A compilation of some of Marshall Faulk's highlights at San Diego State University. Marshall Faulk was the epitome of a three-down back, as he thrived at receiving and blocking almost as much as he dominated on the ground. Faulk also will go down in history as the biggest Heisman snub of the modern era, losing the trophy to a game manager in Miami who wasn't even the best player on his own team.

Why can't Marshall just be the best ever? Too many people are quick to say unequivocally that Barry Sanders is the best ever when he's not. Marshall was a much better & complete back than Barry Sanders. The Lions would take Sanders out on 3rd down & red zone situations. How can you be the greatest back ever when these are the facts. Sanders also had the most minus yards in history bc of his running style. He would put his team in bad situations bc he was too East West style of running. Great highlights but terrible for his team. Marshall was more explosive & ended his runs really strong. So say it and say it loud, MARSHALL FAULK THE GREATEST RB OF ALL TIME!

Faulk never played a full season either year in college , clearly he was a front runner but I think one year he played in 7 games, cant remember how many the next... but he was absolutely "addicting" to watch... Kid would play 7 games but wind up with well over 1400 uyards..half if not more of those 300+ yards rushing , it was insane

***** They both had the dilemma of playing for a small college out in the middle of nowhere Mississippi. Heck, I even ran into this problem trying to find Brett Favre footage, and I'd say USM is a much bigger school than either one of those schools.

I’m from San Diego and saw Marshall out and about a few times and the thing that stood out to me is that he doesn’t look physically intimidating, not that tall, isn’t ripped up. But put a football in that man’s hands and he is a threat to score every time. He could just flat out play. So glad I was able to watch one of the all time greats in person

No doubt. He never had what anyone would consider great muscle tone. I mean, if it were just a pickup game in the park and Marshall had his shirt off, you would think, " I can take this guy". Nope.

I'm surprised there were no highlights against Hawaii. He lit us up for 300+ yards. I was there live as I watched in horror and amazement.

he ran for over 300+ yards in almost half of his games... I remember against Hawaii.. I think he ran for 300+ that year during that time in 3 out of 4 games right around that part of the schedule ... Insane

Used to hate when SDSU/Faulk & TCU/LaDanian Tomlinson used to play Hawaii. Faulk had the better straight-line speed, able to cut/stop on a dime & better hands than LT. And BOTH are NFL HOF'ers!

I went to SDSU and saw the 386 yard game against UOP in person. He only played like 3 quarters. Probably woulda had well over 400 yards if he played the whole game and like 9 TD's. lol

Me too bro !! 93-96 !! I was good friends with #73 Dan Nielson & the o line would always stop by my sunset cliff beach house .. They would always talk about blocking for him was amazing for them ! The o line had so many good stories about what he would do at practices sometimes lol .. I had a place btm of 55th street b4 I got OB spot not to far from delta upsilon ( the ducks) lol. I was in 9th grade when Marshall had this amazing season. In Nebraska i remember brother and I staying up late sometimes to watch the later west coast start time. It was so exciting. This dude was such an outstanding athlete. His breakaway speed and his sneaky in your face and through you power. Dude was soooo freaking awesome. Im kind of in awe just remembering how it felt to watch him back then. Thanks Marshall your one of my favs of all time.

The best All Around RB I ever seen. This guy could run with the best of them, pass block with the best of them, and his receiving skills from the RB position still haven't been duplicated. Faulk could've been a Pro Bowl some may argue HOF receiver if he wanted to.

I would say that between LT and Faulk, whom I consider the two best all-around backs I've ever watched, Faulk was the slightly better receiver and LT was the slightly better pure runner. But they were both excellent in both respects, both could pass block, and both were consummate professionals and team guys.

@@woozie___ He had an awesome rookie season but had injury problems until 1998. Then had those legendary 3 seasons at St. Louis, as a part of the "Greatest Show on Turf". His 3 season run is maybe the best I've ever seen from any running back.

Brandon Jones I got a Fred Taylor video completed (dude could make some unreal cuts for a guy who weighed almost 230 pounds) that will be released during the fall semester, I'm iffy on making a Warrick Dunn video (I hate the Seminoles despite being a MS State fan who has no relation to anything FSU), and I'll eventually get around to making a Marshall's cousin's video because I know an LSU fan who would like that video. Got any other suggestions? I'm all ears!

When Faulk was playing at SDSU a good friend of mine who is a big college football fan showed me some of his game footage and told me I was looking at a future NFL hall of famer. At the time I was like "Yeah, whatever" . Guess he knew what he was talking about.

He had 5,562 yards in 3 years. He would've broke 7,000 yards ears if he played Sr. Year. The ncaa record is like 6,600 or something an only a handful of players ever even broke 6,000

It's interesting. I just finished watching Reggie Bush highlights at USC. Bush was this huge media story, but Faulk--doing even more spectacular things on the field--was totally off the media's radar. The NFL scouts knew about Faulk, however, and he, like Bush, he was picked #2 in the draft. The difference: Faulk 19,190 total career yards, Bush 9,088 career yards. Faulk a Hall-of-Famer, Bush a college superstar who had a couple of nice years in the NFL, and that's it. The NCAA hype-machine fooled everybody....

Fantastic post! He is arguably one of the top three to play the position... I actually played against him the first game of the 1993 season, SDSU vs CSUN. I think he rushed for 172 against us that game.

I watched the BYU game with my brothers friend, it was mesmerizing. Dude had the fluidity of Eric Dickerson, who was much bigger, the balance of Walter Payton and the hands of Chuck Foreman.

Faulk's sophomore year it was him, Garrison Hearst, and Marvin Jones who all three were incredibly dominant that year and it went to Gino Toretta who had a decent year but nothing special. Three other guys were far more deserving that year.

Marshall Faulk is definitely the #2 GOAT. Barry Sanders #1, Marshall Faulk #2. I've said that for a very long time. Barry was the once in a lifetime on the ground, no doubt about that. But Marshall Faulk was the most balanced weaponized running back of all time. Nobody ever could do as much as he could do, with devastating precision. Marshall Faulk could do it all. He was the Swiss Army Knife of the football game. The greatest most loaded running back I have ever seen.

Faulk was such a beats at SDSU which was awesome because he was doing it at a smaller school and not at Notre Dame, Nebraska, Miami or Ohio State. He also didnt have some greek god physique, he looked kinda soft and not rock hard if that makes any sense. But ll he did was explode and chew up yardage.

thats because Nebraska literally ONLY had 5 star running backs every year during that time.. Nebraska was a MUCH different team then... they could afford it.. Faulk couldnt remain injury free in conference he DID play in... he would have gotten eaten up in Big 8 at the time... while I have NO doubt still busting defenses there for 200+ easy

Every time someone bring up Reggie Bush. I always respond with Marshall was the best all purpose back I've ever seen. I understand it's a matter of opinion. But, I always tell people, when they bring up Bush; you better see Faulk. LaDainian Tomlinson was a beast as well. So was Darren McFadden.

Marshall should of won the Heisman YES i watched him play live at SDSU ! Gino Toretta lol didn't do shit after his college career ! Marshall went on to be one of the best NFL running backs ever !
