I'm finally back in "Smartie-Land!" I am sooo behind watching everyone's vlogs, 'cause ya know, LIFE. LOL! Loving seeing everything coming together! Setting up paper and borders. Ugh! I feel for ya! I'm sooo glad that I don't have to do that this year. I had a completely different room last year, though, and I remember taking an entire day just in bulletin board prep! Love and hugs!

I just recently started following you on Instagram and RU-vid. I love how organized you are. The paper is a great alternative to painting. I use fabric for my bulletin boards, however I may try purchasing this paper for a few wasps in my classroom. Thank you for the inspiration. I also love your guardian angel in your car. I have the same one from the Nothing Bundt Cake bakery.

In Finland, the teacher is provided with a ready-made classroom where the teacher works with the necessary tools and supplies to buy the school itself Classrooms, of course, are decorated with posters etc.

I moved from 17 years in Kinder and 1st to 6th grade and I have never been happier! 12 year olds are my spirit animal! They are hilarious and prepping for only 1 or 2 subjects is a dream. You will love it!!!!!

As a former music educator, this vlog is nostalgic for me. Miss my kids but not the "politics". Your passion in creating a safe and nurturing environment conducive to learning for your students is very commendable! I think people need to know what we spend out of our own pockets to create a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing space to teach. The only judgement I have ever received about the money I spend on my classroom has been from other teachers.

How do you hang stuff up on the paper? Does it tear when you remove things later?

So excited to see how the new room looks when you are done! I am living vicariously through you because for the first time in 18 years I will not have a classroom. I am a cluster teacher (like specials) teaching S.S. to grades K,1 and 2 and due to construction at our school (we are getting an extension) we are losing some rooms right now as they begin linking the old building to the new. My room was needed for a class that is losing their room so I will now be pushing into my classes this year. It is starting to sink in that I don't have a classroom to set up this year.

I have a question 🙋🏼‍♀️ My [very first] classroom has bulletin board walls and I have NO clue how to hang heavier objects on them.

Just curious...would your district consider painting that grey color on the bulletin board walls, or would they allow you to do it? It may have cost roughly the same, but the texture would be different from paper, so maybe the paper is a better look? Just wondering...

How do you go around outlets without driving yourself crazy?

Is this butcher paper different then the big rolls the school have.

I’m always surprised at how different fire codes are from place to place. In my county we can have no more than 20% of our walls/windows/door covered with paper.

In our school we can only have 50 percent of our walls covered because of the fire codes. You ladies did a nice job.

How are you able to put up so much paper? The fire marshal told us last year that we could only do 50% of our walls unless it was fire retardant paper, which is ugly. LOL He also told us we had to be 24 inches from the ceiling and floor 🙄 I’m in San Bernardino county so maybe that’s why but I had to switch to paperless boards, so I just do borders with titles now just so my kids can actually see the posters/work on the walls. 😕

This is gonna be my last year and good luck in middle school!

That’s so interesting about the paper that you use. I’ve never seen that done before. Do all teachers in California paper their entire wall space? Don’t get me wrong, I LoVE it, you do an amazing job at creating a gorgeous, peaceful oasis every year, I’m just curious.

Does your district pay all what you buy for your class? or are those stories I have heard just that, stories? and why do you paper the walls? ain't it more difficult to hang kids drawings or group works etc on the walls when the paper is there?
