The vapor pressure of ethanol is 115 torr at 34.9 °C. If ∆Hvap of ethanol is 40.5 kJ/mol, calculate the temperature (°C) when the vapor pressure is 760. torr.

My final for CHEM113 is tomorrow, and I haven't solved the Clausius-Clapeyron equation correctly once this term until I watched this. Thank you so much!

Thank you for explaining this equation. I was having trouble using the calculator. Now I can proceed with confidence.

May I have the solution of this equation (The vapor pressure of liquid benzene obeys the relation ln P = 29.411 − (5893.5/ T) , where the pressure is in torr and temperature is in Kelvin. Calculate the molar enthalpy of vaporization of benzene and the normal boiling point.)

why did you keep ln?

Any help is appreciated. Even if all you say that the method is inapplicable or that I just screwed up somewhere. I have a problem that says "plot each of the following data and determine the delta H vapor for lithium" Given that my graphing skills are non-existent I tried this equation. The data Given was Vp 1, 10, 100, 400, 760. T In C: 750, 890, 1080, 1240, 1310. (I of course converted it into Kelvin.) I used 100 mm Hg and 400 mm Hg and the corresponding temps of 1353K and 1513K. When I try this equation I get 136.5 kJ/mol. The back of my book says the correct answer is 158kJ/mol. Is this method not applicable given the data or did I just screw up somewhere? I've worked on this problem for hours and I haven't had any luck.

Why didn't you just convert 40.5 kJ to J right away, which would be 40500 J, and then divide it by 8.314 instead of having to do some factor labeling? Thanks for posting though. It helped me understand, as you were the only video I could find that was trying to find T2, not P1.

Que triste, o único vídeo que eu encontrei explicando sobre torr é inglês .

I thought the equation was ln (p1/p2) rather than (p2/p1)

We can write it like that. If we are writing P1/P2 we have to not add the negative sign in front of delta H vapourisation.

Indian teachers taking less time than him to do calculations even without using calculator 😂😂. But there is no need to do that right? Why they are made- to do calculations. We should be allowed to use calculators in our exams😭😭.
