I listened to this fight on my car radio, a huge fan of Casius Clay, and remained a huge fan after he became Muhammad Ali. This fight was one of just few of my greatest and most thrilling sports' memories. It was terrific to hear this fight called once again after all these years. Many thanks for posting both the radio call and the film!

I was rooting for Clay right along with you. Man, that was perhaps the longest twenty-three minutes of my life! I was in the eighth grade and bet every penny I could on Cassius with my classmates. I only got three-to-one odds because I didn't think the kids would pay off on eight-to-one odds. I couldn't believe it the next day when everyone not only paid off their losses but were happy for me as well.

Thanks for uploading this rare audio. I've been looking to find this Cosell / Keiter broadcast for years. It's dramatically more interesting for this epic moment in boxing. Ali was the greatest.

When I was 19 I had seen Ali fight. Saw Liston fight. Made bets with everyone I could that Clay would take it. (I have been in a boxing ring a few times, so can pick a style apart) I was the only one not surprised

Les Keiter did an amazing job, commentating on this fight!...so detailed, and rapid-fire at the same time!...I listened to this fight on the radio, as a 17yo kid. It was so exciting, and many people felt that this fight was somehow heralding a new concept of the future. I was shocked to learn here, that Keiter's broadcasting partner that night was Howard Cosell!...Keiter was the superior commentator, for sure..I wonder whatever happened to him?...Guess I gotta Google him!

I was a couple years older and recorded it on my dad‘s reel to reel tape recorder which progressed to digital. Synced it up with the bell and in round seven Bundini yelling in Clay‘s ear while Cosell was interviewing him.

@@monalisaproduction I have watched that fight many times and I always saw Howard in the ring and have always wondered, and wanted to find a recording with his call. A Heavyweight Championship fight back then was a HUGE event. The rematch was in my state, (Maine), at Bates College in Lewiston. We all know how that turned out.

Thank you so much for this beautiful broadcast if Clay/Liston I with the Les Keiter/Howard Cossell ABC Radio Call Keiter and Cossell's call was much more Nostalgic than Steve Ellis and Joe Louis. While the TNT broadcasters attempted to allow the action to speak for itself, the Les Kieter radio blow by blow was so much more exciting in my opinion.

Thank you so much for the comment. Recorded the audio on a reel to reel tape recorder listening to the fight with my dad on that night. I was and still am a huge Ali fan. I synced up the six rounds mainly with the bell but the seventh round was tough, and synced that round up using Drew Bundini Brown yelling into clay‘s ear while he was being interviewed by Cosell, to get it right.

Disappointed they didn't ask Liston about the "element on his gloves" Ali claims blinded him in the 5th... And I don't understand how that would only blind him after the 4th... Also why didn't Ali's corner tell the referee to check Liston's gloves or have the doctor check Ali's eyes to confirm his charge?
