@The Lady Ax Show It took me some time to learn to relax my standards. It has been less of a burden not worrying about having a house that passes the white glove test daily. I am left more time to enjoy my children's youth while I can. And it's reassuring having others share their experiences.

I love what you said, "Outer order creates inner peace."...I so relate to that! We recently had to have a room torn off our house, which made our living space smaller and displaced so many things! But I kept telling myself, "You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette," kept cleaning around the construction, and tried to stay positive. After 6 weeks of chaos, I now have my peaceful home back again; with less of it to clean, lol! Keep up the great videos, Kathryn...I just love you and your sweet family

I needed to hear this! Some of the things of my past do not fit with who I am now and I just shuffle them around my house. I have to agree with you Kathryn! My daughters are all grown and I've moved 4 times in less than 6 years to care for an elderly parent. I love the notion that if something doesn’t have a place , get rid of it ! It is so much easier to just decide immediately where something should go rather than looking at it and deciding for weeks or months . I really use this tip on my daily life ! 👍🏼

This is such a huge motivation for me today! We we're at the beach last week, and it was so sparse and PERFECT! We had everything we needed, and could focus on each other. We decluttered three rooms with reckless abandon yesterday (it felt so good!!) and I'm determined to get the house done! I really want to enjoy my summer with the kids this year, and not constantly yell about the mess!

Amy215 It is totally true that when you start something and complete it fully it will lead to you wanting to do another room and another. I have done so much since starting out my declutter at the beginning of the year. The feeling of satisfaction of completion is such a motivator. The more you do...the more you want to do. I am going to keep that question running through my head today especially when I start feeling trapped by my messy(house) history. Today doesn't have to be shackled to my imperfect past. Yes!! I’m inspired. Agree with it all. My kids just got out of school for the summer and we went through their papers and things they brought home within a few days. Threw out busted folders broken crayons. Saved supplies we can re use and donated books we didn’t want . They got to decide what they want to keep for sentimental reasons and everything has a place. Keeps us in the moment letting go of stuff we don’t love

That part of holding on tongue stuff of.the past has me in tears. I lost my mum 13 years ago, and 11 years my dad and as part of.the berevement process I'm in therapy but I have identified the whole of my house as a project of holding the past and not being able to step out and into my future. But that phrase is something I am going to keep in mind as a mantra to get me through letting go of their belongings. Now I need one for you aren't letting go of them that actually hits me. Cause nothing has so far. This video has been a blessing.

My neighbors next door were moving to a larger home since they now have 3 children and her Dad living with them. I overheard her say they needed a dresser for the baby's room. I had been storing items in my garage for the yard sale I was never going to have. I asked her if she wanted to see if she could use some things I had. She liked several items and asked how much money. I told her to take it no charge and best wishes and God bless. She took a dresser with mirror, nightstand, two bookcases, an office chair, bag of coat hangers,a large jewelry chest, and a set of dishes. She was thrilled and hugged me three times. So my no longer needed belongings were a blessing to someone else and I got my garage cleaned. I love your channel. I would like to see some garage organizing tips.

Yes yes and yes! I learned that I have an appreciation for a minimal look in my house, especially when my son started walking. Easier to clean, feels more peaceful. Momma ain’t got time for Better Homes & Garden house anymore. I recently conquered my garage. I ruthlessly purged and organized what we wanted to keep. And I also use a laundry basket to carry stuff to their designated area. I tried a crap basket from one of your videos and it turned into a laundry basket. 😅

I love what you said about only keeping stuff for who you want to become, not who you were. That needs to be my mantra. I'm working on another purge. We have too many "heritage" items. Things from parents and grandparents and I'm so overwhelmed with clutter. If you're blessed with a partner who helps, be thankful. That's part of my problem too. I'm having to do everything on my own. Perfection definitely does not live in my home!

I’ve been renovating one room at a time and each time I can’t find room for something, I’ve been guilty of shoving it into the garage or a closet until I feel that oppressive feeling of “too much stuff” and I do a mass purge. This is *not* recommended. I love your advice and your energy so much. And a garage organization video would be awesome! Thank you for all of your hard work!

We're a military family that moves a ton and acquires a ton of crap (especially when you're waiting on your household goods to finally show up) until finally you just have a ton of boxes that you just don't even bother unpacking because you have no place to put them in the new house. It seems like you always know what I need to hear!! We are in the process of reorganizing/redecorating/redoing my daughter's room/closet/former playroom, since she is going from elementary school to middle school. We finished tearing down the wall between her old closet and my hall closet to give her a more useful closet and to be able to not have a dresser and chest of drawers in her room (my rooms are very small). So, now we have leftover MESS. She has told me already that she likes the space she has in her room right now (with hardly anything back in it yet...lol). This came just in time to declutter my kitchen cabinets after a new coat of paint. My Dining room was filled with those piles of “decisions” that I had to make. Oh, you are so right! Owning less is easier then organizing more!!! Thus, my having a yard sale this weekend...in spite of the ridiculous heat and humidity! Another thing I totally relate too is the basket o' junk. When I am cleaning, I always keep a basket in the room with me and put everything in it that doesn't go in that room. Don't leave the room till your done is my motto...if you leave to put things away in another room it is way to easy to get sidetracked. FOCUS is key!!!
