Be aware if there is some kind of debries inside the barrel you might scratch the bore. I used to use that "technic" even with the cleaning rode, it really gets the barrel clean. However, one day, one of my inner barrels had something inside, not sure what, and it made a big scratch right on the top portion. I even heard the noice of the "thing" making the scratch... Awful. It was a brass barrel btw. SS ones don't scratch that easly. Gladly I was going to replace the barrel anyway, but it's something you should be careful doing.
For longer barrel you can use any long stick and wrapped it with a tissue, longer than the length of the barrel. But i suggest to use plastic stick because you can accidentaly tore the tissue which leads to scratch the barrel if using metalic materials. Clean it twice or more until there's no tissue or silicone/alcohol left. Because cleaning a 50 cm barrel with this technique is a pain 😅 (but still use it for my pistol barrel for faster cleaning).
That is an excellent idea to clear the inner barrel, especially in a field that usually would not bring a clearing rod. I actually forgot to make a comment in your last video, that I do not recommend putting any silicone oil through the inner barrel. Because that oil could cause a massive accuracy decrease if you do not clean all the oil out. So every time I do my clearing I use some alcohol wet paper to wipe the barrel once or twice, and then the rest will be dry paper to clean out the alcohol and any debris remaining. Not sure if is it the best way to do but I felt good with it and the barrel looks really nice from the inside.
I had to clean out a barrel the other day without an unjamming rod so i used a bit of tissue that was jammed in the barrel snug just a bit about the size of a thumbnail then I used my speedloader with some .2s and attached it to the end and kept putting bbs down the barrel until the tissue come out the other end. Worked a treat
Not as handy in a pinch but for future I'm switching over to a technique a welsh friend showed me. Some silicon tubing with a microfiber cloth on the end. Drop the free end down the inner barrel and pull the microfiber cloth end through it. Cleans pretty well. Packs away cleanly into a pocket, you can make a bunch of them from the raw materials to have spares, and they don't break like unjamming rods if something bumps them in transit.
Not really, it wouldn't be able to remove all the grease and oil that builds up, you need physical contact for that, or one of those vibrating water bath cleaning things
