Thank you honda for installing that sensor so easy to steal mine just got stolen! Same sh!t happened in NJ in June 2020 on a large scale, several hundred CRV 's got robbed of the damn honda sensing "radar sensor" in a matter of couple weeks. Because it's so easy to do without any special tools, they're able to rob 20 cars in literally 20min. Unsuspecting owners started their cars to be greeted with multiple warningns: Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem, Road Departure/Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist System Problem, Auto High-Beam Headlights Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Brake System Problem. Horrible design, Genuine Honda ignorance!
Good to know. I haven't heard of this where I live, but its a much lower population here so that might have something to do with it too. Sorry this happened to you.
I'm from New Jersey myself, and YES, this is a significant problem. Faulty design, yet I do own two Hondas-a 2020 Accord and a '18 CRV-in my home. Unfortunately, thieves just took my mitigating radar in February 2022 from a CRV. Looking inside the grill, it appears that stealing this radar is indeed fairly simple. and it cost me close to $2,000 for the repairs plus a four-month wait period because the part was out of stock. The cost of the sensor itself was $800, the front cover was $55, there were a few hundred dollars worth of brackets and screws, and the remaining $155/hr was for labor. Just to be safe, I'd make sure I had full insurance protection. . I tried to secure it after purchasing a brand-new sensor by wrapping a zip tie around the front cover, but stupid sensors are now giving me lights on the dashboard with a sign that reads "Radar obstructed." I feel like applying crazy glue on the cover edges, but then the dealership will say that you tampered with the original part so we will void the warranty or use another excuse when I go in for maintenance in the future.
Anyone interested in a Class Action suit against Honda? Mine was stolen - see LOTS of missing ones all over NYC. $500 that shouldn't have happened due to poor design. 2019 CR-V
