In the last 13 months I've saved a total of $1,465.23 ($112.71/month) in cable bills by cutting the cord and installing an outdoor HDTV Antenna. I shared the installation process with you here in my video entitled "How to Install an HDTV Antenna and Get Free High Definition Television" ( • How To Install An HDTV... ).
Antennas Direct was kind enough to send me their latest and greatest Antenna. The Clearstream 2Max which is an indoor/outdoor antenna. I really didn't think it would work for me as an indoor solution because I have yet to find an antenna that would, but I was pleasantly surprised. In this video I will show you what comes in the box as well as what I liked about this new offering.

For the past month, I have been trying tons of Antennas, Mohu, NO BRAND, ETC...., and so far Clearstream 2V is the best. I was able to get 28 Channels total with Clearstream 2V indoor. Today, I went and bought the Clearstream 4MAX. I merged BOTH together and OMG, I am now at 48 Channels *indoor*! I can't wait to get it *outdoor*, but so far, I am extremely happy with it!

In fact my local channels are crystal clear much better than the compressed signal from the cable companies.The reason I bought it my cable had gone out AGAIN 3 days before the super bowl and the cable company told me they couldn’t look at it until the following Tuesday. In panic mode I went to my local Walmart when I asked which one is best the clerk told me they are all the same meaning pretty bad. Luckily I went to pay told the gent at the register what his co-worker told me and he said he is full of crap you get what you pay for he went on to show me what he had installed the Clearstream 2max. I’m so glad I ran into this informed employee who knew what he was talking about. This product is in my house on top of a book shelf and it works remarkable I can only imagine if I were to put it in the attic or on the roof,or side of the house. Amazing product well worth the $

I have one and it’s legit. Mine is indoor mount and I’m about 35 miles from the nearest transmitter. The picture is amazing and there’s no pixelation. The price is sorta stout, $80 at Walmart but it works very well & isn’t even amplified.

Damn that’s good bro!! I just cut my cable off in 2019 cause Comcast was charging me almost $200 for cable. Now I have a indoor antenna (one of the flat ones) I can watch tv for free too even though I only get 21 channels I’m not mad about that cause I use Netflix and Hulu to watch tv a lot. So I think it’s safe to say everyone here that has watched this video has either cut the cord or are thinking about doing it and that we can do without a high ass cable bill.

Great Review, precise to the points of interest and no 15 sec loud music intro. LOL. Ive been looking for the 'perfect' indoor antenna. Ive had the RCA flat multi-directional and it didn’t work real well, next I have the Trek LOGTVAZ, its a directional. It would try to pick up diff stations but wasn’t strong enough to pull them in, at 35 miles, even though it showed I received them. I even pointed in the proper direction. So I want to go to try another multi-directional. I don’t want to mount anything on my stucco home, and not on my roof. So that leaves indoor which Im constantly looking for. Im going to give this one a try. Thanks very much for the time you took to do this vid.

Thanks for your kind words. My advice is get the largest antenna you can and place it as high as you can. A lot of antennas advertise a specific range but if you can get one that exceeds the range you require the better off you will be. Especially if you are mounting indoors as there are physical barriers that will impact performance. My goal is zero artifacts.

UP DATE! Hello Mad Hermit, I took your advice and now wanted to update you on my purchase of the ClearStream 2Max Indoor/Outdoor Antenna. I bought a used one from Ebay for $23, didn’t want to spend the full amt if it didn’t work for me plus money is tight. Im extremely happy with it. Im picking up channels 50 miles away. I used to pick up 9 channels all from the Ohio area. I live in New Castle, PA. 20 miles west of Ohio, & 53 miles north of Pittsburgh, PA. Ohio area is flat, New Castle, & PGH hilly and a lot of trees and tall buildings. With this crazy looking antenna, Im now getting 8 Pgh channels 50 miles away, where as before I got nada. I use this in my bedroom, I have it up on a 4.5 foot high chest near the south window. One dipole is pointing south-west, the other is pointing north-east. So its sitting at an angle on top the chest. Placing it on the chest and closer to the south window brought me the 8 PGH stations. Instead of 9 channels, Im now getting 17 channels. Im doing my happy dance! 17 channels may not seem like a lot to some, but for someone who doesn’t watch a lot of TV its huge. I thank you again for your advice, Im so glad I took it. 3 weeks later Im still doing my happy dance. ROFL!!😋

Do you have to have an antenna for each tv in the home? Or can you connect multiple television sets to one antenna? If that's possible, I'm not clear on how you would do that.
@TheMadHermit
@TheMadHermit 7 лет назад
+jackiephall You can use one antenna to feed your whole home, just like the cable company does. If you have cable or satellite television already, you can use the existing wires to feed all the TVs that currently receive service, otherwise you will have to run coax yourself. I show you how mine is connected in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5LTnoRj4AkU.html

Let me point out that different stations are found at different frequency. Old school will work but the frequency range was 5-900 MHz. Then cable companies used 5- 1040 MHz or "Red Marked equipment. Today's cables, splitters and connectors are marked Blue 5- 2300 MHz. For the best result, use blue from the antenna thru the wall and to the tv. A chain is as strong as it's weakest link, thus using unmarked or red will cut out frequency ie channels. I'm using a RCA antenna mount preamp and then I have signal amps for each of my tvs. I live in the woods in Pender county and get roughly 52 channels with my Channel Master Extreme. If I turn it toward the North, I get another set. I'm picking up the 14 and 15 series from Myrtle Beach
@pcjabber
@pcjabber 5 лет назад
@@Wardell43 you make a good point -- get high-quality components because the weakest link degrades the whole system, but 2GHz-capable equipment is unnecessary for over-the-air broadcasts (approx 40 MHz - 650 MHz). Most cable systems require 1 GHz+ components, and satellite usually needs 2 GHz+ equipment. It certainly doesn't hurt anything to "overspec" the frequency capabilities of devices or cables...except maybe one's wallet :-) Also, hello to a fellow NC resident!

Antennas are fickle. You can't just throw it anywhere and at any angle. A vertical placement is preferred. Also getting it as high as possible is best. The less number of obstructions between it and outside the better.

To be clear, there basically is no such thing as an "HDTV antenna." It's an antenna and simply receives what is sent. If a signal is sent in HD, any antenna will receive it as such. That being said, this antenna has the advantage over the flat antennas because of the "rabbit ears" sticking out the sides. The flat panel receives the UHF channels (RF channels 14 and up), but for a better chance of receiving the VHF channels (RF channels 13 and down) you need that rabbit ear element. It so happens that my local NBC, CBS and PBS channels are all 13 and under. Those flat ones just aren't designed for that sort of lifting. If they work great for those VHF channels, it's pretty much because of your location.

@TheMadHermit
@TheMadHermit 5 лет назад
Difficult to say. There are a lot of variables to consider, distance being one of them, but also line of site to transmission towers. You want as little in the way between your antenna and the towers you are most interested in. Every tree or wall is an obstruction that will bounce and reflect signals and reduce your ability to cleanly harvest the signal. As a general rule I try to get the biggest antenna I can and place it outside, as high as I can, pointing in the direction of the tower whose channels I covet the most. I did a video on what that process looks like if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5LTnoRj4AkU.html
