Took a long time to figure this out throughout my 3 years of bass playing. For example: I used to have a guitar TS9 with an Aria SB-R80 which didn’t come close to the RTL tone because I had no idea how to eq and how technique affected the tone. Now I have that knowledge (a lot of it thanks to Marijan Barać) and so I don’t have to use the exact same gear that was used in the studio recordings. The TS9B is a great alternative to the Mesa D-180 amps as they share the same symmetrical clipping style and the frequencies of the pedal basically mimic which frequencies were boosted and cut of the original bass tone.
