The customer wanted to change the style of sole on these CLINCH Engineer Boots from a wedge sole to a rubber halfsole and heel. One we got the midsole off we took the old heel rand off that was used to mimic a 360 welt and switched back to a normal rand for a 3/4 welt. After we put the midsole with the Dr.sole halfsole on we made the bases. Once we got the heels put on we finish sanded the edges with a natural color.

Great resole! If possible, can you show us the finished boot from the side and the back? You did such an amazing job on that heel stack that we didn't get to see it all polished up and completed.

I don't think I've ever seen an Engineers boot with a roping style heel.

Does a conversion like this cost about the same as a resole of a standard block heel boot, or is it more involved/more expensive?

The joint where the welt meets the heel rand looks really good and seamless. It looks like you're using welting for the rand rather than a larger u-shaped piece. Is there a reason for this?

The reason for the continuation of the welt for the heel rand is because there is one less seam and it cups the heel well for the woodsman heel. We don't necessarily use this for every style of shoe.
