How to beat Magnus: When he extends his hand to grab a piece, you immediately grab his hand before he can take the piece and shake his hand while saying "Good game man, but I was stronger"
It’s for people who aren’t in the chess community, these clips are being implied to have reached the masses and made him somewhat of a household name. Why is that so hard for people to understbd
The faster you play you give the oppenent less time to sit and think about the next move, magnus plays at that speed and still thinks 3-4 moves ahead its crazy
None of the current crop have a personality even close to as interesting as magnus. Hikaru is considered to be entertaining but he really isnt at all,ig anish is slightly funny. But magnus is the full package
The fact that the world chess champ is a funny, goofy, ironic , partying genius with a funny and endearing accent is just perfect. The dude is just a solid guy all around. Fun loving fella. Not all serious n shit like some other chess players!!! He's an amazing ambassador to the game
0:12 Hilarious how the guy on the right says "DON'T DO IT!" like it already happened once and he knew it was bound to happen again so he is just there to keep Magnus from ripping his shirt off in a rage.
I love how 6:07 explains what kind of a GM Magnus is. As far as GMs can see into the future, he knows that a game isn't concluded until it is concluded. That's probably why his endgame is venomous.
Well, tbf, for those who are out of the loop, someone would have unironically known Magnus through these clips. It's one of those genuine moments where one can think "wait, he's the world champion and not just some genius chess streamer?"
He got famous within the chess community as soon as he got youngest GM, he never really let off since and when the chess boom happened, he was still there.
Anish Magnus and Hikaru made me love chess. Not because of their influence but because they mixed humility, humor, and intellect-they’re the full package
0:32 if someone had told me THIS is the world's best chess player I would simply laugh in their face. I would probably spit on them too, just from contempt for how dumb they think I am💀😭 we live in a SOCIETY-
To be fair, these clips did make him famous outside of the chess world on a level unheard of among chess players except maybe fischer after his 20 game streak.
What i can see from Magnus Career is that every year that passes he gets more annoyed that no one came even close to his level. He became the best chess player in history by a far margin without effort while he actually just wanted to play soccer.
