www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE RATE & SUBSCRIBE - I visited San Antonio, TX and did my best to hunt down the locations and recreate scenes from the classic 80s film. Enjoy !
Not long after seeing this as a kid, my dad took my brother & I on vacation to San Antonio. I was so happy to visit some of the locations where the movie was filmed. Ironically enough, the first morning we were there, this movie was on tv in our hotel room.
I met William Forsythe at a convention a few years back and told him this was my favorite movie he was in. He told me that when he got the part the description of Morris was a nerdy guy. Forsythe put on twenty pounds, grew his hair out and bought big glasses. When he showed up on the first day he was expecting director, Richard Franklin to be blown away with his transformation. Instead Franklin patted him on the arm and said, "Bill! Glad you're here, stand over there and we will be with you in a minuet." Anyway, I'm sure the story isn't that interesting but I like it and just thought I'd share. Thanks for this and all your videos, Adam. You're the best.
Andy Carl Valentin: Haha! I do find it a very interesting bit of information. 😃 Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻 If I went to a convention, I would love to meet Henry Thomas and tell him that I liked his work even better in this film than in E.T. since he seemed to have evolved and matured as an actor.
I have been a HUGE fan of Cloak and Dagger since the first time I saw it in the 80's. It was great and to this day I still watch it. The guy who played Morris was William Forsythe. I live 60 minutes from San Antonio and have visited almost every location. Man I love that film.
Dude, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life! I grew up watching this movie, and it's still one of my all-time favorites. The music in the film is incredible. As a musician, I noticed at a very early age (thanks to this movie in particular) how powerful music can be in movies. Thanks so much for sharing this!
The Game Keeper was a real store in the Glendale Galleria mall that is located in California. The mall recently went through a renovation so the brick is not around many spots anymore. The OHRBACHS department store closed in 1986 and was gutted but is still recognizable today as a small mall wing off the main corridor into a small central area. The game store was located just south of this and today Is a store called Cache.
Awesome 80's movie. I remember my parents told me about a magical, mysterious machine that would allow us to watch movies at home I remember the awe. I remember going with my parents and renting this movie on betamax from a mom and pop video store when I was young. Brings back a lot of memories around this holiday weekend. Thank you and great job as always .
One of my go-to summer movies to watch. I currently reside in California. But I was born in Texas and most of my growing up was in San Antonio. Henry Thomas is from San Antonio, too. I remember being told by my mom that he's from San Antonio when E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL was released. Several years ago, like in the early 2000's, I had seen a movie called RAGGEDY MAN, and he was in that movie, too.
Excellent work!! I have to tell a story of how this came to be one of my fav movies of all time. In late 1984 or early 1985 we had two "Pay TV" channels available on cable. As a young teenager I was always experimenting with electronics, and unscrambling Zenith's SSAVI Pay TV system was a challenge for weeks. The day I got it to lock the sync and stop the color inversion, I caught the final scenes of this movie where Davey was in the cabin of the airplane with the walkie talkie bomb, and then Dabney Coleman dropping Davey through the airplane window and then the airplane exploding. This was chilling. The music score during the credits was incredible. I had no idea what the title of the movie was, but three days later the channel aired the trailer for Cloak and Dagger, and listed when it would be on again, and I watched the *_entire movie..._* it was better than I could have imagined, just watching the ending! Years later when our family got a VCR, to record from TV and movie rentals, Cloak and Dagger was the first video I *purchased.* Awesome movie!!
I just visited San Antonio this past weekend because I wanted to see the city and I remembered that parts of C&D were filmed here so it was great to see this video and remember where. I got to visit the Alamo and RiverWalk! Thanks for sharing!

I asked you about this classic in a comment from a recent TDW blog, didn't know you already filmed a video back in 2012. I adore San Antonio, went there a lot when I was a kid. This might be my favorite film location video of yours. Or at least a close second after the Back to the Future trilogy locations.
I’m so glad to hear that I’m not the only one who feels this way. 😋 I want to do this also, and I think it will bring me back to the 80’s and feel the magic as a child again. ❤️
Just watched it night, never seen the whole movie. I was bummed to see the sky coaster was removed from the tea gardens! But the boat ride still being around made me feel better. Definitely going to visit here some day.
Yeah, I remember when the film was released it was a big deal in San Antonio. I've visited those places many times. In fact I believe the scene inside the tower was filmed in the Federal Building next to the Alamo. :)
Man, I live in San Antonio and had no clue...only been here 4 1/2 years. My co-workers and I are putting together a movie list of movies we have to watch either for the first time or re-watch cause they are awesome. This movie came up and he told me to google it and add San Antonio and your video came up. I love how you incorporate scenes from the actual movie. Any movies that you could suggest to add to the list would be great. Have you ever been on a talk show or anything? I think there are a few like Jimmy Fallon that would think this was awesome.
I'm visiting soon and trying to find the location where rice shoots the other bad guy under the bridge. I can't find where that is on the google maps. Do you know the cross street so that I can find it? My kids are going with me and they love this movie too.
Great job! You put that together really well. Since your close to the area you should head up to Minnesota and check out some film locations from movies like Purple Rain, Jingle All The Way, Grumpy Old Men, and Fargo. Love love love your videos!
WOW! So you have been to San Antonio before. I love to see movies filmed in my hometown. You need to come back for the King William Neighborhood Parade during Fiesta.
Simply Amazing work buy everyone that participated in this reenactment of this movie! This is a movie I haven't ever seen before.Ain't this Elliott from ET?I've gotta get this movie now.A+++ on filming scene locations. The guys that helped you with this, seemed like a group I would hang out & party with.I bet they had you rolling from laughing so hard. What the h--l was that thing with the string less guitar??Thing,That guitar ain't gonna talk back to ya.Sorry,I gotta watch this again. This is 2 good
You should have kicked your legs up when you ran down the steps after the Alamo. Like Davey. I went to San Antonio for work a while back and I was super stoked I got to visit the filming location of this fantastic movie.
funny I noticed one of evil men was Tim Rossovich, big guy in the grey tracksuit, he was reading the sports page. Dallas Cowboys section in the Cadillac. I think he used to play for the Cowboys or Houston oilers, good homage there.
I use to love this movie as a kid, I was always intrigued by the plot of the movie, a young boy who loves to pretend his fighting spies ends up being a part of a real spy conspiracy and the fact that no one believes him. They don't make movies like these anymore
Nice videos. I always thought it would be cool to find out where movies were shot and then visit those locations, for some reason I first thought about it when watching "Planes Trains and Automobiles" and seeing that shot when they are in St.Louis from the woods/stream to the highway driving the rental car. I would also like to visit where they shot Roxanne, the original Vacation, Funny Farm, and Caddyshack. Cloak and Dagger was a good choice, remember seeing it in the theater when I was a little kid and thought that koi pond/river was interesting. The answer is William Forsythe, I watched C and D recently and could not believe it was him, he totally plays the mall video game store geek perfectly and is totally different from the bad asses he normally plays like in Extreme Prejudice. Keep up the videos. If you can do Roxanne, Lethal Weapon, Groundhog Day or Vacation
Nice..never heard of or seen that movie....course I grew up around that age(84) in a tar papered one room shack with no electricitity or running water..so t.v wasn't an option....not even sure when I first knew what a movie was...hmmmm??? Anyway I'm going to check it out now.....well later on not right now...love your ramditions of the scenes..hilarious.
The indoor filming locations of the life tower may have been filmed in a studio. It was like that with The Exorcist; many of the scenes filmed inside the house were filmed in a studio.
You react the same way to film locations that I do. “This is the exact spot!” I did that with the Exorcist stairs...I couldn’t leave the spot....because it felt like arriving at the Mother Ship! As I’m sure you have noticed, locations seem much smaller in person than they did on the silver screen. The camera makes things look much larger than life.
Awsome video! I was there just this summer. Finding that extact rock formation where he sat the game down was very impressive! Hilarious reenactments! That guy on the bench which you jumped on, was he someone you knew because he looked surprised? lol!
