www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE RATE & SUBSCRIBE - I hunted down the filming locations for the 1991 classic movie. Some of the spots were easy to find and some were near impossible. It was a challenge but a lot of fun. Enjoy !
@@mikejunior211 with the hurricanes this area has endured after the filming of this movie, my guess is that is what killed it. A lot of trees in 04 were destroyed by hurricane charley that came through that area.
Thank you Adam, for the memories, and, for the trip to locations, for the movie My Girl. It's one of my favorite movies. Your shots of the weeping willow tree, made me so sad, and made me think of Vada's poem she wrote, after Thomas J. had died. The movie made me long for the simpler, innocent days of youth. Like in the movie though, things can happen, like death, that you can't be prepared for, especially as a child, and some have to learn, that things are no longer simple, and innocent, and, they never can, or will be again. . . 😞💔
I feel so nostalgic, it's been 23 years since I watched the movie for the first time! I feel bad about the end, that was such a beautiful tree! Thanks for taking the time to do these videos! Greetings from Costa Rica :)
They didn't actually film inside the house, they built an almost exact replica in the studio (which explains the non-existent cellar, as it's clear in the film that there are stairs down). They didn't want to film in the house as the guy that owned it at the time was an artist who ran an antiques business, and they were scared of damaging something.
"That tree said it all That was the past this is the now One day we will all be gone But the power of film will live on" We look at that tree with memories of the film in the same way Veda did in memory of Thomas J.. Thats the beauty!!
My city :-) I lived on a few of those streets that you showed. Where the house was and where the funeral home was. I was just at that library downtown. Where the houses are, we call that Georgetown. That is more of the historic side. The girl in this video with you imitated Vida to the T, lol, even the way she ran. Except for both hands on the stair railing, but everything else was spot on. Awesome job :-) I enjoyed this. I was born and raised here :-)
Awesome blast from the past. I was born and raised in Sanford so I remember them filming way back then. I still live close to the area but looking back is always a tearjerker. Lots of changes to the area.
This is my favorite childhood movie of all time. It is amazing how you were able to find the film locations. I can tell you are obsessed with this movie! Great job!
+sass clenaghen I did the same thing lol , I don't think the tree footage in this video was his though, didn't look like his style, that's why he has the new video from today, he found the tree :)
+sani 86 I think it's his footage of the tree as well. He said in the new video he wished he would have focused more on the little dock because now that's gone :(
That was truly amazing. The end of the scene really got me. We have all climbed that one tree, we have all etched our names into it. Hoping that our names and our experience would be inmoratalized. To see the tree gone and to see the deterioration of that once big gorgeous tree, choked me up. Maybe it’s because it represents us, and how strong and fragile our existence is.
Such a beautiful way for you to end this video. I waited throughout this whole thing to see the tree and the dock where they had their infamous kiss. So sad to see that the tree is pretty much gone and the dock is all broken. I bet you were REALLY bummed when you discovered that. Actually made me tear up a little....and then I was like....why am I almost crying? LOL
This is amazing how you filmed this. This is very sad to see the willow tree ending up like that. Thank you very much for this update. Very touching and beautiful. My Girl was definitely the movie I grew up with.
The willow tree was fake, they made it themselves out of steel (when they made the film), the dock obviously wasn't looked after so the wood started disintegrating/rotting
Thank's for sharing! 52 and going on 53, time goes by! Wish I could be 32 going on 33 again! Helps to age by reading you all!!!!! Have a great 2015 summer!!!!
Dude, this video is absolutely amazing! I highly admire all the work that you did, this is one of my favorite movies, it was so nice to see what everything is like 20 years later, I might be going to Florida early next year and I would love to run into the 'Parlor'! I love the reenactments! Really nice job!! :)
really great job with this one.... the last minute or so with the original voice over was really great! Thank you, this video brought back a lot of great memories.
I saw the movie a lot in the early 90's as my daughter was young then & loved it. I've lived in Sanford 8 years now & never knew they filmed a lot of it here. Thanks for the cool post.
Not sure what it takes to locate and visit these film locations but thanks! I love it and find it so interesting. I've even got a few of my friends into it.
BroskyWhoDatedHoski it was the Stanford inn It’s in Bartow Florida My uncle was in charge of the city of Bartow’s electric department and they helped the crew with their electric needs In appreciation Jammie Lee Curtis gave my uncle a kiss
damn, this might have been my favorite vid of yours yet. as much as i love all the abandoned locations, its pretty fascinating to learn about the rich movie history the state of florida actually has. i honestly had no idea my girl was filmed here until you made this video. shame on my ignorance and thank you for your passion and dedication! :)
The funny part about 11:20 when Dan Akroyd is talking about charcoal in pre-measured bags is that Kingsford introduced a similar product several years ago.
Wanna go tree climbing Thomas Jay? This may be the most charming video I have ever seen. The giddiness & enthusiasm in your voice & the fact that you chose this film! So under-rated! Its also one of my all time favorites, I too have memorized the entire movie and always loved the town & their bikes! I still feel like Veda and I would have been best friends. For awhile I insisted on wearing a Mood-ring like hers. A bit on the scarce side trying to locate in my 90's childhood, but that's neith
So I just came across your videos today, I have literally been sitting here for 6 hours watching....lol Yes I have no life! I love this one, my girls was one of my favorite movies!! But I gotta tell you the tree at the end was a real bummer. Thanks for doing what you do!! Keep it up!! Love the videos!!
I've been to the area where that clock tower is. My mom loves My Girl and pointed out while we were out there once years ago that it was from the movie. Glad you filmed the locations for this movie. I immediately shared it with my mom after watching the video myself. Don't know when she'll actually watch it. Thanks for doing this one.
This is incredible work Adam! You should put your work on the silver screen or get your own TV show. Awesome work! The tree and bridge flashback was amazing. Brought a smile to my face.
This was great. I had just finished watching the movie for the IDK time and wondered where this was filmed looked it up and found this. great video.. :)
My girl film was shot in Florida but in the movie was Penselvania and first I didn't noticed it until I see this video thanks man for sharing I'm a huge fan of the Drama sad movie its awesome to see where exactly was filming , keep it up bro..
soooo- I came across you and your videos a couple weeks ago.. I spent the first night (about 4 hours) wachin video after video - Man - Keep it up - I tell ya - I would watch a show like this - there is nothing on TV like this... I know people have told you that but man - I am a fan of uncovering things.. and a fan of yours. thank you for hours of entertainment...
13:24 you did a really good putting this part together man. Its incredible to see one of hollywood's most classic moments in history, impacted with the reality of time and reality. The tree is still there and so is the bridge... thats great bro
....For awhile I insisted on wearing a Mood-ring like hers. A bit on the scarce side trying to locate in my 90's childhood, but that's neither here nor there. The point is, despite the foreknowledge I have of the fate awaiting poor TJ going back to retrieve the ring - that scene with her on the staircase listening to the wake that you edited brilliantly, interspersing how it looks today, made me cry. In a good way! Well done, I'm sure Harry Sultenfuss & the gang and the Sennet family are prou
Oh my goodness! I love that you did this location. I am 8 1/2 months pregnant with twin girls and I'm naming one of them Vada after this movie :) Thanks so much for doing what you do, it is very much so enjoyed and appreciated :)
Damn fine work! The squirrel conversation was funny as well :D ; that's starting to become a reoccurring theme; with the random squirrel shots in various videos.
Great video! I am the newest fan to your site. I too enjoy the hobby of visiting lots of movie filming locations, and I take photos and videos, but I have NO IDEA how to edit them and play them along with the original movie clip, as you do. Great job man! Keep up the good work!
I always felt this strange connection to the movie, and cant believe I've started at those houses millions of times, and NEVER connected them with the movie lol.
your movie location videos are the best. Have you done any John Hughes? A lot of them are in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I just discovered your videos and I appreciate the information. It's fun to see how different the locations look in real life compared to how they looked on film. It reveals a lot about movies. I can't believe the amount of research you've done.
I like reading others comments. I second what homersimpsonucf had to say. Nice job on your work and thank you for your passion and dedication. And, by the way, Dan A. one of my all time favorite actors. Always wanted to meet him too. Very cool Adam and Nicky.
