Its crazy how much of the set was left to decay and not be preserved in some way. The money spent to produce the town was a budget in itself for sure. Great video.
I was an extra in the movie Big Fish. I was hoping you would have got some of the Circus Scene - the scene I was a part of - with Danny DeVito. It was right next to the Indian Casino. It was all tents though so probably nothing to see.
Another awesome job...Thank You I had forgotten about this gem of a movie.Great to see that the town was still there after all these years. Keep up the good work as always and for letting us share in your adventures.
Adam you have a great way to show the where and what that make your videos so good. You keep getting better with each new show. From all big movie and adventures fans, Thank You
Adam... You have made my favorite video ever... I love this film.. it is one of Tim Burtons best and does not get the recognition it deserves. Thank you for honoring it in the way you did.. I wish I could hear my Grandfather's stories just one more time... *tears*
One of your all time best videos Adam. It seriously gave me chills seeing your side-by-sides. What you did with this video almost captures what the message of big fish was: Go out and live your life, meet people, have adventures that seem extraordinary. And of course the recognition of how everything is always changing around us. Fantastic man.
Ok I thought Beetlejuice was my favorite filming location but Adam, I have NO idea how you are going to top this one because this is now my fav. Like everyone keeps saying, the fact that the "town" is still there just adds to the WOW factor and in making this my fav. Who ever owns this land probably has THE best movie prop ever, they have a whole freaken lifesize town in their backyard, lol. Thanks again for an awesome video and I can see why you were so stoked about this one. Cheers bud :)
Wow, thanks for this post too,I have been gone off youtube for a month and you have been busy! and yes the movie is worth checking out,and okay for kids to watch too.
It's cool to watch this when you grew up in this town... still haven't visited "Spectre" because I heard that it's actually on someone's property that has a gate around it. The story is there is a phone number on the gate for you to call and I guess they let you in? Still don't know, haha.
@adamthewoo..I was there last week, the fake forest that you walk through to get to Spectre is now a field with a few trees...the only thing left is the tree arch that enters the town. Also there is a camper right under where thwe shoes would have been! One last final and sad note, the house on the river is now completely gone! The only thing left are the beams that held it up in the water. I have pics if you would like them. Some parts of the house are now sitting on a porch in the town.
Always love your video's no matter what it's about. You add a lot of good humor to everything :) Still waiting for you to make your way to Ocala to see if there's anything left of Six Gun Territory. I drove by there a couple months ago and what used to be the parking lot is now Six Gun Plaza. There's a wooded area behind the plaza and I'm hoping there's still some remnants left of the old park. I would have stopped and explored it myself but I'm disabled now and can't do those things anymore.
I found this video to be such a great piece of work that I am downloading the film Big Fish as I can not believe that I never watched it. Must say that I really enjoy watching your films now, especially since the crazzzzy noises in the background have all but been done away with. No offence intended, but it did detract from your video work in the past. Nicely done !!
I have to admit that Specter was indeed an enchantingly beautiful place in the movie and when it fell into disrepair... It was full of sorrows and so sad, but luckily Edward Bloom bought the town's properties, renovated them and the condition was that the residents continue their peaceful lives. If I were a millionaire, in addition to returning the Pacific Electric streetcars to the streets of Los Angeles, I would buy this tourist attraction from the movie and renovate and build it back to its original cinematic glory, with a nice green lawn, but without a road going over it, I would renovate those houses, I would buy them beautifully clean and shiny furniture, beds, sofas and also televisions and Internet connections to the whole town, I would make them toilets and showers, I would paint them the same color as in the movie and absolutely everything so that the city would be both modern and look exactly the same as when Edward Bloom came there for the first time and in this way I would make it either a holiday village where those houses are rented out to tourists or so that in addition to renting they can also be bought. Surely that would be really wonderful and beautiful, wouldn't it?
It's so weird how in the movie, the town of Spectre became run town and Edward Bloom fixed it up. And now, you look at the filming location, it looks almost how it did in the movie when nature took back over.
How much fun! As 'The Walking Dead' is filming in my hometown right now, it's a cool breeze to see this just over in alabama. I have only seen this film once, My dad had just died and it was quite the emotional rollercoaster for me. After viewing this, I may go check it out again. And the young lady in the vid with you is brainmeltingly hot, BTW.
That's crazy. The hospital parking lot scene was shot in Prattville, AL. I graduated from high school there. I know the bridge and town scenes were shot in Selma I think. But I'm not sure about the other scenes. Good job Woo!
awwww man the general store =( I was there about six months before this and it was still mostly standing. A corner had started caving in but the big plate glass windows were still intact. And the house the giant straightened is where I was standing when the property owner showed up and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave.
I went there several months ago and just missed seeing the general store. The ashes were still smoldering when we got there. I think they burned it down to make sure it didn't collapse on someone.
I can't get enough of this video adam!!!!, its close to my home and i haven't even tried to go to these locations.............but i will now. Any help on how to get to the spectre location? I'd love to go take pictures there!!!
Visited today. Lots of buildings gone. And the path is gone except the trees before you get to the town. Jenny's house is also gone. Was falling into the water.
I love "Big Fish" for lots of reasons, but I happen to be from and live in the town in Alabama--Cullman--that this movie was based on according to the author of the book in the DVD featurette. Can you tell me where in Alabama that you found these places, especially Spectre?
Nice. I visited the town a few years ago saw the house..courthouse etc. Church from the end as well. Had NO idea Spectre was there. But its on private property correct?
The church were the giant stood was blown away by a tornado earlier this year but if u come back to wetumpka u gotta go to fios its by the white house on the hill
