Thanks, man! The setup is definitely starting to come together now. I've spent a few days here and there doing wire organization in the back to make it less of a fire hazard :D
I still find Atari cartridges at Thrift Stores and Flea Markets. You said "mostly" lag free. The Flashback 8 (and earlier) had bad lag with paddles, and the Flashback 9 doesn't support original paddle controllers regardless of what the literature that came with it says.
Great review! I got one over the weekend as well. Unfortunately I can't get it to function properly through my capture card (picture, but no sound!). As a solution played on a TV though, I think it's a solid little box, especially after using the community update.
Very good review! The SEGA to Atari 7800 adapter is an absolute must have for this thing. I'm enjoying mine right now with the current community OS installed. New sub!
I've preordered a collectorvision phoenix which will have a 2600 core built in with a future adapter for actual carts. It's more expensive at $200 but the ability to play an FPGA colecovision and 2600 with future cores possible? That's a much wiser investment IMO. This thing is just cheap junk that doesn't work well with lots of the games. This and Atgames are fighting to create the worst 2600 clones.
