Join us as we had a Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day back in 2009! A Front Seat POV of Splash Mountain at Disneyland, Anaheim California. Themed to the now controversial film "Song of the South." This ride opened in 1989 with it's great animatronics, catchy song, and incredible drop. It has been a Disney fan favorite all through the years.
Many fans weren't thrilled when Disney announced the re-theme and some felt like another piece of their childhood was being erased. Some fans welcomed the change and are looked forward to see what Disney had in store for this ride.

On June 2020, it was announced that the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom versions of this attraction would be re-themed based on the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog. Disney executives had privately discussed removing the attraction's Song of the South theme for at least five years, before putting into development a theme based on The Princess and the Frog. The project is being led by Walt Disney Imagineer Senior Creative Producer Charita Carter with Baxter returning as a creative advisor. A spokeswoman said that there are (thankfully) no plans to redesign the attraction at Tokyo Disneyland (which is owned and operated by The Oriental Land Company). During August 2021, new artwork and details for the re-theme were revealed by Disney Parks. In June 2022, Anika Noni Rose (voice of Tiana) mentioned during an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan that she has been involved with discussions with Disney on what they want the attraction to be like, and that it would open in 2024. Disney, however, did not confirm or refute the opening date at the time and added that the company plans to share more details during the Essence Festival of Culture, which runs from June 30 through July 3, 2022, in New Orleans. The following month, the company initially announced that the new ride, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, will open at both parks in late 2024, before later deciding to change it to June 28, 2024 in Florida and later at Disneyland. The Walt Disney World version of Splash Mountain was the first to close on January 23, 2023. At Disneyland it closed on May 31 of that year (To see our Last Splash video, see the End Screen). Nowadays the only one left under the SM theme is at Tokyo Disneyland.
