Closer Look - 80's Spider Man Animated Series UK DVDs 

I remenber watching Spider Man 1981 when I was younger and it was great!

Clear Vision commissioned UK artist Simon Williams for the covers. He did at least the Spider-Man and Hulk ones, not 100% on the others.

I actually remember the 60's Spider-man show more because it was played on rerun up until the 00's but I don't remember the 80's shows ever being played past the 80's, thank you dailymotion. I too also thought Dr. Doom was one of Spidey's main villains because of these shows.

Unfortunatly many dvd of this series had missing booklets unless you got 1st editions. Most of the 1st releases had slip covers and those had booklets.

I just picked up the spiderman 1981 series from ebay. Pricey but worth it.

I'm one of the lucky UK people who was able to pick these up before they went out of print because they are so expensive now

ik disney plus has those spiderman shows i love watching them but i wish they had dvd releses in america that would be nice.

Nice video ! I just this month started to collect all the marvel animated series from 1966 to 2000 on DVD and I'm getting close to having them all. I'm only missing Spider-woman, Incredible hulk 81 and the Silver surfer series now. I was also lucky enough to find the 90's spider-man twice for 50 bucks each. Once in 5 different seasons and once in a complete boxset.

Sorry about not being able to get the 90's Spider-Man sets, but yes they were becoming out of print and fetching collectors prices. The company that made these Clear Vision no longer exist, but some of their titles can still be found if you know where to look. Hopefully Disney will get off their rear ends and give you guys a 90's Spider-Man release, even if they had to do a collaboration with Sony Home Entertainment to do it or something, hopefully it will be done and the same for the other shows too. The reason why there were so many Doctor Doom episodes in the 1981 series was because at least 5 of them was actually a 5 part mini arc, something very rare to see in cartoons like that at the time. Though the quality of those 1981 episodes aren't really the best, due to poor masters being used for the transfers which on occasion makes it look like electrical interference messing up the picture and the 1981 Captain America episode being NTSC'd through the ass. :D VLC Media Player can actually be used to play any DVD from any region without it locking the disc drive to one specific region, very nifty to know that. ;) Oh and for more of our retarded rating system, I suggest visiting www.bbfc.co.uk for more information. ;) You're welcome as always Sean, thanks again for the shout out. :)

Great stuff, been looking for a video on all the Spider Man dvd's put out. Cant seem to find many releases on the newer Spider Man stuff and Marvel in general.

A quick search on the UK amazon shows the 90s series going for £219 which is about $318 canadian. Hope you have your wallet ready.

Awesome video and content as ever Sean :) I still maintain that for me personally, the Spider-Man TAS from the 90's and the more recent The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series are two of the best of the cartoons featuring the web-slinger. Sadly the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series only lasted 2 seasons before it was criminally cancelled way before it's time plus to add insult to injury the second season finale ended on a cliffhanger!. Either way, if you've not watched it as of yet or haven't watched period I highly recommend you check it out.

I feel I should mention this but there is a web site called retro tv memories that has both live action Spider-Man series the American show from the 70’s and the Japanese Show where spidy has a giant robot called marveler .

What file type do you rip your DVD's as? (If it's .vob in a VIDEO_TS folder, do you have a way to play them back in VLC continuously?)
