@John Doe Isn't it terrible what kind of people walk around on this planet? I have the impression as if it was getting more of them day after day...Peterson, Watts...In a strange way almost worse than the Bundy-Type.
When a lawyer tries to establish an "alternative narrative" it is best to substantiate that story with other than "alternative facts"? Watching the defendants face during the hearing suggests that he is too "cool"? Taking the stand to defend one's self is an indication of one who knows themselves to be innocent? . This and the other videos are a unique insight into how a murder trial is conducted?
Thats because he knows his client is guilty as hell, so doesn't make a credible case for the defendant as he probably wants him on death row as much as the prosecution side
Are you from the U.K.? I was just wondering because of your spelling 'defence'- which IS correct, as is 'defense'- I just wanted to know if Canadiens also spell it that way, or Australians...etc.
I DONT HAVE ANY MERCY FOR SOMEONE THAT IS 100 PERCENT GUILTY. GUILT IS ALL OVER SEVIERS FACE. DR SEVIERS DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS. TERRIBLE WORLD WE ARE LIVING IN. NO WONDER DEFENSE IS SO LOUSY-NOTHING TO WORK WITH. DID THIS ATTORNEY PASS A BAR EXAM??? IM SMARTER THAN HIM AND I DID NOT HO TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!
This trial had a wealth of incompetent attorneys, but that rambling closing speech takes the biscuit.Thankfully Sievers' attorney was incompetent,a half decent defence attorney could quite easily have blown holes in the prosecution case, neither side demonstrated skill in their handling of this case.
Mess with pen, fixes glasses, must have drank 50 cups of water.. little Nervous are we ... GUILTY ASS HELL.. BTW . DEFENSE sounds like school project that's due by next day 🤣
Carrie Day and the lip tongue dry sounds are so disconcerting , hes a terrible atty, i saw him on news saying his only focus was to save his clients life, well he failed miserably
Defending lawyer here is unable to give solid statements to retaliate Ms Ross & Mr Hunter clear and factual evidences on this absurd case. It is quite a lousy debate as a defender.
I didn't sleep a wink last night 😴 this had to be one of the best closing arguments I've seen. Grant Amato didn't killed Todd komhammer the pipe going threw the window killed Barb
John D. Leo ~ Even Sievers reacted when at 19:17 of this video his lawyer said the detective told Curtis Wright about the insurance policy in January 2015. She wasn’t killed until June 2015. Can’t even get his facts straight
Michael Pacitti he is paid by state , MS is such a LOSER $ only his poor wifes, whom he had 5 million reasons to kill They were in financial issues broke And if MS was soooo innocent why not TESTIFYING
Look, even the DEFENDANT here looks unconvinced by this disjointed attempt to see him found innocent. Are we SURE this isn't the prosecution closing argument ?
@@FLo-jc7ig I felt for his lawyer trying to find anything solid in his defence, he was really clutching at straws! On another note, what a shame they didn't play sievers interviews, the jury could have had a good laugh.
Have you ever done a work project in the 4th grade, on the night before, because your colleagues didn't want do to it so you had to make it alone, in a rush, to present next day and save the group? Well, this guy is one of those colleagues and he's reading his part.
I had a similar experience in my youth only it was all of my own doing. Imagine these lawyers crossed all their T's and dotted all their I's for 15-20 years of school only to find themselves in the same situation.
Feel bad for defense lawyers in cases like this. They're trying to hang an air freshener on a massive turd pile and convince the jury everything is fine.
I would be afraid if I was the attorney, maybe at the end of the trial thet will grab the wrong person and put him in jail and Mark will walk out of the courtroom.
Probably thought he was gonna he the next Jose Baez not realizing he exudes zero likability to a juror no fluid speaking ability, just long pausing and looking at his notes. One point to the next rehashing what was already gone over in trial and zero argument about why this douche wasn’t guilty. Really awful all around.
Absolutely horrible, unprepared, and unorganized closing argument from the defense. Granted they’re having to grasp at straws because they have nothing to work with but this is almost impossible to pay attention to... I feel sorry for the jury having to try to concentrate on this mess.
We don’t care about no cover all. I been listening to this off and on all night and now it is time to ✋ and go on about my business closing argument just repeating the murder evidence I don’t know it sounds like he is trying to defend the ones that did the murder.
His lawyer sent him to death row! Mark kept looking at the Prosecution side and I bet he wished that he could have hired as his lawyer! In a way he's God sent! We don't want the animal released from its cage!
@Marcos Cabral In the US, the possibilities of my dying if I walk in on a burglary are very low, going by available stats. "According to the State of USA, an average of 7% of home burglaries used violence each year. And of those violent burglaries, only 12% of the burglars had a firearm."
@Marcos Cabral Am very happy to give you a break. People like you only see what they want to see and only hear what they want to hear. Some of us are able to retain some form of objectivity while we examine the facts because we don't become emotionally involved in the case. There are doctors who are trained to help people like you.
So stupid... why would the two stooges from Missouri drive all the way down to Florida to kill this woman if they weren’t promised something? It’s so ridiculous, it would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic. Those poor little girl’s lives have been completely shattered.
@@jaymejohnson2375 He was jealous, that’s how he decided to shave his head and grow his goatee. However, murder is a far reach. He could have said, bro, make this marriage work, make the divorce work, keep the kindness going. Curtis needed to walk away. Jimmy needed counseling at age seven. It’s heartbreaking.
For sure! It just shows whatever facet of Sievers’ personality disorder or psychopathy, or bloated ego that you want to choose.....he seems to have decided to aggressively fight the charges (without testifying on his own behalf, though!) and risk getting the death sentence as his fate, rather than pleading a lesser charge and spending the rest of his life in prison. He also didn’t seem to understand that nobody can control what happens during a trial, which is the miscalculation so many people make!
@@voraciousreader3341 To be honest? I think his fate was sealed, when he recruited those two incompetent idiots to carry out this anus act. It says a lot about Sievers? That he entrusted them to carry this out. The reality is? That whoever did it, it would have led back to him. He got what he deserved.
@@voraciousreader3341 you seem to know what you are talking about. What if he is innocent though? Imagine, just for a moment, first you lose your wife, then you find out your "best friend" did it, then this friend accuses you and everyone else since he needs to save his own life. The boner phone you might have used for minor dirty secrets (drugs maybe?) all of a sudden becomes the determining element of a well-constructed story against you. Clearly, it seems that even if the husband was innocent, with the killer witness...there was no chance (plus they look alike)...
@@maxim3975 Your quite right to point that out. The evidence against Mark Sievers was solely circumstantial. Lots of people get convicted on circumstantial evidence. Sievers won't be the first, nor the last. They obviously believed Curtis Wainwright. Hence the reason for his conviction and death penalty?
This defense attorney put the Judge to sleep, literally. He is really unqualified to be representing a first-degree murder defendant. I hope he was not hired by Sievers, because a PD would have seeved him better for free.
Did anyone else notice that Mark and his attorney.......as well as Curtis could be triplets!!! It is 3am and I don't have my glasses on, but I am laughing so hard sleep is not in the cards!
2am He's explaining the Walmart evidence compared to the Home shopping club evidence he thinks he's Shakespeare or in the mob flcking his cuffs like Christopher in the sapranos when Paulie told him too before getting in the car
lol how else was this lawyer supposed to act in this case? Mark could have hired the best lawyer in the entire world, and it wouldn't have helped him a single bit. The lawyers job is to defend his client with all of the facts. All of those facts were in favor of the prosecution, meaning there was no chance at a not guilty verdict. It wasn't ever going to happen, you could re try this case hundreds of thousands of times, and the result will always be the same.
This is shocking how bad this lawyer is..Talking about dog bowls and coins with Jerry Lubinski ..Dr Theresa Sievers RIP🙏..I'm sorry and I pray for ur daughters
Omgosh! The defenses closing statement was pathetic. He couldn’t put a sentence together that made any sense. He knows his client is guilty and there’s noway he can pull this case out of the shi**er!! The other attorney was so happy that he won the coin toss so he didn’t have to give this non convincing argument.
Sievers is impressed with this defense close. See how attentive and upright Sievers is? He even put his pencil down. Making eye contact with the jury. Up till now, they probably didn’t know he had eyes. This defense attorney’s quick, clipped style of speech.seems juvenile; like a cornered.teenage punk.
I totally agree..suddenly alert with a hopeful expression, even though he's DOOMED. The defence lawyer keeps smacking..dry mouth nervously and clicking his pen, trying to find things in common with jurists to get them on his side..pathetic defence speech.
Exactely what I wrote! Like twins. In the beginning I had problems to see who is who. And in most cases the prisoner wears orange or green or any jumpsuit ;-))
It must have been very hard for the defense lawyer to sleep, trying to compose a credible defence. So glad the jury so through that. Iwould sure like to have an update on those murdering creeps life in prison.
Yes, and he woke late this day. Oh, what do I have to do today? I need to go to the supermarket and buy some stuff, sugar, milk and, and what else? Oh yes, I have to go also to the court today 🤔
As a juror the defense attorney would have turned me away .. he failed to make any point relevant. He didn't provide an alternative to why Wright would have killed her other than for his friend.
The look on Sievers face at minutes at around 25:40 is priceless...he sees his fate/life pass right before his eyes. Watching his attorney ramble on in 50 different directions not making one valid point in his closing argument... Love this, KARMA is a bitch ;)
It is so difficult to follow this guy’s thought processes- he doesn’t follow through with qualifying reasons or facts. It must have been difficult to make eye contact with his colleagues after all this.
I thought the same. This was just disgraceful to watch. You can tell he was almost disgusted with himself. Tripping over his words, repeating things, using more physical actions to cover up the lack of info and facts...
Somebody's gotta do the job though..its in the Constitution.. Every citizen has the right to a fair trial AND an attorney to represent them. They can't say "well... Nobody wants to defend this guy so looks like we gotta violate his constitutional right. *shrug*" they can't do that.. At all.. No matter who doesn't want to represent someone, SOMEONE has to. And of course that person is always going to be seen as a monster by the public.
But you also have to realize that some defense attorneys seriously believe in the "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" and treat all clients this way. Also, there are defense attorneys who know about all the innocent people that were convicted and they honestly want to help those who are falsely accused. Defense attorneys are not all monsters.
Joel Sommer Yes maybe a minority but the vast majority know full well their clients are as guilty as sin and still try to get them off heinous crimes. I truly do not know how they sleep with a clear conscience. You say they know all about innocent people being convicted, well what about when “ they know” they have just cleared a person who is overwhelmingly guilty. It works two ways my friend. It doesn’t wash.
@@terencehennegan1439 sounds like you don’t believe in the American system of justice. Everyone deserves a vigorous defense, this reduces possibility of innocent person getting convicted.

Wtf this Bloke ain't really a lawyer, the real one was unable to make it, so this make out one came and threw him under the bus Worse lawyer ever, he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.
The reason that the prosecution is so much more interesting to listen to is that the prosecution is delivering an impassioned closing argument based on fact and information that we all believe. The defence’s arguments are based on lying and deception that is simply not convincing.
It cracks me up that The Baldy Bros decided to shine the glare on Angela Wright for whatever reason....I was laughing and missed it! I’m such a sucker for antisocial behaviors that I actually read Missouri newspaper reports, including interviews with family members, and even listened to a 2+ hour long interview with Sievers’ girlfriend from 9th grade....yes, the one who was instrumental in introducing him to Wright! She remained a very close friend of his until after Teresa’s funeral, and when she was in Florida, he actually invited her to the Murder House, which blew her mind....anyway! I feel totally confident in my view that there is absolutely no way Angie Wright had anything to do with this horrible crime. Sievers should have plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence....he was NEVER gonna get away with this!
This attorney is a joke - looks unprepared. Handwritten notes? Typewritten looks more prepared. There is no flow and he needed to take the pen out of his hand. (Also, needs a better fitting jacket.)
The incompetence in this trial didn’t stop with the criminals, it also included the defense lawyers. Their crosses were horrible, but this is pathetic. He’s a Bonner and so is this lawyer’s law practice after this aired.
The problem with the feeble defense case is that Curtis Wright didn't have any personal reason to kill Dr. Sievers. Instructing a person to commit a homicide makes you guilty of that homicide. Just ask Charlie Manson.
OK - it's a tough call when you take on a client who's obviously as guilty as hell. But this is an incoherent mess - it the face of a mountain of evidence you need to at least raise some doubt in the jury's mind with a strong, coherent theme: "If it doesn't fit you must acquit". A random wander through miscellaneous points isn't going to do the job. If I was a juror, this wouldn't have even given me pause for thought...
One can only agree how a failure to contextualize his rebuttals renders them as incoherent. Photographic evidence puts the murderers in the place, the "burn" phones are the link that establishes Sievers involvement. A failure to rebut the evidence that the State presented is a waste of the defendants life?
@@lynnarthur1411 there is no defence given the fact that his wife is dead she had insurance and she wanted a divorce what a bastard his children have no mother and a father on death row he’s an evil bastard and his fate was sealed the moment he asked his buddy to help him kill Teresa.
This Lawyer is so nervous, he can’t even hide it by clicking the PEN U have no chance hang your boots, u r not lecturing a classroom of junior kids at school.
This has got to be the worst defense attorney I have ever seen, and I worked in law enforcement for 30 years. His closing arguments did more for the prosecution than the defense... basically he just said he didn't do it because I say he didn't and I'm a lawyer so you have to listen to me over the witnesses.
Damn. He fought three times to get that lame Thanksgiving dinner analogy in his closing statement. It's so stupid. He must've looked into a full length mirror when he thought up that one and beamed with pride at his perceived cleverness. 😂
I was watching this and I lost my husband and called my life long friend just screaming in the phone she was there shortly left work narrowing her car shares car. This man is the worst used her Mom as alibi and his mother to leave alarm off. This is sick
I watched this again and this is a horrible closing. Very very bad. Did he even have a theme? The issue was whether his client conspired to kill his wife. Everything else is irrelevant. However, if you’re going to focus on what is irrelevant, then at least be prepared. It was a sad closing. (Jimmy Rodgers’ attorneys also were horrible. The Prosecutors had a very easy case but they weren’t stellar either.)
What he should have done is put in a call to Hillary offered her half the money from the insurance and the case would never have made it to court. Oh well as Frank said I did it my way. RIP Theresa my heart goes out to your Mom she lost her daughter to a monster
