I want to start out by explaining why I didn't posted any video last week.
I've been away for 10 days in Greece where I played with my Rebetiko band "Yá Mas" at a folkfestival at Skopelos. And because some of the members got sick there, I wasn't able to record anything with them. But now I'm back in my beautiful land of Sweden and will continue posting regularly!
Here’s one really old and mysterious tune called "Cluck Ol' Hen". The tune is a popular Appalachian fiddle and banjo tune often played in the mixolydian or dorian mode (I play it in dorian mode). The song is often played as an instrumental, which vary from one version to another.
One of the earliest reported transcriptions of the tune dates from 1886.
The earliest recording is attributed to Fiddlin' John Carson, in 1923.
Hope you like it!
