the saddest thing about this is it seems like Mike Jackson thought he was doing the right thing by taking it easy on Punk and letting it go the distance, then talking him up post-fight; but it was actually the nail in the coffin of his UFC career
one of the most awkward and cringe moments in UFC history is mike jackson's expression/stance when hes facing off against CM punk at the ceremonial weigh ins
@@stonecold316339 he didnt tho, he tried to but he just gave him more damage than CM shouldve taken, I hated watching that fight man no one deserves that punishment
@@stonecold316339 did Mike Jackson ever look like he wanted to finish the fight? Its not only the refs, stop blaming people, its a fight. They're not the ones getting punched it looked like weak punches but it adds up especially when you only get a break every 5 mins after getting beat up for 3 rounds. The ref is stupid but I feel like Mike blew it
@@stonecold316339 Pro entertainment wrestler, yeah. Not actual wrestling that's useful in combat sports. He tried, though, can't really shit on him for that
Holly Holm having zero respect for CM Punk and signing a poster where his face is at is one of the funniest fucking things I've ever seen in my life. Holy fuck.
Glad you put the actual best moments of this whole thing in which was Dana absolutely roasting the fuck out of Mike Jackson at the post fight presser 😅
@@ineffablenefarious2799 havent you heard? you can't make fun of someone who has more power than you...do you really think you can mock a rich person for being rich or a slim person for being slim
@@ineffablenefarious2799 yeah it’s almost as if the phrase ‘white power’ has been used by very different groups with very different intentions throughout history compared to black empowerment movements.
The funny thing is that Punk and Mike have the exact same pro record after this fight. First-round RNC loss to Mickey Gall and a no-contest against each other.
Haha poor CM, you can tell by the way other fighters interact with him that they don't take him seriously. CM certainly doesn't belong in the UFC but he seemed like a nice enough guy and was solid on the mic. Credit to him for giving it a shot too.
Idk I respect Jake more than Punk just because he can "fight" (boxing) and he isn't insulting MMA by trying compete in there without the skills to back it up... Say what you will about Paul but he respects MMA and how dangerous it is... CM punk on the other hand saying he could do it old with minimal training no real fighting skills and at a "pro" level is just insulting to mma sport as a whole......
I don’t get why everybody was so scornful towards punk. Was he a good UFC fighter: no, not even close. However, the guy was willing to do what no other wwe fighter/boxer (aside from James toney) was willing to do and actually lock himself inside the octagon. If you ask me, he deserves mad props for his willingness to step in there, even if he got his ass kicked twice.
It’s the ultimate fighting championship, not the mediocre fighting championship. Mans was already 4 years past his athletic prime by the time of that fight card. Not to be all “respect the sport”! and stuff but had he went for it a decade earlier in his life then maybe. picking up martial arts at 40 , there’s no chance of competing with the top fighters and going for the title
For $500K (Punk’s purse) I would literally fight anyone without a care in the world about losing. Folks saying “well, he had the guts”….that’s crazy. The guy is a millionaire….he paid for the best training in the world for years…..and this is all he could come up with? Had he paid his dues and was humble enough to take local fights (which he thought was below his stature), built himself up, and then earned a spot like all the hungry lions who earned their spot, yeah my outlook on it would be different…..but he’s a millionaire that wanted to fight in the UFC like it was a kid playing with a toy…..and then got his ass kicked twice.
I’d say the cm punk experiment went pretty well. It showed how hard it is in the ufc and it showed the heart of phil brooks. We knew the guy is passionate but you could tell he wanted to prove something. I’ll always be a fan of his and I respect what he tried to do
Seriously after all this year you still think they are respected ,dude make a joke of ufc thinking ut will are fake punch and slams mike could have killed him easily ,even a 15 year old kid can give a good fight than cm punk seriously
People like to crack jokes about CM Punk all the time, but at least he had the balls to fight real fighters. He also loves MMA, hence why he still trains. He didn’t do it for the money, and that’s what MMA is all about. Punk has my utmost respect.
@StepKickKing The word respect is brought up quite a bit in regard to CM Punk. I have to disagree with this. In my eyes CM Punk is very delusional and he thinks of himself so highly that he thinks he's a walking talking inspiration to everyone. Case and point: At the end of the fight with Mikey Gall CM Punk went over to Gall TO GIVE HIM LIFE ADVICE.....the guy just got his ass beat and he still feels like he's the one to be dealing out advice in that moment. I say sit down and shut up for once... you're not the inspiration in this moment, be actually humble... not fake humble. Just maybe it's time for you to listen and take a back seat. Punk was giving out advice in regard to disagreeing with Gall saying that neither of them are UFC caliber (absolutely true). Sure you could say Punk was just trying to be inspirational but it's not his time and place.... time to shut yer yap! Punk constantly behaving like this actually disgusts me a little bit.
I would fight Ngannou if I got 500k to show, let alone Gall and Jackson. Get over it. He’s the worst fighter of all time. He was also too old with no background in mma
Much respect for Punk stepping it up to the MMA scene. Honestly time had beat him and I bet he wishes that he had more time to have gained that more experience. Imagine if he had taken the MMA path instead of Pro Wrestling? Who knows.
Punk's main problem wasn't a lack of experience (Though that certainly was a big one). His problem was not being athletically gifted at all and completely devoid of any natural fighting ability. You take a lot of athletes off the street, give them 3 years of training and a lot of them would've done better than Punk. Add in the fact he was in his mid-late 30's, ehh. He should've known how this was going to go. Still much respect and love tho
@@jbaby2.0 Guy was ticking him and embarrassing him. A submission was far better then the unnecessary blows he took to the head. Dana is right on with this.
@@tony16991 I can accept that point of view. He was also giving punk a taste of the real world nothing too damaging. Probably tried to keep punks career alive
@@jbaby2.0 Jackson is black. I mean he literally has a "black power" tatoo. Dana is a good businessman and a crappy boss sometimes. Nothing to do with race.
I respect CM punk more than those paul brothers ....this dude actually stepped in the octagon twice at age 37 , got beat tho but had guts to this twice 🙏
Jackson - "I wasn't showboating, I don't know where White is coming from" Narcissists say what. His attitude and body language as he ground and pound Punk.. it was evident he was sending a message not only to Punk but others like Punk.
Still would have had his ass handed to him. Whether he's 39 or 24, he never had an ounce of explosiveness or athletic talent. He was able to hide that a bit with pro wrestling, but his age would have made no difference in MMA.
You ever watch two people play a competitive video game for the first time and it's obvious they don't know what they're doing? This is the closest will ever get to that in the UFC.
