There will never be another Coach K. 42 years at the same school is something we'll likely never see again, let alone the amazing success he made commonplace.

I was 8 years old when coach K took over Duke and as I type this I've just turned 50 today. So I've seen his entire career at Duke. So many great games and memories. He's the GOAT of college coaches in my opinion. Growing up in North Carolina you bleed Duke or Carolina Blue. Two great teams with history's most programs dream about. Congratulations to Carolina and thanks again Coach K.

Never in my life have I been more glued to the tv until tonight. Tonight the whole nation got to see a very historic college basketball game involving a very historic and intense in state rivalry and might I say college basketball’s #1 rivalry of all time and a hard fought win for UNC in the end but they beat Coach K’s last Duke team and a very memorable dedicated Duke team at that and I got to learn tonight just how much of a Dukie I really am and I hope I get to tell someone who has not been born yet the feelings and experiences of a slight disappointment that I had when Duke lost and the very strong sense of pride and respect that I have for Duke with how far they made it in this year’s tournament and that I got to watch Duke and UNC play against each other in the NCAA Tournament for the very first time and coming from a Dukie myself, Congratulations to UNC and their fanbase for getting to the promised land against Kansas, As a Dukie I will be rooting for you to defeat Kansas in the National Championship Game as I am a fan of upsets regardless of which team would need to win in order to make it an upset. Congratulations on a nice long run Coach K’s last Duke team and Congratulations on a very successful career Coach K., on behalf of myself and the whole NCAA basketball family Thank You for everything you have done and I wish you a great retirement as it’s well deserved by you and anyone else to have a great career and retirement!!! 🔵🔵😈

Hey Coach K.......even though I'm a dude from Maryland who's old-school ACC roots tell me I'm supposed to hate Duke with every fiber of my being (and I mostly do lol), that was one of the top 3 NCAA tournament games I've watched in my entire life. Congrats on a great career!

Started watching Duke when I was 10 years old. I’m so fortunate to be able to say I watched a goat coach some of the greatest basketball in history. It’s sad to see you retire, but I’m grateful for what you’ve given the game over the decades.

I am not an American. I originally just knew him as Chuck Daly's junior coach at the US Olympics Dream Team then later becoming their head coach in their later versions. I just learned thanks to the internet a decade ago that this man has many an NBA superstar under his wing in their stint at UNC. Sad to see him leave like this but someone has to lose. I hope he gets all the flowers while he's still with us.

I maybe a Carolina fan but this man is the greatest coach of all time bar none. I love Dean Smith but K accomplished more than Dean ever did and more. Not many people can take a basketball team at a small private school with little to no history on their side and turn them into an empire. Nothing but respect for the one and only Coach K.

Not a Duke fan in fact I can't stand em..but this time I was really wanting them to go out on top. Like Brady Jordan Sabian etc you don't have to like em but you gotta respect a dude that did what he did. Duke did it with class for years. You can tell coach k is a man of respect.
