Cobra 148 GTL
Radio had a few things going on with it but is all fixed now
The following I found wrong:
Limiter cut
Coils spread apart
Sloppy soldering
No modulation
Clarifier mod was done
After fixing everything and putting the clarifier to stock, the radio now works as it should.
The problem with the radio having NO modulation was due to a shorted cap in the power supply chain to the mic amp circuit.

I bought my 148gtl back in 1990 new. In 2012 after 10 years of non use I powered up the 148gtl and discovered no audio. I spent a couple of days tracing circuits and sure enough C18 was bad. Its was kind of funny. When i saw the thumbnail I new before watching i was pretty sure i new where the failure point was. Nice job 73

Please... Where are you sourcing your large format schematics? I have a 148 with no power to the channel selecto and a no transmit/recieve. I dont know where to probe.

I have the complete service manual for the radio. If you need help on your radio, call me & I will gladly help you out. We can chat about it on the phone and & I can walk you through a few steps to check for you to try & fix it yourself, save you $$$$ sending it here unless you want to send it here for me to fix but I can help you either way, thanks! 315-945-1600. Trying to find a Sam's for a 148 is not easy , I wish I wouldn't have sold all my Sam's back in 99 ....

Hi im Ronald from Cape Town South Africa i got a cb radio royce 639 i found out my am power is low and it is of frequency to on ssb i open it up i cant find the right pots to fix it i need help please
