Cheers mate, that's what it was sold as, do you think it could be m4 commonly know as coconut mango. Was very late season and the other mangos did have a coconut flavour and were very good, up there with the best I've had.
Great work mate would love to see some more tasting videos on other mangoes you have? There is so little info coming out of aus on tasting everything is US based
Cheers mate, I since ate a really ripe coco cream and it was amazing, I have flowers on my orange sherbert, lemon meringue and lemon zest so hopefully do a taste test of these this summer. My cotton candy, fruit punch, sweet tart, taiwan gold and kasturi won't fruit till the following year. This spring I am going to a fellow stfc members farm that has 330 varieties of mangos, will do a video of that.
When they’re more yellow with a little green they will have a strong coconut flavor, it’s closer to pineapple when more green than yellow and when its all light green it’s more like an atalfo.
Nice, glad you did a review. So many factors though isnt there. Ripeness, age of tree, amount of rain we have had, personal taste etc. But I imagine as the tree gets older and possibly without as much rain. Might be able to detect more of the coconut flavours.
Foe sure Will, most fruit is better second year and I think it could have been riper, I wasn't going to upload it but thought I'm not just gonna upload stuff that's perferct.
Hi Doug, just had my first Glenn mango after 3 years in Sydney. A bit underwhelmed by the taste (milder compared to KP). Hopefully, they get better with age. Coconut cream is also on my list to grow. They're super popular on all those Florida videos.
Hey Muhammad, I have eaten two more of these mangos since the video and they were outstanding. Had a mango/pineapple/citrus flavour with an after-taste of coconut water. I can't wait to try my orange sherbert, lemon zest and lemon meringue next year now. I have a Glen and the flavour is a little milder on mine as well, hopefully they get a bit better as the tree ages.
@@dougs_urbanfarm Hi Doug, thanks for the follow up. Guess what, I had my 2nd Glenn from the same tree. This time it just dropped itself and the taste was much better compared to the one I riped on the bench. Now you're tempting me to plant all these fancy Zill varieties :-)
@BloggerEngineer yeah mate, there can be a bit of variation on the same tree. Yesterday I visited some fruit growers in northern new south Wales and tried my first orange sherbert mango. It was outstanding, mango and almost Fanta flavour, can't wait till mine fruits now. I actually have a few more coming from people I know, fruit punch, pina colada and zills late. Yeah I know, where the hell will I put them!
@@dougs_urbanfarm hi Doug, I'll be up in Brisbane next week. Any suggestions where to source some of these varieties? I'll be meeting Asher from Tropical Planet Nursery so will be getting a couple from there anyway.
I'm sure will improve with tree age - wonder if Orange Sherbet Zills is similar or Lemon Zest like Calypso -i here em lol - i do love a half ripe Nam Doc tho 🌴
Hey Mark the other 3 coconut cream mangos I had were really good, I left them to ripen up a bit more and had a beautiful mango/pineapple/coconut flavour. I am looking forward to some orange sherbert next year, I had some at someone's house and they were awesome half Fanta half mango flavour, very unique and good
@@dougs_urbanfarm Aesome - Zills do sound good / different {LOL Aldi} hope to taste oneday - my most rated different mango had was an Indian import -very unusual but likeable flavour something like Bakupari or other - cant remember ✔️
@melbournesubtropicfruits9474 I have accidentally ended up with a few varieties of mango now! Have kp,royal red, kwan, coco cream, king thai, choc Anon, lemon zest, lemon meringue and Glen. Recently picked up fruit punch, kasturi and taiwan gold. Still have a pina colada getting grafted for me that I should get next month. I like mangos but my wife loves them!
@@dougs_urbanfarm That late graft of Irwin I did late January onto Honey Gold seedling thought would fail but we had great night temps - im hoping the seedling Honey Gold fruit growing on it tastes as good as love HGs
