Great vid , been playing since waw , hardcore lvl 1000’s high rounds etc, I agree 100 % zombies is so lazy now to attract fortnite kids . It lacks the darkness , look how bright the new maps are . You can literally stand in a horde for 30 seconds zombies is ridiculously op and people still suuuuck , you can craft self revives
Thank you! I can deal with easy maps, but they need to give us 4 dedicated, fully voiced characters. Half, and I mean HALF, of the excitement of a new map for myself, was getting to hear the new dialogue from the player characters. They should make weaver, grey and the other to voice over handlers, what ever they are, as the people you play as. They may not be super interesting, but it's better than the mostly voiceless operators we have to use.
Really my only complaint about it is the lack of unique characters or dialogue They could have at least given the operators some unique lines for zombies when doing the different objectives or with the box, like the previous games
I totally agree there, I wish the operators would at least make comments about getting a nuke or instakill, or even after drinking a perk as instead it's just silence and I personally hate that.
@@xurmaker were talking about talking about perk drinking power ups, or talking with each other. especially the opposing faction voice lines they could have had.
@@xurmaker I play Woods' and my friend plays Park, honestly they only have like three or four lines they constantly and repeatedly cycle through, although my fav for Woods is the "New world record for meatheads smoked!" line lol. Maxis, however, has some seemingly high amount of voice lines, I think I've only one heard one or two repeated (but I've only played two games of Zombies since I've gotten her). Still though, would be nice for the Operator's to react to the world around them, like mentioning things about Perk tastes, ammo count, etc. I guess everyone just got used to how expressive the characters were in the past when interacting with nearly everything, since Black Ops 1 actually. It's just so jarring to take that away, y'know?
@@Dylan-xx2tk oh yeah, there is obviously vast room for improvement, and it can make the world feel a bit empty, but I was just pointing out that there is some effort being put down. I think what a lot of people are failing to realize this year is that treyarch had to cover sledgehammers ass and save the floor from under them because they failed to put out a functioning product. They had to rush a lot of the entirety of the game, and I think in that context (aside from being an unfinished 60 dollar game with egregious microtransactions) is doing very well considering. I hope they take the time to get with the voice actors and have them do some simple stuff for environments, perks, ammo ect. but I also wanted to point out some good they did. like dude, just the other day I was playing as the new operator Naga and he got pissed cause he almost died and he says "YOU'RE DAMN LUCKY IM HERE, WEAVER" like, shit like that is what made me fall in love with zombies in the first place, and it's good seeing effort put into it.
I actually was excited when Samantha came out of that dome. I thought maybe the story would actually start. Then I realized this is Activision and she's just a skin...
Samantha: "Sup, I'm relevant." Activision: DON'T FORGET TO BUY THE MAXIS OPERATOR BUNDLE, COMING TWO WEEKS AFTER THE LAUNCH OF SEASON TWO!! AREN'T YOU GUYS EXCITED?!
I mean, while multiplayer isnt canon, the dark aether storyline is just beginning, think that it took them almost a decade to make sense of the original aether storyline so yeah, Sam coming out of that dome is the beginning of the story :)
Option 1: Take Vlad Mahas side and take over the work by playing kino. Option 2: Take Poops Poops side and leave kino behind for the better of humanity. *Made by telltale games*
Bricky, I haven’t played zombies since BO2, but man I just love hearing you talk with such passion about everything. I can tell you really care. It makes me remember all the late nights with friends before we all left college and started working full time. Thank you for bringing those memories back up for a bit.
@@boyeri3558 I mean, microtranactions were not that bad compared to a LOT of other games, plus it was just different guns, not much better or worse, and whats wrong about advanced movement lol, only problem with it is that its being overused, the ultimate thing was fucking awesome
Alright, let’s clear the story part up. Nikolai kills everyone, we know that, he destroys the multiverse and makes a new singular universe that ends up as the campaigns but with zombie outbreaks.
Yeah the story does make sense, my issue is how GODDAMN BORING IT IS. (Obviously this is all my opinion) There are 0 fun or interesting characters, the only one that resembles sortve interesting is Sam and she is just as generic as the rest. Like cool she gets tossed into the dark aether and has the boys' stuff. She's just as much of "random military/scientist guy" as the rest, which is literally every singular character in this game. The coolest character we've gotten so far is FREAKING ORLOV! Just because he had a little emotional depth and redemption with his family and his sacrifice. The game is appealing to the larger COD community and it seems to be at the cost of some zombie vets, whether it ends up working for them I can't say but it sucks to see.
@@calumbarry1829 I get that, but remember we only have two maps and they added many more operator lines than there were at launch. This set things up, you know everyone, now they can expand upon them in the future maps. I suggest you be a bit patient and if it doesn’t get better, I’ll be complaining too.
@@StimmBehr I can appreciate your optimism but I don't think it's anywhere near likely. Yeah I agree that maybe Weaver and Sam will get a little more personality but the rest will be left to dry, especially the operators. There extra lines are just "wall buy here, found speed cola, heavy enemy there" they won't get anything. If my character has no weight in the story other then being a mere vessel then I cant put myself into the game. Just imagine the story of bo3 where you hunt down the old ultimus characters, but instead it's just faceless operators. The Firebase Z cutscene is the perfect example, it's literally just GTA Online. They just sit by a helicopter or jump in a truck. I do have hope that by the next game it'll be better, but this games systems just won't allow what we're both hoping for.
@@calumbarry1829 I don’t expect the ops to get characterization, just more lines. It’s pretty clear thought they’re setting up making Maxis, Weaver and the comm people way cooler.
Treyarch during BO4: “Ok guys, let’s focus entirely on story” Treyarch during Cold War: “Ok so focusing on story didn’t work guys so, let’s focus on Gameplay in general.” Verdict: You can’t focus on one part and leave the other one as after thought. You have to have a balance between Good gameplay and Good story. Excellent gameplay with bad story will only keep you playing for so long. On the other hand, too much focus on Story with weak gameplay won’t keep you playing either.
Black Ops 3 to me felt like the last 'traditional' zombies experience, and the map variety means I always have it installed. I love Cold war zombies though, the gameplay and progression is great
I agree, but if zombies continues like this and dont give any personality, it feels for me the last zombie game that gave me that amazing personality and all would be black ops 4, like some of those maps are insanely good, although their mecanic was wildly different
@@kingatl4036 I said they haven’t released all the perks yet, Obviously I’m talking about cold war. Why would you even think I was talking about an older game when I mentioned the perks not being released YET? I fucked up thinking he meant origins has more perks then cold war does, But yeah man of course when I mention the perks not all being released I was talking about the current game.
They cared in making zombies a nice enjoyable experience for everyone, even someone who hasnt played zombies ever. Probably to attract people an extra inch to buy CW, however since zombies maps are free once you have the game, they didnt care in adding to much depth, since they are no selling dlc´s IMO.
I'd agree with that sentiment but personally I'd say they sorta failed in that attempt and it isn't really their fault because it was inevitable. It's tough to try and appease both ends of the audience, that's being seen a little with zombie veterans not loving this game. (By veterans I don't mean youtubers and stuff because those guys shill everything Treyarch on the planet until everyone else dislikes it, then they'll hate on it, take bo4 for example.) I do hope it ends up working for them, I just hope they don't end up abandoning the roots and focusing entirely on this new player base because it seems to be going in that direction.
@@calumbarry1829 So yeah... 2 years later in retrospect Cold War had a lot of potential but Outbreak managed to divert resources from round based to outbreak and it caused Activision to want more zombie content for more money so they brought Treyarch in for Vanguard and now Modern Warfare 333... The story Treyarch set up at the end for Cold War was a pretty decent prolouge but how tf are they supposed to actually start off strong if Activision keeps diverting them to other games as well... I just hope that this 4 year development is gonna be enough and that those other projects aren't gonna stop them from making actually good zombies in their own game
This is so true, I kept playing CW zombies and I kept wondering why was this game so... Bland, like the characters we play are stone-cold killers with a teaspoon of personality that are killing already dead people, Treyarch making zombies more simple for new players is what made it different from it's predecessor.
i think the reason this game has no personality is that there’s no “crew” we got used to the likes of primis ultimus victus the chaos crew the mob crew and the shadows crew that there were a set 4 characters that had their own specific personalities and storylines unlike cold wars operators. it’s very difficult to give every single operator a specific personality since like before the personalities affected the story line that’s why i think treyarch didn’t put much in the personality trait in the operators
No music, no challenge, no atmosphere, bland and ugly maps, no weapon feels bad and many feel the same, nothing is special. It's not just the operators.
@@TokyD0069 Yeah. It really does suck. So far I've tried Park, Adler, the two default ones, and that one sniper dude. They all feel almost the same, with different VAs. At least in my opinion.
I know people have been pulling the “it was made during a pandemic” and “they switched studios” cards for this game but I think the lack of personality in zombies is a perfect example of how that affected the development. Hopefully they can correct ship in the future as Activision is seeming to push to make zombies a whole separate experience like Warzone.
I've never seen anyone prefer the operator system. Not one. I would take the Victis crew, I would take the chaos crew, I'd take the exo zombies crew, hell I'd even take a squad of 4 JACKIE FUCKIN VINCENT'S over this mess.
@@calumbarry1829 i dont prefer it, but i don't hate it. I dont mind having no set crew. The way the story has been set up makes sense as to why there isnt a set team. My only problem is that they don't interact enough. They have absolutely NO conversational quotes. With Alpha Omega, they did over 10,000 lines for the 8 characters. It shows that Treyarch can go to such lengths but they cant be asked to put the money into it.
@@Nekiplex Yeah there are plenty who don't hate it, just doesn't seem to be anyone who prefers it. The thing about this system is they will literally never interact enough, don't hold out hope they'll do it later because they fundamentally cannot, use Alpha Omegas 10000 lines for example, obviously that was a RIDICULOUS amount. It was great to have and by no means the status quo but it's an example. These lines were split into 4 different voice actors, meaning 2500 for each. If you wanted this interaction in cold war, that would need to be 10000 lines for every voice actor they have and will ever have. (obviously I know that's not what you're asking for, just more then 10 would be nice) but you get my point. If they added in characters saying quotes during egg moments or something like that then every single operator would have to record that line. That's why I hate this system, the feign that it's freedom to choose who you want to play when it's really just stealing any soul from the characters. I mean who tf cares who you're playing as seeing as they're the exact same?
@@FlippyisSlippy thing is they can't be, if you want to do a system like this you can't flesh it out because of the sheer workload you would have on your hands. Every voiceline has to be recorded by at least 20 different people right now and every operator they'll ever add. It's either what they're doing right now or the classic crew system.
Yeah men, you explained it all perfecly, cw zombies it feels so empty and generic, i wish they bring back to zombies that essence and personality that zombies had before, maybe this can happen in that rumored Standalone Call of Duty Zombies.
@@smugplush were the first zombie maps that incredible? This is a story in the beginning, it needs to be established. There won't be any giant worms anytime soon.
@@lljw7151 Source? From what I follow the next map can take place in Berlin with a part of Kino, just like Die Maschine with Natch. This is not a remake.
I KNOW RIGHT, nobody's acknowledging it and it's so annoying becouse now they won't change anything and all future zombie games might be as bland as this one
The only real COD Zombies map I really remember actually playing was Origins. As a kid (yes I am young enough to say that) my cousins and me would load up on Origins and just screw around. My favorite part of the map was the Giant Robots stomping around and we would trick each other into walking into their footprints and dying.
I was literally thinking about this the other day although the gameplay works super well the maps just have no soul which is ironic considering it’s a game about resurrected souls
Honestly when I saw the trailer for zombies I thought it would be a bit more horror based. Like, you're a Soviet soldier armed with a rifle and a flashlight attached to it, and you enter down into what could only be described as a horrifying hellhole. And yet what we got is a colorful arcade game. Not what I was expecting, personally. - Just feels like lost potential to do something unique or different. Seriously imagine that sort of zombies for a second. Pretty dark wherever you're at and you're armed with a rifle you probably don't even want to use but are stuck with it, and you have a flashlight being one of your only light sources. Could argue it's too big a gamble. But zombies feels... Stale. Being arcady and all that.
This vid is so spot on, I always rant about this to my friends whenever we decide play zombies Cold War zombies, hope they add characters in the future or at least add more depth to the setting/theme
Great video! I completely agree with everything you said. But I just like to point out that the story isn’t a reboot but it continues on from where BO4 left off. After Nikolai sacrificed his life and the crew to destroy all off the dimensions and fractured universes, a singular universe was created which Samantha and Eddie walked through. That new universe is where Cold War Zombies continues the story.
I'm very late to answer this, but the reason Samantha Maxis (and other things from the previous storyline) exist is cause this is a soft-reboot so to speak. It is a continuation of the original storyline, set in the universe that Nikolai created at the very end of Tag Der Toten Every point you've made in this video I 100% agree with! (except maybe the plot being bad, I kinda like some of the stuff they're doing with the plot)
Actually, there was a Treyarch Dev comment on why they made the easter eggs so much easier. Apparently, prior to Cold War Zombies, only ~2% of players actually did them, so they just figured it'd be better to invest in other areas rather than make an overly elaborate easter egg. With the exception of the easter eggs being too short, I agree with everything you said.
I literally made a video about this by comparing Die Maschine on release against SOE three months ago, would love to know your thoughts on the video because I feel like we covered VERY similar topics!!! So glad a big content creator is able to talk about this because it is exactly what I thought about the game too
I just want to say I was one of those people who liked shadows of evil when it first launched but that doesn’t mean I was one of the people who thought IX would be better than voyage of despair Also to explain how this new timeline works it’s basically this After tag der toten the multiverse was destroyed and everything in it was banished to the dark aether, then there was 1 singular timeline that was created with this “banishing”. This is where Sam and Eddie went to in the end of tag der toten. This new timeline is basically just a world without element 115, apothicans, keepers and 3 of the 4 main characters(Dempsey, Nikolai and Takeo). This Eddie isn’t even really the old richtofen(s) either considering he never joined a group that used 115 to help the war effort or went to other timelines and dimensions to cause calamities and chaos. This richtofen is practically a different person. This singular timeline that everything takes place in is basically just MW, vanguard and Cold War mixed together unlike the previous multiverse where they were in the same multiverse but not the same universe/timeline.
Bricky you noob, Samantha Maxis was a little girl in World at War who got corrupted by the MPD after snooping around looking for her doggo and Richtofen trapping them in a teleporter. She's got some sort of Zombie mind control powers and Maxis wanted to save her daughter as a robot to send her to Agartha. Monty didn't like crazy Maxis trying to mess up the world, so he removed him and now Samantha is trapped in Agartha asking to be freed by alternate versions of the Ultimus characters. Then Samantha gets freed and Monty gives her innocence temporarily to live in peace in his world. Samantha didn't know Monty wanted her dead when the Primis found out about the cycle, so Maxis from the Origins dimension Richtofen sent through a robotic drone when freeing Samantha ended up trying to save Samantha and the innocent soul of Eddie from when Richtofen was innocent to the teleporter so Monty couldn't stop them. Nikolai closes the loop and ends off his life by Samantha and she is able to escape in the new world free from Aether corruption and hence why she's in Cold War all grown up. It's not that hard bro
Hey thanks for reminding me of the short but sweet 6 month period when I was 14 where all I did was play Black Ops 2 Zombies for hours and days on end. Gonna go listen to Shepherd of Fire for 8 hours.
Lack of personality is EXACTLY the way I’ve felt about it. The old story and feeling of the other maps was so memorable but the new game has you play as generic nobodies or at best someone from campaign and it barely feels like there’s much of a story here. The gameplay is great I like Cold War zombies a lot actually but the old ones are better
My main complaints are that it’s just too easy and the maps are bland. The maps taking place during the day kills the vibe of the maps as well. The gameplay is fun enough, but it just gets boring. The lack of maps hurts as well.
Completly agree, just re installed to try it out and died of boredom in 5 min. Feels like there is no purpose and Its so easy you can do basicaly whatever and not think about what you re doing, Its braindead
I enjoyed it I just didn't like the fog I don't mind the idea of zo bie monies jumping on my face if I go into a certain area and lava slowing me down in this areas but the fog was a little annoying and the fire near jug was also annoying too it didn't feel like it added to the game
Strictly gameplay-wise, one other major benefit for someone like me is that Cold War's Zombies mode actually plays very well with how COD's current progression system works and with weapon attachments With SBMM kinda turning MP and Warzone into something akin to a willing hell, it actually makes it very easy to rank up weapons and get the attachments that I want without having to deal with an MP experience that can actively get worse for me the better that I perform in a match. There's also that progression now carries over across both Cold War and MW/WZ, so I can actually make progress in the Battle Pass and rank up and even earn a free tier skip or 2 thanks to the new Prestige system. Cold War's Zombies mode also gave a place for normally underused or outright avoided attachments to work. The kinda pointless barrels that did more vehicle damage now have far more viability and utility thanks to the fact that they boost armor damage in Zombies, which can absolutely shred any normal or even special zombie that's wearing armor. Alternatively, attachments that hurt ADS time or Sprint-To-Fire time or sometimes effective damage range suddenly don't really have an egregiously bad downsides because those kinds of stats don't really matter either because they're not important in the first place or the perk cans can quickly make up for those negatives. Cold War's Zombies mode opened up my eyes to how much I missed out with the Zombies mode in all the past games, to the point that I'm willing to rebuy them again on Steam just so I can go back with the new knowledge that the mode gave me. But even with my limited knowledge of how the original Zombies mode story was, it was still more than enough to know just how...bland and lifeless the current storyline is, even moreso because there's genuinely a lot a room for there to be an interesting story in which the Cold War turns from a nuclear arms race to a race to fight both zombies and the dimension that the new powers come from. It's so damn lifeless that the most fun I've had storywise is just from being in random lobbies with people and using the gesture system to communicate and interact and help whoever I match with. *For fuck's sake, we have WEAVER, WHO WE HAVEN'T SEEN SINCE THE ORIGINAL BLACK OPS BACK IN 2010* I'm really happy with the way that Zombies mode plays, even moreso because it's more friendly towards everyone while still maintaining a lot of depth for those like me who end up wanting to further their survivability in the mode. Now it needs to improve on it's story and personality like you said. Also, this showed up in my recommendations so now I'm subbed!
This video summed up my thoughts on cold war exactly! You are 100 percent correct, they need to bring back some actual talking characters into this game or honestly we could be looking at the worst zombies experience yet!
Dead of the night gets way t o much shit, the mini bosses were annoying at launch but were fixed quickly yet everyone still brings them up. And everyone's shutting on the crews annoying dialogue yet no one mentions the annoying random people on cold war who hav ed a giant pitchure taking up the screen and repea tg the same lines every game every time you turn on power, pack a punch, mini bosses, wonder weapon I mean it's so much worse than dead of the night
@@ErensSmiledog Choosing a perk doesn’t really matter anymore since they all are kinda bland and not that useful . There is no progression since you start off with 200 health and a OP specialist . The HUD is terrible , unnecessary changes were made like the points system , the way zombies move , perks . Also the graphics look worse than BO3 . Then again it is all my opinion so feel free to disagree with me . (Except for the BO3 graphics being better than BO4 , that’s a fact )
100% agree, I've been grinding out a lot of Cold War Zombies recently, and while I absolutely adore the gameplay changes, I can already tell that having to hear "Another zombie KIA" 500x on a high-round is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY more boring and annoying than hearing the Primis crew spout their lines on repeat on Rev and Eisen
I think Cold War zombies has personality because it’s so different from old school zombies. It plays completely differently, but in a good way. Before Firebase Z dropped, I was playing Die Maschine every single day because I think it’s such a fun map. My only complaint is that the characters are boring. We need some Zombies Exclusive operators
This kinda reminds me of Borderlands 3, Zombies is flawed in similar fashion. It's the kind of flawed that leaves you empty, if not a little irritated, instead of making you want more...
I personally just love the game play I never payed attention to the story. Kino has now became my 2nd favorite map & DIE Machine is now my favorite map.
Someone needs to watch some MrWaffles videos Cold War Zombies takes place in the new timeline that Primus crew created, young Sam and Young eddie were able to make it to this new timeline. It is believed that Old Sam is the same Sam. The zombie's part seem to have arisen due to this new timeline tapping into the dark aether. This is believed to be where all the old timelines fell into after the wipe that primus did. Some folks seem to have survived the wipe and still live in the dark aether somehow. New Reboot maps will probably be in the dark aether
Dude, this video sums up how I feel about zombies. I too am "HARD" for zombies. I'll add one thing though. All of BO4 and some of BO3 maps, the easter eggs feel like they are made specifically for youtubers. The youtubers that love to speedrun it on the first day to push out a tutorial. I HATE THAT, because the "EE's" are incredibly hard ESPECIALLY as a solo player as myself which some require a full squad. But this video was very necessary and I appreciate you bricky.
The storyline really isn’t that complicated. Bo4 zombies banished all worlds to the dark aether and created a new one, the new modern warfare and black ops universe. Samantha and a younger version of richtofen were the only ones who travelled to the new world.
Black Ops 4's ending carries over into Cold War's beginning. At the end of Black Ops 4, the Primis and Ultimus crew sought to create a singular universe where no Zombies existed. They killed themselves so the universe could be set right; nobody would remember them and Samantha and Eddie could go off into a better future. Cold War takes place in that universe, only the Zombies are still here because of the Dark Aether spilling into our dimension, where the two Crews are now trapped inside, their souls wandering the DA. The Samantha we see in Cold War is that same Samantha from BO4. All that leaves is Eddie unaccounted for; who is funnily enough the younger Edward Richtofen. Richtofen is in this universe somewhere. So they're not all entirely gone, it's just a different version of him but we're used to seeing multiple Richtofen's anyway. Black Ops 4 takes place in the 60's, Cold War in the 80's.
The way he summed up Cold War zombies was perfect. Treyarch needs to see this video because they really think Cold War zombies is so bad ass but in reality there’s somethings just missing, and this guys explains exactly what’s missing.
@@smugplush Your speaking straight facts . I honestly used to be one of those guys that shitted on Transit 6 years because TSP shitted on it and after thinking about it , Transit isn’t as bad as everyone says it is , it can be a fun map . It’s all about the bandwagon .
@@smugplush I don't think so, tranzit and die rise are bad maps by default. Tranzit has the annoying fog, denizens, avogrado, shitty power, shitty layout, with terrible pace. Die rise is the same, a map where you can die more to fall damage than zombies is itself a big problem. Just look at the other maps and you will see that both of these maps just sucks ass
Unpopular Opinion: Cold War zombies has more personality than most zombies. If the developers went crazy with outlandish maps with the first few maps most people would hate it. The idea of taking a more "military approach" to combat the zombies is something that has barely been touched on. The idea that we play as military operators but have Samantha Maxis as an ally is cool. With all that we know about Samantha in the old Aether storyline, Cold War zombies adds mystery to the story because we are just waiting for everything to unravel again. It's really interesting seeing how normal people deal with a zombies outbreak instead of these evil scientists and magical beings. In my opinion this video was a bit premature knowing that this is only two maps in, but eventually we will get those BO3 level maps but they will feel much better knowing that the storyline will be well thought out and planned instead of made up map by map. Great video though.
Samantha and llittle Richtoffen entered the new and only dimension that Nikolai created (see cutscene after the ending of bo4), and in firebase z samantha returned to the dark ether where the og crews died and she survived there, so there is a possibility that Victis (bo2 crew from tranzit), this is the only lore that matters in cod cold war
Saying "the story doesnt make sense and if it does its boring as shit" brings out the problem i have with your analysis, you are complaining about something that you don't even understand lol
I feel the Samantha cameo at the end of fire base Z was literally just there for people to go “oooohhh! Oooh my god wow that is awesome this is so cool it’s all the OG characters stuff!” To distract the fact that nothing made sense in the map. Play Lego Star Wars tho
I like what you said about casual players and more die hard players in the begining of the video. And your examples of maps on each side. I would like to add though that I really think that Der Eisenrache (spelling?) is really a perfect map for both. You put it in the die hard corner, which I get, since you have the bows and panzers and stuff. But beyond that the map is reeeally simple, which I love! I'm more of a casual player who have been playing alot though, but that map is juust the perfect amount of challenges and collecting for me not to get bored or confused and the perfect map for just training and getting all your stuff like sheild and PAP. Maps like Gorod Krovi is just hard to play honestly, in my opinion, the process to PAP alone is very time consuming and demands a decent amount of skills.
It just sucks to see that BO3 had the last Zombies maps that actually felt alive... Remember when people thought it was only gonna get better from there on out and everyone anticipating BO4? Little did we know we were living thru the prime, the all time high of Black Ops Zombies
As someone who is invested in the story, I find your lack in digging deeper for the story disturbing. There was a lot of intel explaining that EVERYTHING that happened up until the end of the Aether story gets sucked into the Dark Aether and when Peck threw Maxis into the Dark Aether, she was there for years when in reality was months, trying to use everything in the Dark Aether to help her survive. At the beginning of the Forsaken easter egg, Zykov (who became the Forsaken) said that he was stuck in the Dark Aether for 40 Years, equaling to 4 centuries in the Dark Aether. So, during the time that Sam was in the Dark Aether, her old soul must have been absorbed into her new body and giving her some of the old abilities that she had when she was subjected to the experiments when she was a child in the Aether storyline.
The operators themselves have a background that may not have the same charm as the old characters we were used to seeing and hearing. Also, you should take a look back at this game
I completely agree with you Bricky, but I personally enjoy how 'easy' / casual the maps in Cold War. CW is the first COD game I've owned and played since MW3, and I lobe how the gameplay feels. From the fluid movements of your characters, to the way you can get powerful if you know the strats, and even the way the game respawns you with several thousand points if you die in a late round. I also hope the easter eggs will remain relatively simple to do. Doing the Maxis mission in Firebase Z was hard enough with just me and one other friend, I can't imagine it being any fun doing it solo or doing something harder than that. However, I see your point about this zombies lack of personality. I can excuse the ops not having too many voice lines, but after takimg off my rose colored glasses for Weaver, I can't really say I know what the story for this COD is supposed to tell. Hopefully CW doesn't just keep bringing back old maps. I wanna on maps based around the Cold War era, not maps like. Going from a map like Moscow in to something like Express is already jarring since we're using guns from the 80's in a map set in like 2040. If Zombies continues that trend, I'll be very disappointed. I want more original maps!
ima clear this up real quick, the multiverse got sucked into the dark AETHER in bo4, the samatha in bo4, is the samantha in cold war, were not sure what her plan exactly is rn, and were not sure about eddy either
Perks that you need to buy every game like Jug and Quick Revive and I would add Speed Cola and Double Tap 2 so you don’t get to experiment with other perks as much when there is a 4 perk limit
Samantha and Richtofen (The Director) are both Samantha and Eddie from the original Aether timeline. However, despite supposedly this Richtofen not being under the influence of Element 115, I have a feeling that there's going to be some plot point like where he kept something from the forest or had some of Nikolai's blood splattered on him so he is still the scheming bastard he always was due to trace 115 delusions.
A lot of people don't realize that some features of Cold War Zombies come from Black Ops 4 and one thing I don't like about Cold War is how expensive things are like perks, pack-a-punch and salvage.
I never played bo4 or cold war but i did keep up with the story so i can explain what happend. Part 1 - samantha At the and of bo4 samantha and eddy walked into a black void with a light at the end of it. This light they saw was another timeline where richtofen dempsey takeo and nikolai never existed in the first place all the timelines that had them in it where earased. Part 2 - victus and destroyed earth The vicus crew came out of a timeline were the detruction of earth happend. But in the primis timeline the destruction of earth never happend becouse they destroyed the moon before the rockets on the moon could destroy the earth. So all the events of bo1 never happend in this timeline. And victus were transported to this timelines alkatraz and put into cryo chambers so that they can be used for something else later.
Agree, prob best gameplay wise but something missing. The og crew made the mode more of a connection, personality. Terrible decision getting rid of the old characters, they could feature less but not get rid completely.
14:58 cold war story is in the same universe as black ops and black ops 2, the new MW is also in that universe. the new zombies is also in that universe. at the end of BO4 the zombies multiverse got reset and sam and eddy went to the reset universe which is the BO universe
on day one of playing cold war zombies it just didnt feel right and i could never put into words why. You put it perfectly, the game lacks soul and interesting characters. Without a set crew and all the unique things the old games had it just feels like a generic zombies game. What makes it hurt more is i know Treyarch would never do this willingly, but since Activision loves money forced us to play as operators instead of a set crew to drive up operator sales. Craig Houston in black ops 4 would always talk about how he wrote thousands of lines for the different characters for each map and loved it. Now we just have generic base number 63 with generic operator number 3 with his 5 generic lines. Hopefully something changes but sadly i know it wont
This video was spot on. I love the gameplay of Cold War a ton, but it does feel lifeless. I hope that Treyarch can get crazier with the maps and story as the DLC season goes on, but I honestly don’t think that’s going to be the case. Like, it wouldn’t make sense for us to play as the operators for the first few maps and then have an actual cast of characters for the last few. I know they did that with World at War but that’s different. I do think getting the gameplay right is top priority which is something Cold War has done well, but I really want to be invested in the story and characters like I was with BO3 and that’s just not happening. The story honestly drove the hype out the roof for new maps.
