Suzaku doesn’t think him killing his dad was justified, he literally fell to the ground screaming when he was reminded. He judges everyone who plays outside the system because he did that and killed his farther, a mistake he’s regretted ever since. He’s not right but it’s understandable

I mean, Suzaku IS a super soldier. All knightmare frame pilots are implied to be the best of the best of the best soldiers and he himself is the perfect pilot for an experimental, dangerous unit that gives the pilot almost free use of the mech. It's still incredibly goofy, but yes, soldiers in this mecha anime are still metal gear levels of superhuman.

To answer your question about the mascot: In the sub, she's ordering from Pizza Hut. That's PHs japanese mascot. He wears the fedora because it's shaped like the Pizza Hut logo.

Abilities like Mao's sound like a blessing at first and the creative part of writing them is to show how that 'blessing' is more of a curse. Nobody can hide the truth from you. You become drowned in a sea of the truth just for trying to live a normal life out of solitude. What C2 did to Mao was diabolical. It's just easy to miss that part since they don't spend a lot of time on her own responsibility of the matter.

I'm also not a fan of how Lulu wiped Shirley's memory, but in his defense I can say... this behavior is absolutely normal for girls that age. And I say this as a person who took care of a group of 25 girls aged 12-18. They regularly had dramas, most often of a love nature, leading to one girl ignoring the other's existence. Or even teams were formed that ignored each other.

Like the Code Ment abridged series said about suzaku "You're fucking moral compass is a roulette wheel!"

loving the content and i hope you continue to enjoy the show all the way until the end. but one thing i think is important to remember is that Lelouch is still young and there are several moments in which his emotions overtake his logical mind, when he geass-ed Shirley's memory away, i dont think he was thinking logically, he was thinking more emotionally/empathically tring to give Shirley a way to escape the pain and torment from everything she was going through, same with Mao when Suzakus secret was exposed, Lelouch was seeing his best friend in distress because of Mao running his mouth, so he get angry and geass-ed Mao almost reactively, or at least thats how i saw it.

Fun fact, Code Geass episode 1 premiered Oct 5th 2006, ONE DAY after Death Note's premiere on Oct 4th 2006! Crazy how similar they are, yet they couldn't have influence from each other.

Suzaku doesn't think he was in the right to kill his father. He knows he did a terrible thing, and that's why he doesn't agree with Zero's methods. That kind of mindset only leads to loss. It's the mindset that took his father's life and Shirley's father's life as well. It's also why Suzaku is always charging into danger. He wants to die for his crime but wants to give his life for something that will have meaning.

Y’all do know Suzaku is well a “super” solider right? Like he’s training allows him to do all those things despite him being a human. I don’t get it what is there to be shocked about. Suzaku is quite a complex character maybe a bit more complex than Lelouch. Despite his flaws he’s a well written character

Lloyd is 29 in season one. Given Milly is a year up from Lelouch and the other council members, she is 18. So, 11 year age gap, but nothing illegal by our standards.

There was never a good solution to the Shirley Dilemma.

The small moments when you notice Nunnally is Lelouch's sister and part of the royal family. All the princesses are relatively composed in dangerous situations and Nunnally really shows how her brother has rubbed off on her. Especially because of their harsh upbringing.

Suzaku killing his father to stop the war, for me explained so much of his character he regrets it so much that he's obsessed always following the rules and never takes things into his own hands because the one time he did he accidentally killed his father and doomed his entire country's future. I'm not saying his hypocrisy is ok just that it makes sense as to why he's like that.

Death Note amd Code Geass came out around the same time. Death Note being earlier, but not by enough to shape Code Geass

The Mao trilogy is some peak Code Geass. It's probably my favorite arc in the series. There's still more great content to follow. It's just we have Lelouch fighting a fellow Geass user who is basically a hard counter to him. Mao is an idiot, but he's obscenely good at gas lighting people.

Episode 16 really just shows that Lelouch and Suzaku are an unstoppable duo. If Suzaku had joined Zero, there is little that could have stopped them.

If Suzaki didn’t kill his father japan would have been destroyed even more. They had no knigtmarles and at the time no technology to even stay up to them. and a lot of people would have pointlessly die. Granted you could debate if suzaku had the right to take that away from the people to continue fighting.

Apparently the writers at one point had an explanation for Suzaku's super human abilities. But it was one of the plot lines they had to drop due to timing.

IMO code geass is so good and I think reactors and anime fans with "media literacy" are able to understand this anime beyond the surface level (empire=bad and revolution=good ) you can see it in our main cast of characters but also side/minor characters. They can be male or female (also implied some of them could be gay or lesbian) Just like real world if you want to change the world you have to get your hands "dirty"

Something I never really thought about before that kinda made me see C.C. in a slightly more grey light regarding the Mao situation is that as far as we know she doesn't know what kind of Geass the people get when she makes a contract with them. It may seem kinda obvious if you think about it since each Geass is unique but that never really clicked to me, you know. I think if C.C. knew that Mao would have gotten that specific Geass to read people's minds involuntarily all the time she probably wouldn't have given him a Geass.

Suzaku is your friendly neighborhood Soldier-Man. 😂 Also i can see your point on Shirley thing, i guess i would have 2 excuses i could think of. Either he was emotionally unstable in that moment so he didnt think things through so he made a spur of the moment decision. And/or having less complicated excuse makes more sense and its bound to be less looked into then a complicated one. Thats why he choose something simple like them having a fight and encouraged everyone to play along. Tho i can see conflicts that could appear especially for the second one, cuz it looked like he threw caution into the wind and just gave a flimsy excuse.

Lelouch is at his best when all he has to worry about is thinking logically, so he made a huge mistake with Shirley, and he crumbled when Mao got introduced, he had to be snapped out of it by someone else both times, and he probably wasn't thinking very clearly when he used Geass to erase Shirley's memory of him.. because he got emotional. When he gets emotional he does the wrong thing and it tends to mess everything up almost immediately for himself because for as smart as he is he is not at all emotionally mature and it takes him a lot of time to overcome that..

I don't remember if it was confirmed or just a fan thing, but it's a rule that applies anyway, the more powerful a geass, the more restrictions it has. Like reading minds is cool yeah, but compared to complete and total hypnosis, it's kinda weak, so mao has few limitations while lelouch has a good few

I mean Tbf with lulu making Shirley forget everything my head cannon is that he was expecting he would have to leave the school fairly soon either way to move to the next step of his plan. Be it him faking his death and sending Nana to the homeland like you said or him having to lie to the ashford saying that they were found out that they were alive and had to flee. So long story short I believe he had to leave the school so it didn’t matter if she remembers or not. But another thing why didn’t he just say that it was due to a trauma block with he father death that’s more of an understandable answer then her being pissed at him. 37:00 also yes let’s tell the paralyzed blind little girl that she has a bomb hanging above her head smart…..

Of course he bothers you, because he is supposed to bother. He killed his father in 10, and kept this secret for 7 years because the Kirihara covered up the cause of death. Suzaku is a tradegy of a boy who is taught to be a just man. He considers himself guilty and trying to atone his sins by being the best he can without taking personal responsibility for his actions.

That chess match with Mao has always been one of my favourite episodes, and Zatch Bell shirt looks so good, Josh.

Every time watching this I can stop buth think of that the most crazy part of Mao trying to make C.C. "compact" is that she would survive this since she is immortal. 0o

Ive always hated his geass to shirley, but i cant think of a good single command to cover him being zero, him killing her dad, and address their personal history Loving the reactions and discussions! Highly recommend Fooly Cooly (FLCL). The main story is the first season and only six episodes but they are iconic!

Love the reactions!!! Can't wait for the next episode!!! Come on CODE GEASS fans where you at it's been a while since there is a reactors who focuses on the story and not just the hype. And by the way just don't mind some anime moments like can't be explained it's minimal the story(political) is what made this my favorite.

Now you can understand Suzaku better. For one the very lack of self preservation is due to his want/need to be pushined for murdering his father at such a young age. And the other is now the understanding of why Suzaku way of thinking is based on the value of life. And not the quality. For him, when his father wanted a due or die resistance, he acted against that, in order to give his father's death reason his psyche has to go all the way in with this train of thought. It's not so much the argument or discussion of why he is a hypocrite anymore because of those values are not of his concern. To him living even if oppressed is better than dying. If you look at everything he's done up till now with this mentality at all make sense of why he's so headstrong about preservation of life above all. Why he became an honorary bitranian and soldier makes sense two-fold both for his lack of value on his own life and for the high value of everybody else's. Way of living was never really part of the discussion for him. Seems like the concept of fighting for something worth dying for is very easily lost on him when the answer of why not just choose life instead every single time is the obvious choice. Doesn't make him any less likeable as a purely naive man child in the show but considering his trauma... One can atleast empathize, specially what his character brings into this bleak world.

I think the memory thing was just a bad move on the writer's part. Im fine with overlooking this mistake bc the rest of the story is so well written.

So triggered by Suzaku. He's not even written to be a hateful character. "When he does it, it's fine" No. He knows he was wrong that why he's suicidal. He's literally seeking punishment for what he sees as his crime. How are you arriving at the exact opposite of what the show is trying to tell you? This is just weird.

If this constant explicit Suzaku hate and despise keeps up, even after knowing his backstory and reasons (im not saying hes in the right, but it at least makes sense or explains his thinking and suicidal tendencies), and you guys criticizing him almost at every turn, it's gonna become difficult for those who are neutral towards Suzaku l/like Suzaku (yes he DOES have fans, just not very vocal) to watch the videos. I'm pretty sure Suzaku wad built as a character to be hated or despised either

Suzuka is the worst character in Anime

honestly, the mao section of the story is my least favorite. it doesnt seem to have alot to do with the main plot and introduces alot of loose threads that fall apart under scrutiny. really needed to suspend my disbelief during this part of the show

I would have loved to watch the reaction to this show if it had not been a dub... but still the like and the comments for support...

No matter what these people say, the dub is awful and isn’t translated very well. It’s an Americanized dub and it takes so much away from these characters.
