"The only ones that should kill are those prepared to be killed", Lelouch's death was the only way for this show to end.
@nahte123456

Sure, suicidal kid plans his own suicide, after several characters including Euphemia and Lelouch himself and talked up redemption for Suzaku or even C.C. and Nina. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful ending but it's by no means the "only way", and it's just kind of stupid when you think about it from the perspective that Lelouch was suicidal then his friends let him plan his death, again.
@IsilionNELE

The official guide book describes the Zero Requiem so beautifully: "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death"

Holy shit that's so fucking awesome way to put it
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE 5 лет назад
It's also nice it highlights an aspect of the Zero Requiem many fans forget about. It was not just about creating a gentler world, it was also very much about redemption for his many sins (Japanese genocide, the death of Euphy and many others, ...) The true genius of his plan was creating a gentler world THROUGH redemption. This redemption was always very important to the show creators, they've always hammered on the fact that he truly died because that was Lelouch's way to pay for his sins. This is what they said during "Geass Memories" where they talked about how they made the anime: - "At least he is aware of his sins and pays for them with his DEATH. This is mine and Taniguchi-director' sense of ethics in our works." - "This man called Lelouch will pay for his sins by his DEATH. The story follows him till he finally make this decision." - "Probably this Lelouch we see in the first episode of the series wouldn't choose DEATH. He would try something to avoid it. He couldn't DIE, for Nunnally as well. But we see him changed in the last episode."
@coupdegrace2767
@coupdegrace2767 3 года назад
Yea, but the idea is that he survived “unintentionally” also remains possible. That’s a very neat decision, which allows for different perspectives on the ending. Heck it practically became a trope.
@elchamakito336
@elchamakito336 3 года назад
The Zero Requiem was not punishment for Suzaku though. The Geass command was. Living on as the traitor hated by everyone or as a man hiding without having the chance to die is a more fitting punishment than to become the symbol that represents what he fighted for. No, the Zero Requiem was Suzaku salvation. Lelouch said it himself. He fought to protect everything he wanted to protect, and Suzaku was his best friend. So subtly, and with a little of deceiving, he granted Suzaku salvation. In reality, the only one punished was Lelouch. But he never cared that much about his own life either.
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE 3 года назад
@@elchamakito336 Those were the words of the creators of the show, they were the ones who said the ZR was a punishment for Suzaku. The ZR meant that Suzaku himself was not allowed to kill himself (which would be possible once Jeremiah canceled the geass on him) but had to live on and be Zero, guarding the peace Lelouch bought with his life. It's one of the may mirrors between Lelouch and Suzaku. Lelouch is punished for his sins with death. Suzaku is punished for his sins with life

Justin Dieterich Aaaand you fell victim to the trolling of the trailer. I know what you're thinking, and no, that's not what happened. Something entirely else happened, but those trailer images without context are making you draw the wrong conclusions. SPOILERS BELOW The movie fully contradicts code theory. Lelouch does NOT have the code! The movie shows us he is DEAD, he's a corpse which needs to be smuggled to France so C.C. can resurrect him (as the title literally said!), and she admits she is only doing that because of her own selfish desires. So Lelouch at the end of R2/Oudou is NOT alive, NOT immortal, NOT the cart driver. He doesn't even get the code in this movie. He gets something else entirely, a new concept which was made just for this movie: the incomplete code. But tdon't let the name fool you, it's not a code at all, even though it does have a mark (as seen in the trailer). This new concept works with entirely different properties, it does not make you immune to geass, it may not even give immortality. So the incomplete code and the code cannot be compared or equated.

There is a theory, that Lelouch is alive and any deniers couldn't bring any heavy argument against it. In short terms. Lelouch obtained Code of immortality from father and after dying activated it. Even the new movies used this move. This theory came for many reasons, but one of them - Lelouch kept his promises. he gave CC a promise to be together and it's not in Lelouch's character to break his word, even if he needs die for it))
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE 5 лет назад
RavenShugo "There is a theory, that Lelouch is alive and any deniers couldn't bring any heavy argument against it." LOL dude, don't lie. Years ago the community fully contradicted code theory in every aspect. COde theory was even denied by the show staff who officially confirmed that Lelouch is truly dead and who explicitly debunked core points from code theory. Even the anime itself makes it impossible for Lelouch to have a code because that would have violated the established rules. Read the Code Geass Community Information database. It's a loooong document full of proof of the code theory being a hoax. I can't put a direct link here or youtube might eat this comment, but I can tell you how to find it. Go to reddit's main page and add in the address /user/GeassedbyLelouch/comments/8hklfr/evaluating_code_theory_main_body_index/ Seriously, don't write such easily debunked lies. The community KNOWS Lelouch is dead and not immortal. That's like saying the earth is flat. People KNOW you're lying edit: here, I'll even add some examples of the show staff explaining that Lelouch is truly dead. - "Before I started writing the story of a person called Lelouch, I confirmed with Taniguchi-director something. That thing was that the end of Lelouch will be DEATH." - "At least he is aware of his sins and pays for them with his DEATH.

RavenShugo I gave you the link. It contains ALL official statements. You think a random fan knows the show better than the people who made it? " All I see are old theoretical farts like your "all visions, that characters saw are not real, it's just for viewer!" that's falling apart." Dude, the show staff explicitly explained in an article that Nunnally realized on her own and that nothing about codes or geasses was involved. That's not "falling apart", that's the show staff confirming that Nunnally didn't see code visions at all. "They already making resurrection with same theory" And the movie SHOWS us that code theory is wrong. How about you go ask the people of the community. Go to reddit and not to a troll's lair like 4chan. There people will explain to you that movie shows that Lelouch at the end of R2 was NOT alive, NOT immortal, NOT the cart driver. He's dead, a corpse. That corpse has to be smuggled halfway across the worlf by Shirley so C.C. could resurrect him. He doesn't even get a code in the movie. What he gets is a new concept which they invented for this movie and which is nothing like a code. It doesn't protect against geass, and it may not even make you immortal(Lelouch says this himself!!) So no, code theory is not used at all. "Lelouch technically DID die. And as a human he IS dead. Nothing in your quotes says about immortal being known as Lelouch Did you even read the official statements? They hammer on the fact that his death was the punishment for his sins. None of thsoe statements work with erroneous interpretations like "fake death" or "dead for 2 minutes". The show staff arz adamaent that he's toally dead. You're just grasping for straws. Nobody says "he died, after after he died he stayed dead", that's just ridiculous. Especially because the anime makes it impossible for him to have a code. EVen in the movie Lelouch literally says that HE DOESN't KNOW IF HE IS IMMORTAL NOW. So if he doesn't know wether he's immortal AFTER his literal resurrection from the dead, he certainly wasn't immortal BEFORE his dead either.

@@IsilionNELE it's funny how you try to use "facts" first from originals, then from redone originals, then from movies. Then you use the words of creators, who made one thing, then remade it, then said one thing, then made totally opposite stuff. So what's canon? If you so adamant to grasp at creators straws, which they change all the time and say, that remade ending is a canon, then the new movies are the new canon with Lelouch alive. So your proofs are in a mess. You use EVERYTHING in your defense, so ALL is canon??? PS. When I said Lelouch technically died, I didn't mean he died for 2 min. or faked death. He DID die, like Charles, but compared to later, the difference between code and geass origins made Lelouch be a dead body much longer. PS2. I base my theory on ORIGINAL series, not revised, or spin-offs. Since even the altered ending can be considered the alternative world by the staff's standard now.
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE 5 лет назад
RavenShugo I'm talking about code theory, and that's about R2. The reason why I also mention the movies is because even though they are AU, the rules are identical. The movies show us that absolutely nothing changed about codes and geasses. Obviously, that doesn't include the new concept of incomplete codes which didn't exist in R2. But even then you can use the movies to learn from the movie. Even with the new incomplete code, Lelouch wasn't sure that he was immortal or not. That shows beyond doubt that in R2 (without incomplete code) he is as dead as dead can be. "Then you use the words of creators, who made one thing, then remade it, then said one thing, then made totally opposite stuff." And yet they NOT ONCE contradicted themselves about the fate of Lelouch. They said Lelouch was truly dead in R2, and we see that this is true. So you're just trying to create a smokescreen of doubt but that won't work. A random fan still does not have the authority to overrule the words of the show staff. "If you so adamant to grasp at creators straws" Lolwut? Official Word of God, the very definition of canon is grasping straws now? You can believe whatever makes you happy, but the canon says Lelouch was dead in R2 and code theory was always wrong. "So your proofs are in a mess. You use EVERYTHING in your defense, so ALL is canon???" Explained at the start of this comment. If that's not clear, well too bad. "When I said Lelouch technically died" Not just technically. He died as a normal mortal without the code. "He DID die, like Charles" Charles NEVER died! Charles already the code and was already immune to geass and immortal BEFORE he shot himself! This too was offiically confirmed by the director and the writer 「これギアス掛かってないのに死んだふりするんだよ」「息子を驚かせようと」「ルルーシュくんかわいそう」「これ一番ショックなタイミング計ってるよね」「絶対笑いこらえてるよ」って色々言われてて笑った。 "He isn't geassed, just pretends he dies!" " He tries to surprise his son!" "Poor Lelouch" "He tries to choose the most shocking timing, doesn't he" "I'm sure he tries hard not to laugh" This also proves that codes don't need activation, because Charles never had a non active code. " the difference between code and geass origins made Lelouch be a dead body much longer" Not supported by thye anime, you're just making stuff up. Also not supported by the show staff since they say the opposite. They hammer on the fact that Lelouch is totally dead because that was fundamental for them. His death was their code of ethics. "I base my theory on ORIGINAL series, not revised, or spin-offs. Since even the altered ending can be considered the alternative world by the staff's standard now." Retcons are canon. The 2009 epilogue where C.C. explicitly and directly tells the audience that Lelouch is dead and she mourns his death is part of the R2 universe and not the movies AU

Someone debunk this: Lelouch has the code AND the geass. Usually, u lose the geass when u get the code BUT, thats only when u recieve the code from the one who gave u the geass. Charles lost his geass when he took V2's code, the one who gave him the geass. C2 lost her geass when she got the Nun's code, the one who gave her the geass. Whos to say that u lose ur geass when u get the code of another code bearer????? And that is why lelouch still had his geass.
@IsilionNELE
@IsilionNELE 5 лет назад
"Someone debunk this" Ok "Lelouch has the code AND the geass" Not according to the anime. The anime itself makes it crystal clear that it is not possible to have a code and a geass at the ame time. Not only do ALL precedents shown in the anime lose their geass as soon as they get th code, charles even explicitly confirms this. The idea that this rule has exceptions or extra conditions is never even hinted at in teh anime. If there truly were extra conditions or exceptions we had to know about to properly understand the end the wriuters would have shown us in some way, but they never did. Without the slighest support in the canon, this idea is simply not canon at all. It's pure fanfic. From the perspective of the canon, this idea is as much true as claiming that the geass user's breakfast is what determines what happens when he gets the code. On top of that, the conclusion of him having the code is that he's immortal and this has been vehemently denied by the show staff over and over again in their numerous official statements where they explain that Lelouch is truly dead. "Usually, u lose the geass when u get the code BUT" No, there is no "but". There is not a single line of dialogue or screenshot in the entire anime which supports a "but". If we had to knew this to understand the story, we would have been told/shown, and that never happened. Therefore this assumption is false. You can't pretend that "they never explicitly denied it" counts as support. The anime also never denied that Arthur is a pokemon instead of a cat. If we had to know Arthur was a pokemone some kind of hint would have been included and there is none. Likeswise with this "but". And let's not forget that they've been confirming Lelouch's total 100% death for 10 years. That completely contradicts the possibility of him having a code. You can't make up rules which are not supported by the anime or the show staff and pretend it's canon. It's not. Not only did the show staff confirm that Lelouch was totally dead, but they even explcitly denied core points of code theory and in 2009 they changed the epilogue, dropping the cart scene becuse some people were misunderstanding it. In the new epilogue C.C. talks directly to the audience and explicitly explains that Lelouch is dead and that she mourns his death. With all that official evidence it is impossible ,to conclude anything else than that Lelouch is a normal mortal who is dead, and not an immortal with the code. If you're interested in reading all the official statements, including links sources and pictures, or want to see the new epilogue from 2009, all of that is included in the COde Geass Community Information Database. I can't put a direct link here or youtube might eat this comment, but I can tell you how to find it. Go to reddit's main page and add in the address /user/GeassedbyLelouch/comments/8hklfr/evaluating_code_theory_main_body_index/

@@IsilionNELE has the manga author actually support the animator's claims? Also, dont use dumb comparisons to pokemon. Yes it was stated that u lose ur geass when u get the code, but its always been the code of the one who gave u the geass. Correct me if im wrong, but geass was still being researched. I may have missed it, but did they say they know everything about geass? Did they create the power? If im wrong then im good with that. The possibilty of keeping ur geass if u get someone else's code was never discussed. Yes, this doesnt mean that its what happened, but its a possibility. Also, at the end, CC was saying how having geass makes u isolated at the end, but then says that she may have been wrong. If lelouch was dead, then why was her statement wrong. Isnt she alone now? Isnt lelouch alone?(in death)

Draven Noxus Code Geass isn't based on a manga, the anime is the original product. There are some manga adaptations of the anime, but they're not canon The origins of the code were not known, but even so the show staff would still need to vreate setup for the payoff in the end. For esxample, they could have had a character wonder about it. But since the anime is totally silent about it, it means it doesn't matter. If it had mattered the show staff would have given ANY kind of hint. The statement of C.C. at the end (which btw was removed in the 2009 epilogue because some people didn't understand, it was replaced by a new epilogue where C.C. explicitly explains to the audience that Lelouch is dead and that she mourns his death) was not about Lelouch being alone, it was about HER not being isolated. Even with Lelouch being dead she now knows that life is worth living and she will always have people who care for her if she doesn't shut herself off like she did before. This was even explained on C.C.'s page of the official Code Geass site back in those days: "Knowing that Lelouch does not hate her for giving him the Geass, she is now able to show her true feelings. With the realization of "Zero Requiem", her time with Lelouch, who was able to forgive and accept her, came to an end, but the memories created with him has, without doubt, saved her from eternal loneliness."

I'm impressed, I've been watching a bunch of people react to this series. No one else I've seen to this point has picked up on everything before it was actually stated like you did. Only thing I was hoping you'd notice and didn't was Jeremiah "Orange" Gottwald working an orange field.

Your desire for Nunally to know the truth is so wholesome as most reactors I've seen don't really think of that until she realises it.

Before anyone infects you with old conspiracy theories, there used to be a theory ("code theory") which claimed Lelouch was immortal, but that conspiracy theory has been conclusive disproven by the community years go. The anime itself made it impossible for Lelouch to have a code because that would have violated established rules (e.g. everyone who gets the code loses the geass, NO exceptions, and Lelouch never lost his geass) But it even has been officially confirmed by the show staff that Lelouch is truly dead. They've been repeating that for 10 years and hammered on the fact of how important that was for them, their code of ethics, etc. They've even explicitly denied core points of the theory. For everyone interested on the full info about this, I recommend reading the CODE GEASS COMMUNITY INFORMATION DATABASE. (if I post a direct link, youtube may eat this comment, so I need to be a little bit cryptic, sorry) Go to reddit's main page and add in the address /user/GeassedbyLelouch/comments/8hklfr/evaluating_code_theory_main_body_index/ This database contains ALL the official statements, all with links, sources and even pictures. There's interviews, articles, live commentaries, the official guide book, the remade epilogue from 2009 (link to the new epilogue can be found in the database), etc It also explains how and where the anime itself contradicts the so called "clues" for code theory. A small example off the official statements, this is from "Geass Memories" where the show staff talked about how they made the show: - "Before I started writing the story of a person called Lelouch, I confirmed with Taniguchi-director something. That thing was that the end of Lelouch will be DEATH." - "At least he is aware of his sins and pays for them with his DEATH.

Lelouche actually survived, in the end C2 is actually talking to Lelouche who is the guy with the hat on the wagon. The reason he survived was that he became immortal from Charles's code.

You let yourself be fooled by a well known fake video. That video of "Lelouch" as the cart driver is a fan made edit. Leloouch does NOT have a code, the anime makes that impossible because everyone who gets the code loses the egass and Lelouch never lost his geass. On top of that the show staff have offiially confirmed that Lelouch is truly dead. Code theory was nothing more than a hoax, the community has conclusively proven that years ago

Kallen figured it out during the assassination, Kaguya is heavily implied to have figured it out, Tohdoh suspected Suzaku was Zero so he could've figured it out. Lloyd, Nina, Cecile, Sayoko, and Jeremiah were all in on it from the beginning.

The "sequal" is only canon to the movie version of Code geass. The movies are almost identical but with minor differences. If you want more of Code Geass you should watch Lelouch of the Resurrection movie. It's purely fan service and doesn't ruin the actual ending of the anime cause they're not canon. It's also very well done fan service.

I love this anime, but I will admit as I've grown up I've liked the end less and less. Lelouch tried to commit suicide when he trapped Charles, and the next thing he does is make a plan to die, and his friends encourage him. It just feels wrong to me, especially after a bunch of times Lelouch and Euphemia tried to stop Suzaku from exactly that.
