C.C. was shocked because she realized V.V. was dying for real. She was expecting him to just heal like usual. Because Charles stole his code specifically when he was badly wounded in battle, V.V. died then and there, implying that taking the code-bearer's immortality doesn't kill them immediately but renders them mortal. Charles was very deliberate in waiting until that moment to take V.V.'s code.
V2 is Charles actual brother and he never said he wanted to die, only C2 wants to die. C2 was shocked when she saw V2 because Charles killed V2 which is out of character for him.
So a lot was explained here, below only explains what you guys know so far: C.C. was given a Geass for everyone to love her (her true wish). The nun gave C.C. her power, the nun has a Code, a code user is immortal and doesnt age and cant use Geass themseleves, but can bestow Geass to others. This explains why C.C. gave Geass to Mao and Lelouch. Eventually when the Geass user becomes powerful enough they can kill the Code user, and gain their power. Essentially Charles stole V.V.s code so hes now immortal like you guys said. The reason C.C. doesnt explain her wish is because it implies that Lelouch could become immortal which is more of a burden and likely turns people off from accepting the contract. Hope this clears up some confusion, cuz i had to watch the show a couple of times to understand it.
To add. CCs real wish is to be loved. She doesn't want to tell her contractor that because it wouldn't be true love, Lelouch has to get there naturally to fulfill that contract. Mao wasn't in love with her, he was excessively dependent on her because his Geass became a curse. Lelouch mentions that Geass is like a wish, and in this episode he mentioned that he understood what she really wanted. Lelouch wanted control, so he got the power to control. Charles wanted the power to change the minds of others, so he literally can manipulate their memories. CC wanted to be loved, so her Geass was to force people to love her.
Not a spoiler, as far as I remember. Geass Code bearers(with red geass sign tattoo) are immortal and can grant geass to other people. When the Geass bearer has fully developed Geass(in both eyes), they can "steal" the Geass Code from Geass Code bearers, and become immortal, but they lose their Geass ability.
@@Herry2001 the movie isn't canon, and it explained in a very strange way. Either way, Lelouch across the main canon and movie canon, never got a code.
The point thay may be confusing you is that C.C. is not necessarily being honest with herself. Its easy to get hung up on the point of Geass givers giving Geass is to die thing, but this isn't necessarily always the case. It's colored by C.C.'s lived experience as that is what her Geass giver wanted and the immortality was forced on her. This isnt always the case though. V V. For instance has ambitions he shared with Charles and had no plans on dying. And with how the episode ended, with C.C. rejecting death after Lelouch purports to know her true wish (we can conclude its still to be loved), in her case its likely not what she really wants either
You guys mentioned that "Lloyd is gay", but I don't think that's quite the case, it's probably just closer that he's asexual and to certain degrees he has difficulty understanding human relationships (based on his conversations during the first season).
Indeed. He isn't interested in anyone. He just has a focus on his work. Everything is a distraction. Either this is choice or just base nature as he never felt anything. But yes, I would say Asexual there is just nothing in it for Lloyd.
I think it's important to remember all the clips from season 1. imagine being burned alive because ppl thought you were a witch or being caught in a battlefield getting blown up. At some point, death is the only mercy. Lelouch was able to talk her out of it at the last moment because he mentioned he knew what her TRUE wish was, which was related to her first geass

The Code holder wouldn't want to tell Geass user their true wish because it's so rare that a user is able to fully mature their Geass to the point where they can take on the Code. They don't want to risk the user changing mind or have situations like Mao where they would never take the willingly because of other motives (like being madly in love with CC). That's why they keep their wish hidden until it's time to strike to minimize the chance of something going awry.
@18:33 I think the interesting thing about immortality stories is that none of us can ever actually know what it would be like. It has that enigmatic allure and repulsion, akin to the Lovecraftian eldritch, and it is a common dialectic to have fear of the "other", the "unknown". This plus the fact that most people's late, late life is doomed to be riddled with loss of physical capacity likely contributes to the more pessimistic outlook on immortality. I think I'm a bit on your side, a bit of an immortality optimist, because simply looking at history there is a sort of acceleration of civilization that would be fascinating to be an eternal part and observer of. Of course in the long-long term you might outlive civilization and thus be doomed to recreate it or suffer in void I suppose, but I also am a bit of an Armageddon optimist, SOMETHING will survive, human or otherwise, and that would be enough to keep the attention and interest of any aspiring immortal in my opinion. But yes, loneliness seems the worst curse in immortality, which I think Code Geass does a great job of broaching the idea that you can be lonely while surrounded by people, even those that love you.
That pizza is called cheesy bites and have been in pizza hut for so many years, i was a teenager working in pizza hut when cheesy bites was 1st release. Crazy how C2's Geass pretty much sealed her fate in never experiencing love organically. Also, broccoli broccoli on pizza is amazing, have it with bacon and a lil bit of garlic and olive oil on top
The "code" they mentioned is the immortality and ability to give geass to others. The code is usurped by a geass user after they've matured in their power to a point and then kill a code bearer. The reason C.C. didn't tell Lelouch why her dream was to die is two-fold; she saw that deliberately killing someone he cares about would be too much of a burden for him, AND even more important, her true wish wasn't to die. She wants to be loved for who she is and had just given up on that ever being a reality.

Remember C.C.'s season 1 flashbacks? Immortality seems fun until you've died in innumerable horrific ways and never found respite. Imagine being chopped into pieces, encased in concrete and then dropped into the ocean all while being unable to die.

Well Charles was just being a nice guy to C.C. that's why he thought taking her immortality was a favor. (But this isn't really C.C.'s true wish) I'm not sure if taking the Code from another bearer doubles the immortality, it wasn't explained.
The thing about code geass is that it doesn't exactly explain where did geass come from? Is it from those people who are from a sort of tribe we see when lelouch got his geass?
I wish they would stop with the spin offs and actually give us deep lore on the codes and codebearers. Believe it or not there is no explanation to their origin whatsoever in any of the official media.
Why eternity life isn't cool is literally main theme for so many shows. Even powerful beings like Frieren, Alucard etc. just lose any interest of being alive like watching endless boring movie. Here for CC is even worse. You have no advantage in society, ppl expel you like witches, or make a subject for experimentals. Horrible fate where no place to coolness, who's gonna appreciate it?
