Can verify that with the valet key in the ignition on #2 and a brand new cut master key fob from the dealer, this worked on a 2004 Golf TDI exactly as it did in the video. Thanks for saving me the $190 the dealer quoted me to program it!
This is great! I just swapped the factory chips & key into new blank fobs without the broken keychain ring - put in new batteries - went outside in the rain and holding the umbrella with my chin I managed to get both fobs reprogrammed with your instructions. On this vehicle - an '01I had not been using remote unlock for several years! (Because I though I had broke the circuit board with an eyehook screw I used in place of the Keychain attachment, but I was wrong it was just a dead battery.) Thank you!
Hi! Trying to do this on my 2015 Volkswagen EOS. My car is pushed start and the fob that I have the key is not cut. I am trying to trick it into thinking that the old key is the new key when I put it into the door. Would appreciate any input.
A question for you: my drivers side keyhole has been replaced and uses a different key than the ignition. How would I program a key that works in the ignition, as that key would not be able to unlock the door?
Maybe I’m not understanding the question but if you want to have the same key for your ignition and door, you’ll have to get a new lock. Probably cheaper to change the door then change the ignition. If you change the ignition, you will have to program the immobilizer to work with the new key. This video is just about the key fob programming not immobilizer programming. If you are just trying to program a key fob, you will have to use your ignition key in the ignition and the door key in the door and then follow the directions for programming the fob. On many VWs, the fob pops off the key. That might make it easier
I did it a few times. It does reprogram the key fob that I have in the door lock, but when I’m done, the key that was in the ignition no longer works!? If I reverse the keys, and do it again.. the same thing. The buttons of the one that was in the door lock work, but the buttons of the one that was in the ignition no longer do. So I can only ever have one that works. What am I doing wrong?

would you or anyone else in the comments know how to do this with only one key? I tried the method in the user manual (pop lock cap off, press unlock, [(within 1 min) manually unlock the door, close door behind you, stick the key in the ignition, and turn to AUX mode, turn off, get out and close the door] NOGO. Am I missing something? Does anyone know what protocol VW uses to COMM with the key fob (SECURITY+, SECURITY+ 2.0, etc? Full disclosure I tried hacking my VW by capturing the unlock signal and replaying it on my flipper0.
Take the key cylinder out by popping the rubber plug in the jam side of door and loosening the torx screw but not all the way slide out and use a long screw driver to turn the lock while top portion of key is In ignition
Ah, then there is a communication issue. May be a wiring issue or possibly could be one of the modules. That would explain why the reprogramming doesn't work
Some places can cut one by the VIN. Id recommend you call a couple places and see. The dealer can do it for you but it is a little pricey. A place like tunemyeuro.com may be able to you just have to shop around a little
