This is a 10 Minute Coherent Breathing Timer designed to help you breathe slowly, with a visual breathing bubble, and bell sounds. The breathing rate is set at 5 breaths per minute (5 BPM). Breathe in for 6 seconds, and then breathe out for 6 seconds. Breathe softly and quietly through your nose, focusing on the subtle movements of expansion and deflation around your diaphragm. Paying particular attention to the lateral movement of your lower ribs.

As I breathe in I visualise & silently say the word Calm & as I breathe out I visualise & silently say the word Heal. I find that keeps my mind from wandering & keeps me in the moment plus they’re good words for me to “hear”!

Amazing! Thank you for sharing with everyone 🙏 Yes, these mantras give the mind something to keep it occupied and bring warmth and positivity to the practice. Sometimes on the out-breath I use self compassion phrases like "may I be safe", "may i be kind to myself. " I say them really slowly and gently with a smile. Wishing you all the best.

so should this be the default breath when we aren't doing buteyko exercises?
@thebuteykomethod
@thebuteykomethod 4 дня назад
Just to clarify, the coherent breathing exercise isn't Buteyko. But regarding the Buteyko exercises, when you practice them regularly over time, your default breathing will become slower and lighter, but this is a very gradual process. When you are not doing the breathing exercises, just allow your body to breathe naturally. Hope that helps 🙏🏻

I can’t really offer any specific health advice - but I would say to listen to your body. Feelings of calm, mental clarity, warmth and increased saliva in the mouth are positive signs that you have the technique right. You should have a mild air hunger but not feel stress or tension in the body. If you have an specific health issues, I would recommend working directly with a Buteyko practitioner (myself or someone local to you). Hope that helps 🙏🏽
@ThisIsNotMyHome

@@muhammadjibranali7730 I do know that while you are doing this regulated breathing, it's an exercise.. so anytime you're doing something physical, even with this light breathwork, it will decrease your oxygen saturation during.. but just temporarily. You should quickly recover. I would find your starting number and then don't take a reading until about a minute after you're finished with the exercise. Maybe also take your waking up level, before getting out of bed, to see your average levels. And see if after doing this exercise daily, after several days, if your morning wake up levels have gotten any better.

@@thebuteykomethod thank you sometimes it’s hard for me to tell The difference if it’s air hunger or short of breath I think it’s air hunger cause when I’m able to get that deep breath I don’t feel that feeling anymore
@thebuteykomethod
@thebuteykomethod 3 месяца назад
@@callmesupreme1533 When we have air hunger, we feel like we want to take deeper breaths, but actually this just feeds the air hunger in the long term. It's better to learn to take softer, quieter, more gentle breaths as this will retrain the body so we won't get the air hunger any more. Over time this will also help to improve diaphragm function, which can help to reduce symptoms of acid reflux by supporting the function of the LES valve at the top of the stomach.

While I was doing this coherent breathing practice I felt a mixture of calm, peace, and dizziness simultaneously is a common thing to happen when someone is doing this breath work?
@thebuteykomethod
@thebuteykomethod 3 месяца назад
The dizziness is caused by over-breathing, which you really want to avoid. You are effectively hyperventilating, which reduces blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain and causes long term breathing problems. Maybe your breaths smaller, silent and gentle, ideally feeling a mild shortage of air/air hunger during the exercise. If it still makes you feel dizzy, then discontinue or find a breathing coach such as myself to help you. I made a video about how to do slow breathing safely here (the second guided exercise in particular): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MkscOWI8aNc.html
