Hi, I'm Neil, and I'm a Buteyko Breathing, mindfulness and deep relaxation teacher. I offer Buteyko Breathing courses and one-to-ones on Zoom.
I specialise in helping clients to heal from anxiety, brain fog, burnout and chronic illnesses such as Asthma, CFS/ME and Long COVID. I also offer mindfulness and breathing workshops for corporate clients. If you are interested in working with me, you can contact me via my website: www.thebuteykomethod.com.
i can really feel clarity in just 1 session- its been so long with the brain fog and i have recently got issues with short term memory bcs of low clarity but it felt like 60% lightness in mind and some clarity after this - and its so simple to do
Anyone else find the bell sounds jarring? I find I can’t relax properly because each bell sound knocks me out of my zone. The volume of the bell is too loud compared to the voice.
Hello everyone, I am so glad to write this article today to tell the world how Dr Emovon on RU-vid cured my (bad breath and acid reflux problem complete) #dremovon.😊
I have been dealing with brain fog for a for a few months and it is driving me crazy. I did your excersise once and it was like magic I had a 100% clear head for 3 days. But it hasn't been working after that one time and it doesnt clear my head anymore even a bit. Can you help me out?
Hi @niktatokazzabani, that interesting that it initially worked. It helps in 2 ways, both by down-regulating the nervous system, and also elevating co2 levels in the body to increase blood flow and oxygen delivery. I wonder if any of the other videos in the channel help, as that might give us a clue? You are also welcome to book a free 30 min chat with me via the website: buteykomethod.com
Hey @8KFlow, absolutely. Brain fog is a symptom, with many different causes. I did make this video with lots of ideas to reduce brain fog, which might help or at least give you a clue as to what works and what doesn't: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0k8mlhADm8.htmlsi=oBKBWALg0KngmkwH. All the best 🙏🏻
Wonderful! If your body is responding well to it, then you could do it 2-3 times per day, so morning and night sounds perfect. Best done on an emptier stomach.
Thanks. I felt much better after doing this meditation 🙏 With all this pranayam and deep breathing exercises I was going crazy when I was unable to practice them. Could you help me with my tense neck. I feel lot of stiffness in the side and the back of the neck. I am unable to release the tension there. Thank you. 💕
I'm really glad it helped. Re the neck tension, you could try this muscle relaxation: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BALTOxc0xJY.html.
Hi @kriskerpuchki1311, it depends a little on what you want to get out of it. Doing this type of practice 20 min per day can really help to calm the nervous system and improve HRV. If you wanted to improve your control pause/breathing health, then really I'd aim for an hour of Buteyko a day, starting with the small breath holds and then focusing on the breathe light exercise. I can be helpful to work with a breathing coach if you are going to spend a lot of time on it. You are welcome to book a free 30-min consultation here: www.thebuteykomethod.com/ Hope that helps 🙏🏻
Yes, absolutely. I've worked with a number of clients with COPD, and Buteyko can really help (part of COPD is structural, but Buteyko can help with the inflammation side of things.). Just go gently and mention to your doctor that you are doing it. A bit of research here: www.researchgate.net/publication/339123745_The_Study_to_Compare_the_Effect_of_Buteyko_Breathing_Technique_and_Pursed_Lip_Breathing_in_COPD
@@thebuteykomethod that’s good news I needed because I love buteyko it helps me feel calmer. Thank you for the link. I will share with my doctor who is very supportive and impressed I try to help myself this way. I appreciate you responding Neil. 🙏
Hey @jinkazama2555, it's not for everyone. I made another video here about 10 ways to reduce brain fog in case that is helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0k8mlhADm8.htmlsi=oBKBWALg0KngmkwH. All the best. Neil.
Hello This method is great! I’m sure it’s different for everyone, but how after doing the exercise are you supposed to feel better? Minutes or hours or the whole day? Also how many times a day do you recommend doing this? Thank you very much
Hey Zachary, I'm glad you are enjoying it. The benefits usually come on within a few minutes and then can last minutes to hours depending on your breathing health. You can do this one very regularly, e.g. up to 10 mins at a time or 5 mins every hour. Hope that helps 🙏🏻
I have been doing this exercise for a while now, im finding that my asthma symptoms have improved greatly, and i feel overall better thank you for helping helping us to be healthier ❤
Do I need to hold my nose or will closing my nasopharnyx work just as well? I hate having to hide in public when I need to adjust my shallow breathing and this is a huge help.
Great question Penelope. Holding the nose just ensures that you are definitely holding your breath. Also, some people find it comforting. But it's not a necessity 🙏
It depends on your currently breathing health. It's important to breathe gently and quietly with a gentle shortage of air. You might need to experiment a little to find what works for you, and this may vary depending on the day/time of day. Maybe listen through again as there are lots of tips and suggestions in the recording 🙏🏻
Time intervals between breaths are already almost 5 seconds; so what’s the point of this exercise?!?! Shouldn’t we stop breathing much longer than just 5 seconds?!
Hi, you can hold the breath for up to half of the length of your control pause (control pause is explained here: www.thebuteykomethod.com/buteyko-breathing/the-control-pause-a-complete-guide). Hope that helps 🙏🏻
Your delivery of this info is the best I’ve ever come across, and am now using with any viral-triggered asthma issues. It works well both instead of, and when necessary, in between relief inhaler uses. Thank you so much ❤
I have developed a strange breathing issue in which there were some hand moments and strange sound from mouth, when I was an addict. Now though I don't watch porn nor masturbate, my breathing is not back to normal, moreover it has worsened my nervous system. Whenever I try to focus on something suddenly I stop breathing, this causes chills, a pounding heart and eventually leads to involuntary ejaculation. I feel very helpless, I can't express how grateful I would be to the one who brings a solution for my problem. Please help me out.
. y would u add 10sec w/o timer at th end.+3sec useless lag at th start. if wantd to loop ur vry usfl vid ovr n ovr th balance would b lost. was close ^
Hi this seems to be similar to coherent breathing as we focus on the number of counts when breathing in and breathing out? Except that Buteyko emphasises on breathing out very gently n slowly? Both methods will improve ourHRV? Thank you
Hey Mike, yes so same benefits as coherent re HRV, but the big difference here is also breathing less air (the air hunger bit) overall to elevate Co2 levels within the blood for increased oxygen delivery, improved vagal tone, plus it also resets your body for slower, more functional breathing 24/7. Hope that helps 🙏🏻
Hi Mohammed, there has been quite a lot of research to show that buteyko breathing can really help with asthma. See you can get hold of the book "close your mouth" by Patrick McKeown to learn more about it.
This really helps to calm my overactive nervous system! I've tried lots of breathing techniques over the years but this one has been the most effective for me. I'm so grateful to you for producing these videos. I do this one every morning and it has genuinely been life changing for me. I would highly recommend this for anyone with ME/long covid or indeed any chronic illness. A video with just the bells would also be very much appreciated 😊 thank you!
I noticed instant relief. Thank you so much. I'll keep doing it 2x/day for the next month. This brain fog was causing me so much anxiety, leading to depression. I really hope this will be the fix. I really appreciate you.
