Btw the worst part of the game right now is that earlier servers are full and rejecting new players. This means friends cannot join you on those servers if you are already playing on them.
Even worse than this, is you're on that server that your friends can't join, and you bought the battlepass. If you then switch to a new server to play with your friends, you DO NOT have access to the battlepass that you paid for. You will have to buy it again. Scummy tactic from the devs.
I’m glad The Division 2 listened to its player base and removed seasonal characters. In a persistent online game you should be able to progress on the same character over time.
Well you do in Once Human if you're trying to say you don't lol. The division 2 didn't have resources to add new content/guns ect each season vs NetEase. It's the densed brain players that can't see any sense of the benefit of a wipe (which isn't even a full wipe).
This season system sounds great, but for what type of player? Hardcore players that have time to be on 8 hours a day might find the 6 week schedule too slow, but casual players on less than 1 hour a day or maybe less than 1 hour a week might find the seasons hectic. Would be hard to balance for unless you have servers specified with different season timers. Obviously 6 week season schedule most likely is based on the developer’s availability to complete a new season.
It shouldn't be designed for someone who plays 8 hours a day, but also not for someone who plays an hour a week. Both of these are extremes and it's okay if the game doesn't satisfy their needs. If you get bored, play something else till reset. if you don't get to do everything you wanted, that's also fine. Just don't buy into the fomo. There is a middle ground to be found and I'm sure that will take some seasons but the Devs have been very receptive of feedback. And if not... Well, you had some good fun in a free to play game for some time and move on.
I tried this game this weekend, and although it seems pretty fun, I don’t like feeling like I have a time limit/deadline to play a game as much as I can. Adult life has enough deadlines.
The biggest thing i can recommend is forget about the season deadline completely. Nobody (aside from Dev's) knows how impactful it will actually end up being, so enjoy playing the game and if the season finish ends up being bad, move onto a different game having enjoyed playing this one for a month or two. I've played a lot of offline single player games that i enjoyed for less time than i'll spend in OH.
Well damn. I can't play enough to keep up. I need an offline mode or something equivalent. The first wipe will probably make my mind up to just getting back to an old game.

@ktpp123 lil man quit yappin like you are relevant. I have 10k hrs on Ark, 4k on Rust,3k on DayZ , 2k on Tarkov. I know what PVP is 🤦 This game is an MMO, questing, loot running, currency grind. It is legit new world with a basic base building function and PvP as a 2nd.

They've added that island but even that's a joke you can upload gear to a island but still gonna wipe levels so if you store your level 5 gear on the island you'll have to wait for level 40 again to use it seems stupid to me I'm kinda done at the moment I don't think I'll be playing again

Yeah I checked out the game during Next Fest and enjoyed what I played. Was talking to my friends about it and we were hoping this game would be like Conan Exiles or Valheim or Palworld and so on where the world is persistent. I knew nothing about the game going in; didn't even know it was free to play either. Figured it was free at the time because Next Fest. But then while I was checking out the forums for information on having a private, friends only server I realized what this game actually was about and I instantly deflated. The whole "seasonal" thing made it even worse for my friends and I. That all said, I'm not rooting for this game's downfall or anything like that - it's just not what I thought it was going to be. I hope it does well, but sadly it's just not my and my friend group's cup of tea. We're into open world survival games, but we want it persistent as well.
This game does things no other game has EVER done, and it's amazing. It also needs a ton of bug fixing and tweaks. I can't stop playing. We just made a huge discord for our world to coordinate EVERYTHING, and it's become a massive family of players who all love the game and being part of a community. We have pushed this game to its limit, and it is IMPRESSIVE.
Devs have just confirmed that Phase 6 will last 4 weeks. You will still be able to grind all regular content during that time (bar phase-specific events, like "Close Encounter: Manibus). You can use the full 4 weeks, or cut it short at any time by choosing to sign up for a new season.
Your base doesn't disappear forever. You can make blueprints of it. It literally is a carbon copy of your base. You just need to update with a new blueprint if you change your base. Basically it's a save. When you make news changes, you save it. Otherwise you lose whatever you had if you didn't save.
I dont think the dev's are changing it "almost daily". I haven't seen any adjustments to it since their initial post about how it worked. How players interpret how it works *IS* changing by the hour though, as people debate the ambiguous areas i.e. if quest progression carries over, do we still get the quest rewards? who knows. There hasn't been a season change yet, nobody (outside Dev's) know how impactful the lost content is and there's a tonne of conjecture about it. So far (lvl 35) leveling up is super fast, gathering materials to craft gear with is easy, the only grindy bit so far is searching locations for chests to get area completions/blueprints (which you keep). Given quest progression is saved, it makes sense the map exploration is also saved (but not confirmed). It really depends on what they mean by main/side quest completion as there could have been some lost in translation. Maybe all the map cleared areas get saved? again, who knows.
@ktpp123 You need to google the term "literally" brother. It's NOT the same. "My character" in a game like this is way more than just your ingame XP. Its blueprints, base building, quest progress, etc. And those 3 things carry over from season to season, so you don't lose "this side" of your character. So no, it's not "literally the same", not even remotely close
thats exactly what its ment for. you are supposed to be able to copy your build and if you dont have concrete as an example it will take the next best and if you only have wood it will build it with wood.

Reminder, you can save your base a blue print and rebuild it instantly. Im going to start saving my base progression. Its very nice of this game to let you move your base instantly anywhere you want.
I don't think people are playing the game or reading in game information. My experience is more like "brakes" on progress to allow for balance community experience. Everyone is about equal in experience and I like that. What is what resets is not that big deal when compared to other games. FO76 weapons are capped and we killed the scorched beast over and over due to no new content, but at least I did not have to rebuild my house. My FO 76 house has been in the same spot for years looking the same since I can only have so many items and I had no will to grind coins for a rug. ESO every year I do the same Ghost romance story after paying. I am looking forward to seeing where this game goes.
They have things to work on and have been moving fast tbh. But I love this game! I do like the idea of how the chapter/season things will mean an always evolving world. But yeah for people coming in late.. not good. Also the world gets harder as it progresses in season, so they will be in even more trouble lol. Its not really restarting,as things will be different. But at the same time it also is.. and people who already have higher end BPs for example, they will have a huge advantage..
Considering how fast character progression is? I don't mind losing all my levels and whatnot. The wipes of the general playspace are required though as if player buildings weren't removed every inch of buildable space would end up being full. I don't think the seasons are a problem. I kinda do something similar with other Sandbox games anyway. When they get a big patch I either start a new character or I do a sorta NG+ thing where I use the last character I had, but I don't bring gear with me. We'll see what happens at the end of the current season but I don't think it'll be as bad as everyone thinks. I want to know how much the map will change between seasons. That will be what holds my interest over the long term.
@ktpp123 that last part isn't true at all... next season is already planning on adding an ice biome that wasn't in this season... so saying the map wont change is a lie.
Uh? I don't think you understand how these work. Everyone on any given server have the same phases opened. So no, others can't continue progressing / continue the story "while you wait 2 days"
It’s not that complicated. You can just play the story, hit all the poi’s, and farm very little to accomplish everything in the game. Every build will complete the game. You don’t need to get them all and max them all in one season. The AI is dumb which allows every build to work at its base form. Don’t even need legendary mods. It’s a chill game. Treat it as one.
It's not really doing anything unique it brings players who are done back. Palworld, ARK, Rust, POE, Diablo etc. All the big names do it. Have you looked at Eternaland? It is a permanent realm within the game where you can keep all of your accomplishments, currencies(not season), and unlocks with each season. Even games that have a prestige system like Diablo still do season wipes. Also with Once Human you keep your currencies, you keep your blueprints and all fragments, weapon accessories and mods, furniture recipes, cosmetics, emotes, namecards, any house blueprints you make, all story progress. You get a limited number of resources, meds, ammo. You are basically just going back to lv 1 and get to try to build somewhere where you couldn't before because someone else was there, the map resets and will drop the people who built their houses and then never played again. These are necessary things for the future of the game. I hope they don't change it, maybe make it longer for people who have less time but if they don't do resets the game will die.
Imagine exploring A, B, then C. But everything got wiped and you gotta go back to A, B, and C again on repeat every 6 weeks. You'd be seeing the same stuff over and over and over again just with a lil smth new like A* or A+ or A- same thing with B and C. Hell naw I ain't stayin. I thought I finally found a true perfect f2p survival game but I was absolutely wrong.
When a new phase unlocks, the previous phases don't just disappear. ie.: Phase / Week 1 : You have access to A, B, C and D Phase / Week 2 : You have access to A, B, C, D, E, F and G Phase / Week 3 : A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J etc There's no FOMO involved in phases
That's not how it works. It just means more content unlocks. This staggers out content over the 6 weeks. It's sort of anti fomo. Unless you are playing only like 1 hour per day or something.
Every time i played the game I always felt like i was lost, didn't know what to do where to go or what am i doing in this zone, i built a house, then learned about the wipes, nothing against of course that's what they decided but i felt what the point then i don't want to do everything all over again for me it gets boring repeating everything, it's a bit like when try to start a skyrim run, but get to Whiterun and get bored because I burned myself playing it, or fallout 4 from always restarting it. I was looking forward for the game because is was weird like "Control" and "Alan wake" but the wipe and me going around looting boxes, getting blueprints and looking at the map (the hell am i suppose to do) kinda broke my enthusiasm. Nothing against the game, no hate for it on my part.
the reset is particularly for the very reason you just described... after playing on the same server with the same base and same enemies things will get stale... so they force everyone to start over... however they already said they are planning a permanent server option for people who dont like this. and blueprints are kept btw... so if you play the game now and get a bunch of blueprints you keep those as well as their level if you level the blueprints up.. id say the worst part in all of this.. each season will be harder than the previous one... this season was marked as "easy" giving people time to build up and learn the game and all that... but what about people who are new once were in season 2 and the enemies get harder with new content unlocked?
So basically its a repeated hunt for new blueprints and better archivements. LVLing and items doesn't really matter. So if you think like this, it wouldn't really bother you much
I am fascinated to see what they do with the rest of the map - it's massive. Also, what they are going to do with the story. Will it restart and we have to do it all over? (Surely not) Will it pick up from where each season ends? If so, how do new players jump in? Will be interesting to see what they do.
story progress will be saved... you will not have to replay story bits you already did... you can also bring blueprints(including house blueprints) with you.
I was very interested in this game, even had it wishlisted but when I heard about seasons I completely lost interest. I have always hated seasonal systems that don't allow you to keep everything at the end (like how PoE does it, you just get sent to Standard/Hardcore).
Best thing to do at this moment in time is to treat it like a Rust server. I understand this is a huge turn off because most of the user base is mmo players, not Rust enthusiasts. However this is the system the Devs are going for. There is a really good chance the devs are missing their target audience, or maybe the majority of the players on this game right now in the US/EU are not what they would consider their target audience. Do keep in mind they literally have limited playing time overseas due to their laws, they may be developing it this way on purpose to low key punish players that spend WAYY too much time grinding the game.
I really like to take my time in games. I spent most of my first day just exploring and ignoring the main quest line. The idea of a time limit is a massive turn off. I'm still going to continue playing but im worried my interest in the game will be gone after the first wipe. :/
no this is a full release unfinished game hiding behind the shield of live service. Basically in the current gaming industry %99 of the live service games release as unfinished as EA game with the promise of rest of the game coming in seasons

I'd imagine the fall off after the first season, will give the devs the idea that they'll need to have longer running servers. Keep the 6 weeks for the hardcore, 6 month/year for the casuals. Then again the fast seasons does give you more ways to earn starchrom, without doing the base defense?
The ideal would be what Dayz community servers do, they wipe every 3 or 4 months and it's perfect, but each season needs to have something good like new stuff, new enemies, new areas or story, new weapons, skins, otherwise is a waste of time repeating all the grind again for the same stuff.
I was excited for this game until I saw the season mechanic. Such a shame, it's a fun game otherwise. Fine to have seasonal servers, but they needed a perma server too like arpgs do.
Love the game but hate BPs being locked behind starchrom, would be better having to run the content to have chance of BPs dropping instead of stuff I dont own.
Make a non-season server similar to PVP and on a schedule add in seasonal content. Players can also make a character just for seasonal content and play on a seasonal servers without losing their main playthrough and saved up content. I hope they decide on something, I'd hate to walk away but I will, not a fan of FOMO gaming.
They would have so much more successful ditching the live service, not everything has to be live service... Do a battlepass and seasonal content, add an offline or single player / co-op mode and call it a day. But ofc like the typical industry greed everything has to be live services 😂
This season thing shouldnt be force upon. Its a very bad system. Of they really want to have this system it should be seperate to the hardcore gamers and for the rest of us leave us alone. Most players playing are casuals. I really do hope they dont do what they said.
Doing all this is great the first time, maybe twice, but not every 6 weeks. Once Human will die after first season... such a shame as its a fun game otherwise.
I don't like playing the game despite how much fun and hours I have already put into it now. Otherwise, I'll just make it into some fishing simulator with the quest of finding the biggest fish.
They communication from the studio is weird, i hear so much contradicting stuff and every community manager or person on their disc says different things. Some clarity would really help.
By "stuff gets removed," does that mean, like..."story content"...or "earned rewards"...or "skill progression"...all of those? I ask because, one of the big reasons I ditched playing Destiny is how they charge $100 for an expansion and a year of seasonal content...they removed FOUR campaigns (they said they're not doing that anymore, but like...lol...grain of salt), and once the year you've purchased is over, the seasons you've purchased ALSO vanish. 24 seasons of story content, all gone so far. They're now doing "episodes," whatever that means (seems like just one less "season" with a couple more cutscenes sprinkled in, not much different), but without that seasonal story content to bridge the gap between major expansions, many of the remaining story milestones, ESPECIALLY Final Shape...lose a ton of punch and context because the story beats that happened DURING the story are now gone (or just in the "Timeline" but it's nowhere near as punchy to read it as experience those stories unfolding). Live services need as MUCH permanent content as possible, so that if players aren't interested at the moment, or are waiting for something meatier to sink their teeth into before jumping in, they can without worrying about FOMO or some temporary window when the best stuff is only available for. With this game, I'd be less concerned about, like...loot collected being lost...as I'd be about, say...long term skill unlocks or buildings I've built being wiped, things like that that I'd likely take with me into the next "season" or "cycle." If any of that makes sense.

I understand that live services get really large, and MTX are a big pain point and topic of discussion, but paying for actual GAME content that gets inevitably removed should be a legal offense. Companies get away with it because they tell players the deal, but...yeah, it's awful.
as it is ment now your basic resources and level+memetics/overrides will be reset. you will keep all the blueprints and accessories you have earned. quest progress is supposed to be reset but simplified somehow if you have already completed them. you can blueprint your buildings and it will also carry over. if you put it down early it will be built with the tier you have so if you only have wood it will build it with wood instead of stone.
I quit because of the seasons. Any game with seasons is not for me. Will not waste my time. Seasons are for people that get addicted easily and play over and over again. Malicious.
A great game and I am havin a lot of fun but season system is crap. I dont like to los anything of my progress or mats. I dont have the ambitions and time to start from 50%. We will have to wait till they come to the conclusion that they lose most of the players
@@ryanglacier30 You do not keep most of what you listed lol. I think you read the official statement wrong. What you keep is blueprints (not weapons, armor pieces themselves), no mats, and only a very small amount of currency (you don't keep most of it)
@@AwesomeNuke actually you get a limited selection of things you can bring with you... when the season ends the things you own will get transferred to eternaland... after that happens before the next season starts you will be given points to spend to bring items from previous seasons with you into the next season...so you dont lose everything.. you can choose to bring things with you from the last season on a point based system with more valuable things costing more points.

Does anyone know how to access the season goals screen? I know you get a pop up to press Y when you complete a goal but have no idea how to get to it normally. It's not in the same section as tasks & journey and it's not in the same screen as the Battlepass stuff either.
Seasons and no controller support are what turned me off of the game. TFD, D2 and Wayfinders echoes are games I just can’t stop playing for a game like this, not to mention flintlock drops tomorrow.
I do wonder what will they do with a new server. As the current is called Novice server. And you can feel how easy it is. Unless you select hard, all the content can be done by brain dead individuals. Will have to see soon, but so far the game worth my time.
WTF? Seasonal wipes are in this game? I just freekin' started playing 5 days ago and i'm just now hearing this. Had i known they were going to do this before i started playing the game, i never would have started playing period. Going to uninstall at this point, i don't wanna keep having fun only for another stupid idea from game devs who wanna trash everything because of seasons. It's why i quit playing D4, SEASONS SUCK.
@@circaen And it's just the AI. They're so braindead. The enemies themselves are cool but if they like actually did something it would definitely feel a lot better. Not all the enemies are like that but a majority are. And then people say, well as phases go on they release harder content. Not a fan of that personally. The game is not respecting my time in that regard. That means if I finish the phases too quick I have to wait for the next phase, or if I don't finish a phase I feel like I'm behind. But I guess that's like the MMO aspect of the game in terms of daily logins and what not. Game is good for a free game, but in between the enemy difficulty, the thousands of in game menus and the phases locking content, I'm just not digging it. The seasonal reset I don't even really care about.
@@SolidGoldoni yeah, the phases are weird but I think you can change servers to find the phase you want. It is weird, I don't understand it completely. But the AI being brain dead makes it so I can't play for very long. Need a challenge of some sort. There is a lot to like but it does not feel cohesive yet.
Yep. You can clear all content with under optimized gear. Although I wonder if that's due to the restricted 6 week window? They wouldn't want to make it too hard that it was impossible to complete because you ran out of time to get perfect builds etc.
if they insist on the 6 weeks seasons, all they have to do is just make it a choice, you can stay on the previous season and until you finish and advance to the new seasons when you want to, that way casuals will have years of playthrough left, which equals years of possible micro transactions

@@s.muller8688 Because the vast majority of players will move on to the next season anyways. All games with seasons and "eternal realms", over 80-85% of the player base is on the season realm. It's not worth investing that much money for such a small portion of the player base, especially this early on in a game's life. Once it's established and they fine tune their business model and shops, it might be worth it, but not this early
I'm about to buy a battle pass and other skins because I think this game is great. but after watching this video I'll pass lol. gonna play this for 6 weeks then move on to the other game that value my time.
I think the biggest problem with seasons is that when a game with seas9ns comes put andnlays put their plan on how thwy unt3nd, people still play it and complain about it , instead of just finding a game they want to play. I remember when devs made games and people played them if they liked them and just simply didnt if they didnt like it.
you know you can completely ignore the gacha system and pay for what you want instead right? you only have to do that after you have what you want for blueprint fragments.
These arguments are silly. I used to think that a wipe every 6 week was wrong as well BUT then players started to complain about the time gated progression and i realised this generation of new gamers are just confused. So people who won't want a wipe every 6 weeks also don't want time gated zones because they want to finish the game in 5 days. This fast food junkie mentality ruined V Rising where any server lasts for about 5 days and then people quit since they finish everything. Also....mmo games like Once Human will always have influencers complaining about stuff while making tutorials on how to break the game or skip the content. There was a funny comment on steam on how the game is emtpy because he rushed to the endgame zone. Yeah right....the game is full of fun and not so fun content but a new player would need 100 hours to reach the endgame. So tell me, how are people reaching endgame in 4 days and then complaining they don't want a wipe every 6 weeks?
Yes, exactly my point. The server I was on moved to Phase 2 this morning. It was painful watching the ADD players asking when the phase 2 started quite literally every 3-4 minutes in chat, and complaining it wasn't there yet.
The only issue with the game is it's wayyyyy too easy. You can casually stroll through it all with a machete that you build in the first few minutes of the game. The adds just stand there and watch you hack away at their buddies one by one. Server wipes are fine. Everyone complaining about "unfinished game", this game has more polish and imagination than any game I've played in the last 10 years. Just make it harder (like a lot harder), open up the PVP area on PVP servers, and keep the season wipes intact.
its supposed to be easy... this is basically noobie server... it even says "easy" difficulty when you select the server... future seasons will be harder but they cant throw a bunch of new players into the game with hard content and expect everyone to stick around... MANY would quit if its too hard.
"Some of the best monetization for a free-to-play game" is crazy when 99% of the west's free-to-play games are 100% cosmetic only. It's a NetEase game, you have to know what you're getting into. I'm currently playing The First Descendant and I will be playing Throne and Liberty in September. I like that style of game and the monetization doesn't bother me until it reaches a point like Lost Ark did. Don't trust NetEase despite what the devs are saying. It's the publisher's choice at the end of the day what direction the monetization goes in after the launch period. Wipes in a game like Rust make sense because there's not no meta-progression hurt by it. But wipes in a game like this will inevitably drive casuals away, and when that happens the lean towards pay-to-progress will start. Just my opinion.
Why Do developers complicate stuff so much? We don’t like to waste our time with a game, its like when a Kid builds his sand castle and an asshole comes in to destroy it. We can never play a normal game can we. Wipes are not beneficial. Here is an idea, we keep our level and our memetics and everything else or Once human dies with in a month.Your choice. This is no service to the players. How about instead of a wipe. Just remove the long range weapons from the players except the melee weapons. And make it so they can’t use those weapons for at least a week to give the new players a chance to arm themselves and be prepared at the same time so they can gather resources while the wait for weapons and ammo is delayed.Do this every 2 months should be enough
