One of the saddest episodes; 2 innocent people lost their lives because of a violent nut and an opportunistic attorney who didn't know the meaning of justice.
Yes, I agree, it is tragic, but, with Detective Jefferies taking charge, hopefully, both their spirits could rest, the real killer is caught, and hoping that so called attorney faces karma.
Cold Case was good at invoking the viewer's emotions, and this case does it so well, not just the innocent man being executed, but the small funeral for Tibbs combined with Hallelujah, and Tibbs' disappointed look at Jeffries :(. Love how Stillman just dismissed Danner, like yeah I know now get out of here. I hope Danner faces charges for what he did.
All politics aside, this is IMO the best episode of Cold Case. The story is crushingly tragic and Michael Jace does an amazing job portraying Andre. The look at the end between Andre's ghost and Jeffries brings back his "If the ball bounced a little differently, you'd be in here and I'd be out there" scene. Just a great episode and, as other already mentioned, it's a credit to the show that they didn't pull the "saved at the buzzer" happy ending. It needed to be told this way to have meaning.
while i agree with you i think Wishing was alot more heart breaking cold case has dont let up with the punches to your feels i dont think theres a single "bad" episode of cold case
This was the first episode of Cold Case I ever saw, and incidentally also the first time I heard this song. I cant put into words how much this *hit* me on an emotional level. This was an experience, not just a watch.
this was a said episode because of its truth, we will never know how many innocent people died on death row because of sloppy police work and detectives not giving those people a chance
I come back to this song and this episode every so often and the looks in both Kate's and Andre's eyes don't show closure or peace. They show disappointment that the case was not solved until it was too late.
not only does the song hit you in the feels normally the ghost are somewhat content or happy they got justice but here the 2 ghost Kate and Andre are disappointed witch hits you even harder cause we know and the ghost know they couldnt meet the mark and an innocent man was killed basically its half justice. Justice for kate since the sicko got arrested and the corrupt ada got his ass fired (and punched) but no justice for Andre who was killed basically for nothing
And he tried so hard to give good advice and comfort for both Kate and her dad... he had found meaning in his life again, and it was taken from him when he was just trying to do the right thing.
The whole scene with the wrongfully convicted prisoner sitting on the edge of the hearse, in what looks like a prison cemetery, with a look of disappointment speaks volumes.
Man I miss this show. I started too watch it like 6 years ago when I was in High School, every final of every episode made me cry. Just the combination of the music, the moment, the feelings and the sad environment it's just perfect.
This episode is so sad. I mean, I'm glad that the sick bastard who actually did the crime got caught but TWO innocent people ended up dying before justice could truly be done.
Kind of an unfortunate footnote, but the actor in his episode, Michael Jace, really did kill someone (his wife) and is currently doing a forty year stretch in the pen.
That's so sad! He didn't learn anything in his job. I think than the murderers are extremely stupids. If you know that you'll be the rest of your life in prison, why do you do?
@@marialosadavazquez1151 moreover, why kill someone? Regardless of the punishment bc some people can easily get away with it, but it feels crushing to me how some ppl think so little of others' lives.
Hard to feel too bad for the father. First, he gets the guy canned because he wouldn’t let him do his job. That wasn’t enough for him. He had to give false evidence as well. The man was a liar and his “eyewitness” testimony sealed the railroading.
This makes me cry every time I watch it. Every now and again I come back to watch it to see it I can make it through to the end without crying, I have yet to succeed.
I always felt that instead of Kate's ghost just staring at Lilly, that she should have been shaking her head in disappointment. She knew the wrong man was convicted and ultimately executed, but she could do nothing except hope that the police woul do their job and they failed both of them
She actually has a _stare and look_ of disappointment but it’s hard to see due to how quick she turns. I do agree that shaking her head in disappointment would’ve worked better
That's my logic as well. Unless criminology and the criminal justice both function 100 percent perfectly (which is simply impossible), the death penalty is simply unacceptable. That's the paradox of the death penalty, that you simply cannot escape. If you believe someone who murders an innocent person deserves death, and you let the law murder an innocent person in your name, you also deserve death. No supporter of the death penalty has ever been able to beat this logic, and they never will.
I thought it was very appropriate that they showed both the girl who was murdered (victim of the killer), and the innocent man who was wrongfully executed (victim of the killer and a corrupt DA). While I'm certainly not glad the innocent man was executed, I'm impressed that the show didn't do a cliched "saved at the last minute" scene.
Good episode of a good show...lessons taught that a wrongly convicted man gets executed for a rape murder he did not commit, and that they shouldve suspected the foreman from the begining....Ironically the man who played the innocent man in the show, is also a murderer - killed his wife - and is now serving time in prison....Unlike his character who was innocent...the actor is guilty
What i really disliked was the way Will looked and talked down to Andre, i know that everybody in prison is innocent (thats what they all say) but the ones that are actually innocent, they wont be listened to.
Great post....I had never seen this episode until tonite..was riveted to the TV screen..actually was getting a little teary-eyed @ the end..very powerful episode..perfect song
I wonder what the political fallout would have been? I mean they know for a FACT that a innocent man was executed. The collateral damage would have been cataclysmic! 😲
What's ironic about this episode is the actor Michael Jace who plays Andre Tibbs might actually end up on Death Row but in real life he actually committed the crime
aside from the ADA 2 other people were responsible for Andre's wrongful conviction and wrongful execution: Terry Mike Lange(Kate's father) and the cop who was working on Kate's case. all 3 have Andre's blood on their hands.
Amadmaniac1 I know he was in great pain but it's no excuse for what he did. Don't forget he kept his false statement alive until after Andre's execution.
i think perfect day and fly away the saddest episode but this is the worst two innocent people die the inesperate friendship of andre & kate is the best thing of this episode
Best part when Jefferies slug's that prique right in the mouth, and when the black guys being all couritesy and writes that letter wrongly excused such a shame cause this could have happened for real
I never understood why she said. I found faith. No she should have said " Go find Faith. Anyway it's sad and hurt my feelings because I never saw the ending coming. I believed him when he said He didn't do it. But never knew who
Nobody realized that Faith was the name of the daughter of the actual killer and was sexually assaulting her until she finally got away and was able to hide. The victim was assaulted and killed because she looked like his daughter. Sad episode. I do wonder if the real killer would have gotten the death penalty as he was white.
I really loved Cold Case back in the day and I am now re-watching it on Prime! This episode left me with a real sense of injustice but sadly not totally uncommon in America for innocent people to be put to death. In my country, Australia 🇦🇺 we abolished the death penalty in about 1967??. I understand the arguments for and against but I personally am against the death penalty simply because of wrongful convictions like this!
This was a sad episode tho andre never got the freedom he wanted he died of a rape and murder he didn't do Wayne set him up and framed andre for the crime he did R.I.P. to andre tibbs and Kate Lange
