You don’t see it in this video but Farnes tries the old fake tell (sighing and shaking his head like he knows he’s beat) before moving all in. It’s an obvious sign of a monster hand and may have set the alarm bells ringing. Still a great fold regardless but that move never works at this level

@HopyHop1

I think there was a $100,000 pay jump that the next player who busts loses out on. Farnes, the player with pocket kings, would have been all but broke if he lost the hand. Diaz would have lost $100,000 in real cash (not tournament chips) if he called and was wrong. Diaz rightfully suspected that Farnes would not pick such a risky spot to bluff. If Farnes isn't bluffing the best that Diaz can hope for is a chopped pot with queens full of deuces, but if Diaz calls and is wrong he loses $100,000. Under the surrounding circumstances the fold becomes more understandable. Clearly, players can't make a habit of folding hands like queens full because they'll be bluffed too easily if they do so. But in this special situation Diaz realized it's highly unlikely that Farnes is bluffing, and he'll miss out on a $100,000 pay jump if he calls and is beat.

This fold would have been in contention for "THE MOST INSANE FOLD I'VE EVER SEEN" if Diaz had KQ, but I don't think anyone is getting away from queens full of kings on that board. I've seen more impressive folds at the main event. IMHO, Romenello's fold of jacks full of tens against Geller's kings full of tens on a AJKTT board is more impressive. Also, Obst correctly predicting that Ruane has a straight flush and folding his full house is also a more impressive fold. @HopyHop1 Год назад
Do you think anyone would ever try to get his opponent off a chop in that situation or overvalue his hand of queens full of deuces? In answer to the former my guess is probably not because KQ is a significant part of his opponent's range in that spot. However, someone with more moxie than me might go for it. In answer to the latter my guess is almost certainly not because there are a few obvious hands within the opponent's range that beat queens full of deuces in that spot. I'm thinking the best that Diaz can hope for in that situation is that his opponent is attempting to bluff him off a chop. Only 3 combinations of KK and one combination of 22 beats him. There are obviously no bluffs here but there's a lot of Qx hands that his opponent could have, trying to bluff him off the chop. Its a really hard decision and I can only think of one reason why he folded there... to stay alive in the competition. In a cash game, when you're getting 4:1 to call the shove, its a bad fold if he makes it.
@piyushranjan8285
@piyushranjan8285 Год назад
@SilentBob84 You're right, 3 combinations of KQ also have him beat. Still, he should call this bet in a cash game since it is much more likely he just has a Qx hand.

Great fold but not EVEN CLOSE to best ever. KK, KQ or 22 beats him. Stone bluff or Qx highly unlikely. That fold is not even top 10 all time actually but it was phenomenal of course. Best fold I've ever saw was huge event, final 2 people on a rainbow board of 9-7-5-6-4, dude folded the 8 only possibly losing to a 10-8, low probability opponent had that and dude folded it correctly. Of course Selbst folding 44 on a JJ4 flop and she folds the 7 turn. Donk had J7.

@@HopyHop1 I saw that the day it happened, Selbst on day 1 of main event had AA and other lady lady 77. A-7-7 on board, quads went All in, forgot the other cards and Selbst only loses to quads and she didn't snap call and tanked seriously considering fold. Ultimately she called and lost and immediately said I knew it and was wanted to fold but hand was too strong. Opponent could have had A7, 3rd nuts. Farnes is guaranteed a chopped pot w any Q, and maybe scares the fold with a jam. This best fold ever is results oriented. Would be a total donkey fold is Farnes had AA Or QJ suited..

It's not as good as it looks. The guy with KK gave away the most rookie tell of all time. At best he's calling for a chop or he loses. Then there is the situation, he wasn't going to go home at that stage of the main event. Hell he probably folds KQ too the way it played and the stage of the tournament. He was preserving his chips without the nuts, not making an amazing play
