A walk in the Lake District covering two Wainwright Fells, Carrock Fell (661M) & High Pike (658M). The fells are part of the Northern Fells in the Lake District.
The walk starts from the parking area at the base of Carrock Fell beside Stone End Farm in the North East of the Lake District.
The walk starts with a fairly steep climb up to Carrock Fell, first visiting the East Top of the fell before continuing on to the actual summit.
From Carrock Fell we follow the clear path over to High Pike before descending and returning to the parking area.
Distance is around 6 miles.

Thanks Pete. It is a great walk with some cracking views, we both really enjoyed the day and it is definitely a walk we would do again. We are enjoying the walks in the Northern Fells of the Lake District. It is a quiet part of the Lake District, even at this time of year. Thanks for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.

A completely new area of the lakes for me so a very interesting watch. Just thinking, Carol must have been going a canny clip having to wait for you but to be fait it did look steep. Nice little stone shelter on the way up and the main summit point of Carrock fell looked real impressive. A nice walk (bog apart) from one summit to another, with great views and your normal brilliant weather and what a bonus of a bench on the summit as well, real nice memorial. Cheers Alan

Thanks Alan. It is a really nice walk with two good summits. You are right about the climb up to Carrock Fell, it is fairly steep in places, but one you get past the steep section it is good walking all the way. Carol said it was one of the nicest routes down from the fells we have had as it was a nice grassy path all the way back to the road. The weather certainly helped with the views. Definitely a walk we would do again. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.

Another lovely walk in the northern fells eddie ..got to say that climb up to carrock fell is deceiving mind steeper than what it looks .When i was up last year there was one of them stone circles had been made looks like its gone now which is a shame as it was great photo opportunity ,at least you had the standard weather and views ...ATB Andrew⛰👍

Thanks Andrew, yes you are right about the climb up to Carrock Fell, it is pretty steep!! We have really been enjoying walking in the Northern Fells, a quiet part of the Lake District, even at this time of the year. The stone circle must have been removed as we never saw it. We had a great day with great views and the weather certainly helped. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Did this today, early morning as I had the dog and it's so warm! Now when you say steep what turned out for me was STEEP. boy was it hard on the legs to the top. The views were fabulous. Went over to High Pike whi h was nice. Then headed down to the road and got lost 😅. Had to wing it a bit. Shattered and back home.

Hi Julie, good to hear from you. Yes I remember it being steep heading up to Carrock Fell. Wise move heading out early to avoid the hotter part of the day. There has been many times when we have had to " wing it" while out on the walks, these bits are edited out, ha! I think you have earned yourself a glass of wine or two for tonight! We are off to Lake Garda in Italy next week, hoping to get some walks in over there. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Great hike Eddie, a lovely day for it too, some brilliant clear views on one side looking out towards the pennines, turned the camera around and you've got all the fells of the lakedistrict, class...a like the top of high puke with that seat, very welcoming for a rest and drink 👌, quite a initial steep looking climb at the start, bet that got the blood pumping 🥵, spot on mate, I would definitely like that one 👍, atb Mick

Thanks Mick. It is a really nice walk and not too long, as far as mileage is concerned. A steep climb up to Carrock Fell, but after that it is a really pleasant walk. As you have said, great views all around. Both good summits and a rare sight seeing a bench on High Pike. Thanks again for watching & commenting Mick, it is appreciated. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.

Video vastly improved by the presence of the lovely Carol 😍 Just about understood the Narrative, have been listening to tapes of Up North Speak and I think I'm getting the hang of it now. No respite here then Eddie, straight at it..........that must have been steep at 2min 30sec even you were breathing hard, nice sheepfold there for a short rest if it was windy, great shots of you on that rocky-outcrop. Extensive views across the farmland/plain(Carrock east summit) and even better at the true summit. The route across to High-pike must have been really enjoyable after that stiff ascent .......crikey yeah mate, a bench on such a high summit rare indeed......nice touch with the curlew on the summit plaque. Now thats the kind of descent that would suit our lass(she has trouble with steep, rocky descents).....real nice video Eddie. The last month or so RU-vid has not been notifying me of my subscribed videos until way after they are published so I know I have missed a few of yours, sorry about that mate......ATB.......Stu/Wendy...👍👍👌👌

Hi Stu, you're right, it was steep, but as we got higher up the gradient eased a lot, which was a relief! It was an easier walk between Carrock Fell and High Pike, although a bit boggy in places. They were both really good summits and definitely a walk we would do again. The descent was really good, a grassy path all the way down. It was one of the nicest descents we have done.. Thanks again for watching & commenting Stu, it is appreciated. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.

Smashing video, Eddie. I watched it last weekend before coming down from Stirling to follow your route last Tuesday. Found steep bit at start of walk hard going. Weather not as good as you had it. - Pouring and very windy at top of Carrock Fell. Joined up with a lovely couple from Sunderland who had recently moved to Lake District. - Judging by your accent I suspect you don't live too far from Sunderland. I've just watched your video a second time. Enjoyed it even more now I've actually done the walk.

Hi Russell, thanks for the positive comments on the video, it is appreciated. You are right, it is steep at the start and I can imagine it being even more difficult with the weather you had. It is a really nice walk once passed the steep section. You are also correct about my accent, we live in Morpeth in Northumberland, which is not too far from Sunderland. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.

Another superb video Eddie, fabulous photos on both of the summits. Carol took a nice video of you too and a great photo of you out on the rock. Alan would have loved that seat on High Pike, it was shouting out to be sat on. You had the Lake District all to yourselves and normal Caisley weather off course. We're going to the Mournes on friday to hike with another couple. Not sure if I can video or not but I'll bring the gear just in case!! Regards, Ashley and Andrea.

Brilliant video as always Eddie. That’s a great walk. I seem to remember there were some old mine workings on that way down from High Pike but maybe I’m getting mixed up. Lovely weather. I’m back to the lakes tomorrow to bag a few outlying fells but I don’t think I’m gonna b as lucky with my weather :-) Thanks again.

Thanks Alan. Yes, I agree it is a really good walk with some great views. Another walk we would definitely do again. You are right, there are some old mine workings coming down from High Pike, but I did not get them on film. We stayed on the path, which I think, is above the old mine workings. Hope you have a great walk in the outlying fells and fingers crossed for the weather. Thanks again for watching & commenting, it is appreciated. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.

Excellent Ed. If you’ve seen my vid I did Carrock and High Pike up the river valley from Mungrisedale and High pike then Carrock. Very steep in deed the way you did it. Btw have a look at drone footage of the Carrock fort. It’s Iron Age. Not so visible at ground level. Again super vid bud. 👍

Thanks for sharing your walk Eddie, always great to watch. Looks like another lovely day with great views. Was amused by the neat little cairn atop High Pike and the untidy pile of stones right next to it! Is it supposed to be a shelter of some kind? Thanks again.
