Parkinson's can be cured with high dose thiamine. People have been trying to tell him about it on social media, but he must not read comments. His foundation also turned down funding additional research.
He’s playing like he did in the movie while fighting Parkinson’s disease. Michael J Fox is an absolute legend who deserves all the love in the world❤️❤️❤️
@@b_p5558 its really not its derived from the Greek word "Giga" meaning giant and denotes quantities of 1 billion so gigawatt, gigabyte, gigahertz, etc, etc
Michael J Fox is an absolute legend. He didn't actually play this in back to the future but after filming it he got so many requests from people on talk shows asking him to play it that he learnt it. And to play it with this awful condition so well I have nothing but respect for him.
From my understanding he did kinda play the song. He didn't play it well at all but learned the cords so he was at least close to looking like he was playing it even though he was way off but on camera it looked close enough He later actually learned the song.
@@roguepowersports3576 Seen a video where someone recreated his performance from his finger-laying. Wasn't too bad (after all, he did want to be in a band before becoming an actor), but still kinda amateurish by movie standards. Though I also heard that he had to change some parts so he would look better on camera
@@HalNordmann I believe I know what video you are referring to. I do remember seeing an interview with Michael J Fox way back in the day stating close to what I said. I don't know about you but I was 5 when the movie came out. Just goes to show how great of a movie it is still being talked about 39 years later.
I remember when I went on the Back to the Future ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. I had no idea we were on a track. I was skeert shitless. After I realized we were on a track i was freaked out. It really looked like we were flying over the big white clock in town.
Unfortunately that might not be the case anymore, cause if I remember from a interview he did last year, he said that the disease is now calling the shots. Doesn't stop him from being a legend though.
JZZY WLLMS He's a hero in the sense that he's an inspiring person. He's overcoming his own boundaries by getting up in front of thousands of people and playing guitar with a disease that affects your muscles. I play guitar myself and I can't imagine what it must be like to play with Parkinsons. It took some serious balls to do what he did here. Massive respect for the guy. Did he get a fee? Maybe. I'd like to think that if he did he donated it to his charity fund, but I guess we'll never know.
I believe the official definition of 'hero' is: "a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities." Michael has all 3 of those. So to me at least, he's a hero.
JZZY WLLMS The reason I gave you the definition of the word hero is because you tried to say I was using the term incorrectly and declare he's more of an ambassador. Now you seem to be saying that a person's view of a 'hero' is subjective. So that means I can see him as a hero if I want, and you may not. That's fine. You can give him all the labels you want. But to me, personally, the guy is a hero.
+JZZY WLLMS What the fuck is wrong with you? Can you let go of some small semantics quandary and just enjoy the video? He isn't just "Playing the guitar" he's playing the guitar with some of the best selling musicians of all time, on one of the world's largest stages for his fans whilst having a debilitating muscular disease. We get it - it takes so much more to impress you because of your towering standards. Now get off the damn high horse.
I cried . That's the sound of mans soul . Every note like a ringing bell . Thank you Michael , you made Chuck proud. You are a fighter and a legend. ❤️
There are moments that warm your heart, like the Enchantment Under the Sea dance scene from BttF. Then there are moments that break your heart, like Michael's diagnosis. But then, my friends, then there are moments that make your heart soar high like an eagle. This is one of those moments and forever will be. Thank you, Coldplay. Thank you, Michael.
Arguably one of the most humble people of all time...his fight against Parkinson's has been remarkable and never once has he felt sorry for himself or given up the battle..LEGEND 🤗🤗🤗
@@JD-zd8tm I wonder how you would react when your life falls apart after hearing a parkinson's diagnosis. Besides this, he has quit drinking two years later. THAT makes him a legend!
I hate being sick he had to concentrate so hard just to do this tiny bit on stage and the exhaustion afterwards I can only just imagine my heart always still lies with Michael A. Fox ❤
When I was a kid I went to the same school as Michael had gone to a couple years prior, we was "famous" at the time for being on a local Vancouver TV show, this was even before Family Ties. He was my hero then, he is a hero now. Awesome how much he accomplished, and still inspires.
Burnaby Central. 10 years after he moved out, there were still young girls hanging around out front of his parent's house, hoping to get a glimpse of him.
Gotta wonder how much playing helped as therapy. I have depression from chronic back pain and music is my savior. MJF is an inspiration. No matter of the trials one goes through, one thing that that brings all people together is music no matter the genre.
He learned the guitar part note for note for Back to the Future. It's not him playing but he wanted to be able to play it it so it looked real in the movie.
It's a testament to Michael's resolve he can even play the guitar, let alone get most of the notes right, we're all with you Michael! Awesome to see this, he's a hero
So many props to MJ Fox. Johnny B. Goode is hard enough for guitar players to play live, but to do it with the limitations he had to overcome is god like. I couldn't even start imagine how much work went in to relearning the basics of guitar with no control over his hands.
I always respected MJ I was 14 when back to the future came out and blew me away, amazing guy and amazing he still gives it all he has to play despite this horrible disease he fights. Hat off to you sir
My 9yr old kid just watched BTTF and he's currently learning the intro to Johnny B Goode because he wants to "play like Marty". Still rocking, Mike. :)
My grandpa has Parkinson's and can not move anymore. Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's and is still playing guitar. Keep it up edit: my grandpa died one month ago 😪 (May 2021)
My father-in-law got Parkinson's at age 79 and only lasted 3 years until he passed. When we asked we were told it is different when you get it at a young age compared to getting at an older age.
This was so cool. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be able to play an instrument at that level and have it slowly being torn away from you unless you take heavy medication. My heart breaks for him. But he keeps fighting. Respect
Bless him, no one deserves to suffer such a tragedy, so bad ass that he still plays guitar, I’m sure it brings him great joy! Stay strong my brother! Power to Coldplay for having him join them onstage! It shows true class and compassion Right on!
Michael I love you so much.. so much.. my heart beats faster everytime I see you.. I grew up with Back to The Future and I keep watching all of them every year.. thanks for the dreams you made me live!.. ♥️
"Marty! Where were you?!" "I'm sorry, Doc, this band asked me to play with them and -" "Marty, you know the consequences of that! You could've ripped open the space-time continuum!" "It was Coldplay, Doc." "Great Scott! Did you get me an autograph at least?"
Awesome….I went to Coldplay because my wife wanted too…. I wasn’t a big fan….didn’t dislike them , just didn’t know much about them..one of the best shows I’ve ever seen..awesome
Unfortunately, because it's a degenerative disease, even if they found the cure tomorrow, it would only prevent him from getting worse. MJF is an amazing man... I'm filled with joy to see him still able to get around so well
@SMUS16475 I hope so too. I would love to have my husband not progress any further. He has been a PD patient for 7 years now. Only 55 and walks like he's 80.
You don't have to imagine, go watch "Light of Day" starring MJF and Joan Jett. His playing and singing in that film is genuine, not dubbed over like it was in BTTF. He was really quite good for a non-pro.
He’s good at it because he’s never had Parkinson’s....mike j fox is an actor playing an actor....Hollywood character...when Kobe Bryant faked his death mr fox was on an interview playing a crisis actor (video has now been deleted) These people are disgusting Freemason freaks💯
He hired a guitar teacher to teach him to play specifically for Back To The Future because he didn't want to fake it. Now THAT is how you get things done. Mad respect to Michael!!
@@p.j.morris633 Not according to this www.cinemablend.com/news/2548088/back-to-the-future-michael-j-fox-recalls-the-weeks-of-work-that-went-into-johnny-b-goode
@@xoxdarkdragonxox i know Mike personally and he has played since he was 14 yrs old he was in a band.. what ever that is you posted i am not interested i know the truth. He had to be taught to play Johnny B. Good for sure but he still played guitar since age 14.
Not sure how anyone could not love that clip given what MJF was battling. I never realized he actually played the guitar riffs in the original BTF and now with severe Parkinson's. So cooooool!
Actually, Fox admitted someone else played the riff, but he knew it well enough to do a brilliant finger sync. He said he could play it, but he couldn't play it THAT tight.
@@jaklumen Exactly, they taught him the song so it looked right, but one of the people who does "This is what they're really playing" pointed out it's pretty close... just in the wrong key. I'm not sure if he relearned it along the way or his guitar is tuned differently when he plays it here.
Him and Christopher Reeve's will always be my most powerful hero's in my entire life. They produced the best movies and had the worse health conditions put upon them and they pushed through them like champs.
For those who didn’t get the reference, you should watch “back to the future” . Still one of my favorite movies of all time, those two songs he played in that movie
My sister has Parkinson's Disease. Michael J Fox isn't just an actor to folks like us, He is THE Actor and A HERO! His work for PD is phenominal! Much Love to Mr. Fox! According to Joan Jett, who did "light of Day" with Fox, He really can play, it's not acting when he's on guitar.
Most people get Parkinson's disease in their 60s, or later, in life. MJF was diagnosed at age 29. Can you imagine going through this awful disease for the majority of your years? He's had a great support system with a wonderful woman at his side. But this is one tough hombre, and I could not respect this man more.
