@@justme6959 Honestly, the novel Romancing Mr Bridgeton is pretty fantastic at showing not only how much Colin comes to not only love but respect Penelope to the point where he becomes jealous of her talent and accomplishments as Mrs Whistledown. I don't think there's any need to give Pen another love interest as then it would take away from all the love and devotion that Colin puts in to make the entire Ton acknowledge and respect Penelope. Colin also ends up deeply regretting that he was blind to Penelope's charms for so long. Not to mention that season 2 was enough of love triangles. However, without a time skip it will be hard to follow the novel as both Colin and Pen look way too young and immature to follow the plot points in a believable way. In the show Colin is quite frankly a bit of an immature ass so to have him change from one season to another into a man who not only is introspective but can command the attention of an entire ballroom, without a lot of time passing, will feel weird.

Next season we shall see. Season 3 here we come :)

falling in love is different for everyone, and in my opinion realizing that you are in love with your friend/best friend is ever harder. Because they are always there, because you might be scared to take the leap of faith and change that relationship. Plus Pen is not viewed as the standard of beauty for those times which also plays a role, even if Colin, at least the book Colin, prefers more voluptuous woman. All of that just comes to place when he allows himself to really see her as a woman.

It’s sad because in the books he was only talking to his brothers, it was much less mean, and she accidentally overheard and he KNEW and FELT the awkward.

I don't think he is just playing up for the guys, he really means it. He loves and likes Pen, but feels no atraction. That makes the whole concept of courting really awkward and the thought alone of kissing and bodily relations feels so wrong.

They've slow burn, friends to lovers troupe, self worth, lost hero, gamma-beta hero, secret identity, plus sized heroine and of course, unresolved sexual tension and some really delicious love scenes. Each scene between Colin and Pen is amazingly beautiful in the book so to be honest I will riot if they decide to delete any of them, but I bet that exactly what they will do lmao so I just need to be prepared for it already. I firmly believe it will be season 3. Re-watch the Pall Mall scene looking for Easter Eggs. They almost make it *too* obvious! Starting with Daph slamming down Wicket #3 and exclaiming "This will teach Colin!", saying "Colin will strike when you are least expecting it," Ben missing and then Colin making his shot on Wicket III both times, to the background dialog of Ben "Ugh I missed it" and El replying "Colin, it's your turn!" (Use closed captions) even though Ben is leaning against his mallet and didn't even swing. I'd be more surprised if that scene wasn't cut together like that deliberately!
