Totally... forget hand checking rules, launching nothing but threes, no skills in the post or mid range game. You can see when rules changed in 2000s same players shooting percentages went up. Free throws went up. Sure maybe it’s not exaggerated as some make it seem but yes it’s easier to score today then years ago. Joker existed before it’s called Bill Walton then in 2000s a past his prime Sabonis. There was more than two 7 footers when Wilt played.. misremembering history allows you to make any argument. KD and Lebron would do well in any era. Don't for one second think that they would just rule the league, the one difference from back then to now is basketball smarts! Can you imagine Draymond Green trying to guard Kareem in the post? Ain't happening! Lebron and KD rarely take advantage of their mismatches and that's why they wouldn't win too many Championships in that era.

Btw, lbj isn't even a king of cleveland, curry have won more rings in cleveland than lbj himself smh lbj is just a by-product of the media ... To be fair, I don't hate lbj, I just hate how media and the league portrayed him as so called one of the "goats, top 5 of all time" but it's not coz we all damn know we'll he got lots of flaws to be considered on those criteria... Tbh 2011 finals should've ended that goat debate plus he's 3-out-of-9 in the finals and got SWEPT not once but twice, just think bout that... He's one of the best players who played the game but he's OVERATED to me, I agree top 10 of all time is a good spot for him and that GOAT debate had already ended

HE'S WRONG. "69 Years of Height Evolution in the NBA" report was published earlier this year where 4,379 NBA players analyzed from its beginning. NBA players are the lightest they’ve been in the 21st century at 216 lbs. and the shortest since 40 years ago (6'6"). SO HOW CAN THEY BIGGER, STRONGER AND FASTER? This stated that the NBA is pushing across it's media partners is false. Even doesn't past the eye test when you look at centers and power forwards from the mid-90s when you had Shaq (330 lbs), Zo, David Robinson, etc. ALL were much bigger and stronger than today's centers. The research report shows every position besides the point guard has declined in height and weight over the past decade, AND all other positions are the shortest since the 80s. AND why are the highest verticals in NBA history dominated by players from the 80s and 90s? Vertical is one of the primary eye-tests and factors people use to describe how "athletic" a player is.

@Sasuke Uchiha Name an athlete in today's game? Athletes of today are simply more athletic. He, ppl in general are just more athletic. It's just the times. That's why it takes more than just athleticism to be great. There nearly 500,000+ high school basketball players. About 10,000 college basketball players...about 3% of those will play professionally. It doesn't mean they're not athletic. There are a few different factors. However, all the intangibles have to be there to make you a super star.
@LenFnc
@LenFnc 3 года назад
@Sasuke Uchiha Obviously, you didn't/don't comprehend the statement. Naming one is simply ridiculous. The entire league is just more athletic. If you're a fan of the game then you can look at the game and see the that fact. But to appease you, I will name some... 1. Zack Levine 2. Blake Griffin 3. Giannis Antetokounmpo 4. Aaron Gordon 5. Andre Iguodala 6. Dennis Smith Jr. 7. Jason Tatum 8. Jaylen Brown 9. Jerami Grant 10. Miles Bridges A few big names, but mostly ppl that would be considered the 3rd, 4th or 5th go to when on the court. It could be better said as, "Athleticism is far too often defined as explosiveness or pure leaping ability. Athleticism is a combination of explosiveness, agility, lateral quickness, body contortion and stamina. These elements make up the broad term of athleticism. They’re not all weighted equally, especially in basketball." - Keandre Ashley (Medium)

"old school" NBA players like Kenny Smith always wanna sneak in " its a different game now " can't stand it when he leans on that before complimenting a current player. Overall a lot of them are like that unlike most old school NFL players for instance.
@Rancoroth419
@Rancoroth419 3 года назад
It is a different game, just like how free agency changed the NFL. NFL salaries were nothing back in the 60s, so much so, that players had to get real jobs in the off seasons. Let that sink in. TV Money, changed the way games were played. Vince Lombardi said it, the first time his team had to wait to run a play in a game, due to a TV time out, that it would change the game, and it did.
@303Smilezzz
@303Smilezzz 3 года назад
@@Rancoroth419 true points, but how does that diminish the evolution and skill level of todays player, and elevate the abilities pf players in the past? Kenny is right when he says its a different game, obviously it is, but to use that as a scapegoat as a reason for todays NBA players not being as good, is ridiculous.

They argue that because they know if they acknowledge that players today are better, they lose their spots in the history of the game. So they come up with talking points like.... I like to watch the 90's guys play more than now, and Lebron's game is somewhat unassuming, but you can't argue with the impact this guy has on any game he plays. You put 5 LeBrons on the court and you simply can't lose. Not because he is more clutch, more skilled, better from 3, better on the post, better on the drive or any of that nonsense. Those 5 Lebrons would beat you every time because they would outsmart you. The guy is level headed, you can't get under his skin The guy reads you better than you know yourself The guy remembers every single detail about every player The guy is almost indestructible physically We have to respect all the greats, but none of those greats would have come from 3-1 down against the best regular season team in history, leading both teams in every single stat in the book. Oh, he did all that while playing for the Cavaliers, from Cleveland!!! The 73-9 GSW then hired the second best player in the league and if it wasn't for JR Smith things could have gone differently.

Problem with lebron is that he is less competitive than the players he is compared to. He doesnt have a killer instinct to take over games and force a win - other players simply wouldnt allow their team to lose. Lebron is a lot of things, clutch isnt one of them. So was it JR Smith or Lebron who came back from 1-3?

If LeBron James is number 10, that makes Kenny Smith number 320 when he played. He piggyback off of Hakeem Olajuwon that's the only reason he has a ring. Stop hating. 17 years after you started playing where were you at?

Back in the day you had people who were really good scorers and ok scorers. Now averaging 25 is normal. Just because more people can drop 25 does not mean it is easier. If it was easier people would be dropping 37 not 25.

GroundBeefTaco shaq was more terrifying bc of his size but Giannis is more terrifying in the sense he is wayyy more skilled than shaq (thus, the topic of the video that players are more skilled and bigger now). Giannis can do everything on the court, shaq was glued to the paint.
@SuperRosso1000
@SuperRosso1000 3 года назад
Define skill? Yes, Giannis can hit a 15 footer with decent dribble. But isn't skill all about winning a chip in the end? You wouldn't ask someone like Shaq to shoot a 15 footer. He did what he did because it put his team on the best path to a W. Doing that and being clutch is what skill is to me. They're both center but go about the game differently. Oh and let's not forget Shaq is a freak of an athlete!
@tubbymunchkin7254
@tubbymunchkin7254 3 года назад
GroundBeefTaco giannis isn’t a center. Skill is not winning a championship at all. Skill is dribbling, shooting, distributing. All those things giannis can do infinitely better than shaq. I’m not saying giannis is better than shaq, I’m just saying he is more skilled. Shaq was a good athlete but he got large and out of shape at the end of his career. And he never was skilled outside of the post.

Thank you! I agree with all of this! Players nowadays are ridiculously good. Porzingis isn't really a unicorn in this league and everyone should stop and think about that one. 7' 3" center that can outrun half the league and can shoot 3's... Giannis, Lebron, Kyrie, Harden, Curry, Dame, Jokic, Doncic... these are ridiculous human beings. The top 50 in this league right now would beat any other time period. Period. Some of the players of old were great but they did not have the quantity so their competition was weak.
