He couldn’t play defense, facilitate and was a bad rebounder for his position coming into the league before the injury. For a guy whose only value was his offense he was an inefficient scorer with a weak jump shot, who couldn’t get to the stripe or shoot all that well when he did, and was too small to guard bigger 4s and not quick enough or talented enough to guard SFs. That’s not to say he was entirely a bust he could’ve been an okay role player but he had a dogshit mindset. Even in his best season before the second acl tear he was shooting under 50% and for a big who got most of his points in the paint that’s not conducive to winning basketball. They actually got much better after he got injured because it allowed Giannis to take on more responsibility. That’s why he was moved to the bench when he came back the next season. He fits perfectly for a list like this

He had a very, very illustrious college career and a very. very underwhelming NBA career. That is the topic of the snake draft. I didn't make a single statement saying Laettner was better than Shaq.

@@stevenjm12 at least a quarter of this list wasn’t actually expected to be all stars, so if you stay with that mindset there was a whole generation of kids that watched him dominate in college that thought he was gonna do the same in the league. And even in draft circles at that time after he had a great combine the discourse was yeah he’s undersized and lacks some athleticism he had enough skill, heart, and a high enough basketball IQ to overcome that. He was still a lottery pick but mostly my point was just a lot of people especially of a certain age use him as an answer in lists for this debate

@@le9335 He had a great later career as a glue guy, knock down open 3s. But if you compare it to his college career that by sophomore year he is already compared to all time greats having a solid career and making a ton of money still seems like a huge let down.
