Trust me. That Tennessee crowd was 102,455 strong and they're ridiculously loud in there. A player from that game talked about how he could feel the noise in his skin.

Can’t believe Florida State University’s tradition of Chief Osceola riding out on the field on Renegade, the horse, and stabbing the lit spear in the ground is left out of the video.... One of the most well known traditions in college football and a truly meaningful one with the actual unconquered Seminole Tribe of Florida playing a huge role in the process of the tradition.

Some of the largest stadiums in America, and even the world, aren’t pro football stadiums but rather college football stadiums with over 100,000 available seats. Not even room with standing space, but actual seats for tickets to be sold for spectator attendance

I go to the university of Iowa! The tradition is that at the end of the first quarter, the whole stadium turns away from the field to focus on something bigger than football. The best part is that even the opposing team contributes and participated in the tradition. For about 5 minutes, nothing is bigger than the kids!

As an Iowa Hawkeye fan, I was thrilled to see our tradition lead off the video And that more people can be exposed to such a special thing. 70k strong turning to wave and support those kids Brings a tear to your eye every time.

The jump around at University of Wisconsin actually shows up on therichter scale an earthquake over a mile away. You can feel it at bars around the stadium, it actually made them reinforce the stadium. They tried to shut the whole thing down in fear it was going to collapse the stadium, it sways the stadium lol.

I’m an iowa Hawkeye fan who does “the wave” that’s the very first clip, it’s cool to see on a screen but it’s unbelievable in person. Knowing kids who got to see the wave from the hospital, it’s a big morale boost and gives them something to look forward.

fun fact: Every saturday (pre-covid) the stadium at Michigan University is the 5th largest populated "city" in the state. (111,000!)

Best part about the Iowa Wave is it gives EVERYONE an uplift..... from the kids fighting their fight to those simply waving because we all feel good trying to make someone's day.

On the Tennessee clip, it's important to note not only the fight song being sung by over 100k fans, but the checkerboard pattern of the fans in the stands. It was one of the first times it was attempted, where the fans looked up where their seats were to see whether to wear orange or white. This was an homage to the checkboard pattern in the end zones, an iconic look for their field for decades.

In the Tennessee bit the crowd is singing a song called "Rocky Top."

The Iowa wave is, by far and it's not close, the greatest tradition in college sports. And I say this as a Michigan fan. Absolutely fantastic new tradition they started there.

The Tennessee fans are singing an old country song called “Rocky Top” and it goes “rocky top you’ll always be home sweet home to me, good ole rocky top, rocky top Tennessee”

I was part of the "wave" to Iowa children's hospital....brought me to tears.

The Mississippi State game, the story is that during a game in the early 1900s, a cow wandered onto the field during a game and they had to herd it off the field and the team ended up winning the game so the tradition was born to ring cowbells.

Just for a bit of context into why college football is so important to American culture. The battle of bull run was the first big land battle in the Civil War, and people came on carriages to watch the battle which started the "tailgate", then most of the men fighting were of the age of a college student, so generally they would leave their schools and go to fight for their respective states (hence why the band resembles a war uniform of the time). There were entire college classes that were wiped out as a result (Texas A&M). Another minute detail was in the south, the girls their age would walk the men out as they marched, so generally the cheerleaders run out before the football team (generally). So really these games are almost a representation of who's state is the best for war... and football and its tactical side are a decent representation for war. That is why every game has the magnitude of a World Cup Finals match.

The Virginia Tech intro has to be experienced at least once! The entire stadium shakes from all of the jumping. It's amazing.

The Mississippi State University tradition of the cowbells started a long time ago when a stray cow wandered onto the football field during a game. State went on to win that game and the fans adopted the Cowbell as a good luck charm. The tradition has become deeply rooted. Now, fans have attached handles to their bells and have customized them, painting them and decorating them. I saw a Dallas Cowboys #4, Mississippi State #15 mash up paint job on a cow bell once in honor of our beloved Dak Prescott. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. Now, cowbells are traditionally gifted to you or passed down among family members. They have grown in numbers and have gotten so incredibly loud, that the SEC has banned them from MSU's Away games. So... Hail State! "We Ring True"!!

Ahhhh Iowa’s first quarter wave I’ve been to a game recently and I took part in the wave, it’s a BEST tradition is college football hands down! Yes I’m a Iowa fan lmao

I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa and I received my degree from the University of Iowa. I still get goose bumps, being part of the Iowa Wave, at the end of the first quarter. U of I Hospitals and Clinics built the, “Press Box” prior to the 2017 season so there would be a near-perfect view of Kinnick Stadium. The children, being treated at the children’s hospital, and their families are able to watch all of the games. I’m not sure who loves it more because the fans, and the players, always look forward to doing The Wave 👋.

I went to Iowa State for grad school (the in-state rival to Iowa), and I applaud the Hawkeyes, as well, for their traditions.

I'm an Iowa State fan (and now alumni) and my dad did business in London and some of his buddies wanted to go to the Iowa v Iowa State game and they were genuinely shocked about the atmosphere and how into it we got (we won at Iowa so me and my dad were going wild). It's an insane sport

The video skipped the best part of the Clemson tradition which is when all the players run down the hill, after touching the rock, and onto the field. The Clemson stadium is nicknamed, and more commonly referred to as, Death Valley. That's why the rock being from Death Valley in California is meaningful. They also didn't show FSU's tradition which is super cool and has ties to the local Native American tribe. FSU, Florida State Univeristy, has a deal with the local Native American tribe, The Seminoles, and it's actually members of the tribe who take part in it.

"Sweet Caroline" transcends all walks of life. I've been to multiple heavy metal concerts, and if the sound test plays "Sweet Caroline" before the show starts, every single metalhead there is singing along.

The game with Tennessee singing Rocky Top against Oklahoma is recorded as one of the loudest if not the loudest it’s ever been in Neyland. Being from Oklahoma, that game sparked the legend of Baker Mayfield (QB wearing number 6 for Oklahoma) was born in Sooner nation that day. Absolutely incredible game and from what a lot of the Sooner fans were saying the Tennessee fans were really awesome to them even after a loss

I'm a Buckeye fan, but my favorite part of college football is the traditions of each school and the undying love for their teams the fans have. CFB is regional, it's tribal but also beautiful in that way, we all love our teams that much.

Would definitely recommend looking into the Army vs Navy game. The biggest yet most underrated rivalry game in college football.

College Football is semi-pro here. People are raised to follow a college like you would a pro soccer team. A lot of these fans didn't even attend the university they are pulling for.

I went to Auburn for my undergrad, and during orientation they take you to the football stadium for a bit to teach you the chants, songs, and cues with the cheerleaders, band, and mascot present. This is so when you attend your first football game you already know all the cheers and chants so it can sound uniform, especially from the student section. Traditions are very big for college football here in the US. Thanks for sharing this video!

The penn state tradition is called the "white out" as you can see for home games they wear all white and it can look like a snow storm in the stands

It really depends where you live in the US on how big College Football is. In Kentucky, Basketball is king, but in places like Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania, and Ohio College Football is king.

College football is steeped in history and context so sometimes it's difficult to appreciate some of it unless you're familiar with the geography and culture. That being said, game days are an incredible experience - from the pep rallies, tailgating, and the marching bands to the game itself, it's a 24+ hour celebration of sport and community that happens for a few short months every fall Saturday.

Yeah college sports in america when its comes to football is a whole different environment than the NFL same with basketball because especially with students you have them taking pride in their school so you have those traditions that are there, like yeah the nfl you do too but its just not the same

The singing of 'Sweet Caroline' at sporting events is generally credited with either the Boston Red Sox baseball team, or the Carolina Panthers NFL team. Both began using it regularly in the late 1990s, but seems to be generally more associated with the Red Sox.

Mississippi State student here. Cowbells are awesome little instruments, but the video they showed was in the old Davis Wade Stadium. New Davis Wade holds about 62k people and WAY more potential for #MoreCowbell. Hail State my friends

I'm from Iowa and I have been at the Children's Hospital a couple times for my 2 sons since they were both born early and every time we have been there, we have had a room facing the stadium and being able to look down into the field was such an amazing view. Also side note, my dad was part of the crew that redid all the piping in the stadium back in the 90s early 2000s, he said being up in the booths was such a great experience. He use to tell me all kinds of stories about it and one that stuck with me is that the locker room for the away team is pink, I wonder if they kept it pink or have they changed it since then.

I'm from Iowa and we're known as the nice state, we'll wait that extra few seconds to hold a door open for ya. Smile at ya and say hello, pull over and help ya with a flat tire . My cresit card wouldn't work at the grocery store and a complete stranger saw me in a panic and paid for my groceries and refused to let me pay her back,it's truly a great place full of good hearted people I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

In Amsterdam several years back, a friend and I were waiting to board our plane back home. She had on her LSU shirt, and I had on my Bama shirt, when all of a sudden, we hear WAR EAGLE being yelled across the airport. The two of us jumped up, and I yell back Roll Tide, and she yells Geaux Tigers! Everyone in the airport is looking at us and around us like we are crazy! Out of the crowd comes this guy wearing an Auburn shirt. We spent a good hour at the airport talking. THAT is what SEC is all about! Three major football rivals 1000s of miles from home but connected by their love of the game.

The last one is Texas A&M. That is Midnight Yell and is actually done the night before a football game.

The first clip is referred to as the “Iowave”. Iowa is known as the “Hawkeye State”, and the people from Iowa eat, sleep, and breathe Iowa Hawkeye football from the moment they can speak. To those kids, having the Iowa football team do this means more than you could ever know. While I can’t stand the football team (Go Canes 🙌🏼), just an incredibly heartwarming thing to see and be a part of.

One thing that is little know about "Jump Around" in Camp Randell Stadium, is that the Upper Deck does actually move. Its sways roughly 6 inches to a foot, and was designed by Engineering Students at the University of Wisconsin.

Man you've got to see an extended Jump Around. I ran a blocks away from the stadium and you can feel Jump Around shaking the ground. That atmosphere is INCREDIBLE.

South Carolinas stadium is insane when sandstorm starts playing

I went to the university of Iowa and the wave is an amazing tradition. Even the other teams fans and players will turn and wave to the kids. It’s a powerful moment.

To add to the tradition of Virginia Tech besides the jump to Metallica is that there is a "Hokie Stone" in the tunnel leading to the field and all the coaches and players touch the stone before entering the field. Hokie Stone is what most of the buildings on campus are built from. It is locally quarried.

The last one was midnight yell practice done the night before games at Texas A&M. They get about 25,000 to midnight yell and over 100,000 to the game.

Texas has 2 college stadiums that seat 100K+ (Uni of Texas, and Texas A&M Uni), the Cotton Bowl in Dallas which seats 96K+, and numerous smaller ones. College football is King!

At our highschool we would chant "What time is it?" and the others would respond "Cheesecake". Because a popular coach who led us to multiple a 5a championships was once asked what time it was during a rally. However, he was eating cheesecake and he though they asked "What kind is it?", so he yelled back Cheesecake!!!

The last clip of Texas A&M is of their traditional midnight cheer practice before game day. The fans go to stadium just to practice their cheers before a game at midnight.

You should see the rivalry game that happened a couple of weeks ago between the OU Sooners and Texas Longhorns. It was a very close game. The rivalry is named the Red River Shootout, since the two states are separated by the Red River. One of the best rivalries in college.

I can explain a bit of 11:24 and onward part. My best friend went to that university, "Texas A&M", so I was able to go to a number of home games. They are doing something called "Midnight Yell", which is the night before the game. Most of the student body shows up, and they practice the "yells" they are going to do the next day at the game. At Texas A&M, they don't have cheerleaders, instead they have "yell leaders", who are high ranking members of the Corps of Cadets. Also, all of the marching band members are required to also enroll in the Corps of Cadets, so they have a rather military and country like atmosphere to them, as you could tell by the "farmer's fight" yell lol. Also, I hate this video, because it literally explains nothing about what you are watching and just leaves you clueless. I've seen a number of people react to this video, and it happens every time. Great reaction on your part though, I found y'alls channel about a week ago, and been binge watching all your videos. Keep it up! EDIT: I forgot to say, but before they do a yell, the yell leader will do a hand signal to indicate which yell they are going to do, then the students in the front, who can see the yell leaders, do the same signal, and the signal keeps getting sent back until it gets to the top. Then when the yell leader sees that it's reached the top, they start the yell. It's a really unique school!

I have a theory on why college football/basketball in the States is the closest thing we have to English football in terms of culture and atmosphere. Most if not all professional sports teams have stadiums that are in the middle of the richest part of our major cities and most fans dont usually live next or close to it, as for college stadiums, they are in campuses and communities which brings more passion from fans when they live right next to the stadium. Its like how in Europe, football fans are super passionate because a lot of the pitches are integrated in the community where as in the States they're usually placed in the middle of some gigantic parking lot amongst skyscraper offices or completely outside the city. I'm from Seattle and our university is University of Washington and we have one of the loudest stadiums in CFB. I recommend watching a video on our professional team (Seahawks) and how we have the loudest fans in the NFL. We once were so loud we triggered a minor earthquake.
