Well most Americans despises taxes (reasonable, but it does help to keep crime rates low) I don't think blaming the government for private property (aka the university campus/private services) is the right thing to do

I know many people will disagree with me on this, but get a medical exemption so you can get a single dorm. Just go to the doctor or one of the campus counselors and say you have anxiety and that having a roommate is bad for your mental health 😂. They usually won’t deny you a single room if you do that. But yeah, you do have to pay more.

I just went to a community college and commuted every day. when I transferred to a university my junior year I was able to get a 1 room apartment. then the following year when my sister transferred up we got a two bedroom apartment together. it was scary that first year I was at the university though. my apartment was in a bad neighborhood and I heard gunshots at night. whole different world from living in a small town surrounded by cornfields.

I had someone tell me their room in student housing was $600 a month... you can get a one bedroom apartment for not much more in our city

They probably have a roommate and it is probably 200 square feet and filled with mold and peeling paint from prior to 1971. Maybe some asbestos thrown in there for good measure. @@jrey1

Personally I think the most realistic explanation i can think of is that he was taking classes for a job or smaller certificate/program that was given at the college. I know that some colleges offer adults post-high school to upgrade high school level credits at a college for admission into a program which require those pre-requisites. The issue is, if he had been kicked out of HS, how would he have gotten into that in the first place? Maybe he was a tradesman, since they also take courses at colleges alongside their field experience. Again, makes no sense@@Pilgrimetro

This story isn't nearly as bad as yours, but my RA was a bit of a narcissist who, from what I suspected, took the post so she could talk about how much better she is compared to everyone else while doing her rounds. We made a lot of jokes at her expense. One day, someone was smoking weed in the building and it stunk so bad I could smell it at the front door of my dorm while talking to her in the hallway. She had no idea and seemingly ignored the rank smell filling the hallway; I was shocked she didn't even know what weed smelled like. I had never smoked weed and still knew the smell, even in high school. She pretended to take her position seriously but clearly had no idea what she was doing.

I went to college with a gun. The college even encouraged it. They had a shooting range to practice at for free. Along with free gun safety and handling classes. They also permitted concealed carry on campus.
