I don't think it's dirty. I don't see any intent(until the singlet grab)...just sloppy with the tap and go. Edit-To be clear, not arguing those were obvious penalties...just that I don't think he's trying to gouge the kids eyes(also have only seen him Wrestle a couple times).

Church is angry throughout the match which means hes scared, you can see it in his body language. Thats why hes pokin eye balls and grabbing singlets. I would know i wrestled for a long time (I wasnt near as good as these guys and i didnt specifically poke eye balls but i would get my hands in peoples faces FOR SURE when i thought they wrestled like pussies, which is a mistake on my part because you can wrestle like a "pussy" and still win... nothing wrong with that) and i am a very educated man when it comes to psychology. Gaj didnt let his emotions get to him which allowed him to remain centered and always act in his own best interest. SKill wise though IMO i think they are both more than skilled enough to beat each other over and over again.

Didn’t catch that when I watched the first time. That’s a good catch. My boy just finished his sr season in District 7 and in his last regular season match, his opponent did the exact same thing. Dude scored a takedown and the went out of bounds. My son motioned to the ref that he grabbed his headgear. I guess the ref took offense and blatantly ignored multiple obvious grabs of the headgear for the rest of the match. I typically don’t have an issue with missed calls in single ref matches, but when it’s that blatant and the ref is obviously ignoring it, you just hate to see someone’s regular season career end like that.

@@adams2671 Oh buddy I remember those days of only seeing rankings and brackets on paper. Hell only way we could see our own match was if one of my teammates parents was rich enough to have a video camera. Those VHS tapes were few and far between but when you got to borrow a VHS of wrestling, that thing was gold. I was 2x state champ in SC and grad in SC but when I came up there to PA for tournaments in Lock Haven I would get balled up. The 28 day J-Rob camp in 2000 was in Edinboro, PA. I used to go out there and get whipped by guys that were freshman SQ Y’all boys are just different up there 🙏🏼
