Great talent. You have to realize the year it was filmed. Horrendous wig on Lorrie. She had a wonderful voice . Larry was so practiced on guitar. A duo for all time
It should have been good for 2 songs at least. But they were not a headliner act. At best they are a "novelty Act" Even the name is novelty as Collins Kids. Larry is too campy and over the top. BUT the music is great AN they were based in LA anyway. The songs appeal wasn't national anyway. They had a decent progression of appearences. Especially Lorrie with Ricky Nelson. She player Ricky's girlfriend AND that girlfriends sister. So she had her chance but it didn't 'stick' somehow. Larry was trapped into his stage character. They didn't develop him on stage at all. Nobody hires a Jerry Lewis type character for anything except that type part. Larry finally changed his stage presence, here is a better performance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-865O6o9pRLA.html&ab_channel=rockandrollguitar
@@markusr7421 This was June, 1959. Larry was 15, and Lorrie was 17. It was only a few months after this show that Lorrie ran off, and married Stu Carnell, Johnny Cash's manager, who also managed bookings for the Collins Kids too, while they were touring with the Cash show.
