This is the color guard basics portion of the 2008 CMU drum major and color guard clinic performance. Sorry about the shakiness of the video my brother video taped it.
I have been involved in guard design, drum majoring, drill design, dance team choreography and a band directing for 30 years. I have been blessed to have worked with so many talented people. It's nice to see well trained campers being applauded for the hard work put into to this exhibition. Little negative comments about receiving applause for drop spins need not be made. Anyone involved knows what it takes just to master the basics would give the same form of encouragement.
it kinda sucked with the fact that a lot of people were off count and i didnt know what was going on half the time but my favorite part was when the guy threw the double and the i noticed i have to throw a double as a solo next year im kinds scared
I was the only guy in my high school's color guard and winter guard at the time of this video. I always wished I saw more guys in guard, though all girl color guards tended to be the case with many of the schools I saw as well.
If there isn't a stop after each spin, then they might be what used to be called continuous drop spins. It all depends on what was actually being taught.
ususally once hghschool is done and one moves on to drum corps and independent winterguard, it evens out between guys and girls. Unless you are madison scouts or cavaliers- then you have only guys ob those teams.
brwneydgirl70 I know there was a boy who wanted to join but out coach wouldnt allow him to. I think it would be cool to have a boy instead of all girls.
Uhhmmm... there is nothing really happening here people. Was this just a rehearsal or what? This is what it looks like in South Africa: /watch?v=ZgBj0dUZ_iA
this is just a camp for captains/drum majors that happens each year before marching band season kicks off. they wear the provided t-shirts and khaki shorts as uniform because buying new costumes is unnecessary as to they preform the learned routine from the camp once at the end of the week
