Amanda, I have just purchased this palette from Ulta ( April, 2024) and the newer formulas are so good! Creamy, velvety, one- swipe pigment payoff and stunning shades! Try it again, I think you will love it now! ✨💜✨
I’m so bummed. I love amethysts and I really enjoy cool-toned purples, so I was so excited when I first saw this palette. But yeah, if they don’t perform, I won’t waste my money. Thanks as always for your honest and thorough reviews!
I just got this palette in the mail but haven't had time to play with it yet... Now I'm scared!🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 but I can't ever turn away from a purple palette! I would LOVE to see Colourpop do a mega palette that is ALL purples, basically the "Smoke n Roses" palette but PURPLE! Thank you for the video!💜💜💜
It's weird to see so many people commenting that they didn't like this palette because my daughter and I both really enjoyed it! I do always use glitter primer anyway, but she didn't and neither of us had issues with the shadows. The only shimmer I was disappointed in was the white shimmer.
Cooler toned purples seem to be harder to make at a great quality and I find it's true for the majority of brands. Before but was purple overall but most now mastered warm purples but not cool yet🤷
I've been waiting for ColourPop to make a cool toned purple palette for a long time. I'm really disappointed that this palette isn't good quality. I realize that purples are difficult to formulate and I'm sure cool toned purple shades are even harder to make, but the Orchid You Not palette is excellent quality. If ColourPop can make the shades in Orchid You Not blendable, pigmented, and excellent quality, I would think they could do it for almost any color. I hope ColourPop listens to customer feedback and tries to make another cool toned purple palette with their good quality formula in the near future. Thank you for your hard work, Amanda!
Thanks for the review! Sorry you had trouble with the palette. I have not had any trouble with my All Amethyst palette! I honestly did not know people were having trouble with this palette until I watched this video and saw the comments. The mattes all blend perfectly for me and the shimmers are beautiful. I think Dream Much SSS is new but is very close to REM from the Double Rainbow collection. I heard that Deck is a returning/repackaged SSS, but I had never seen it before. I just got back into makeup and started buying Colourpop 3 years ago, so I have no idea which SSS were made and sold before then.
I used the All Amethyst palette the other day, and paired it with Orchid You Not, and I loved how it turned out! I also just purchased a bunch of SSS from Ulta and CP after not buying makeup for months. I’ve been reaching for easy makeup lately, and SSS are just easy to swipe on and go or add to a palette when I have more time.
Thank you for the info on the finishes of super shock shadows. I really like the metallic finish so I’d never have given a glance to the one that is actually more like the metallic since it was labeled ultra glitter. I really appreciate all of the details you provide!! Edited to add: LOVE the teardrop shaped ring! 😍
I waited for your review on this palette because, I too, love my purples. I'm so sad that the formula was so weak. I may just pass this one by. Thank you for your detailed review and comparisons! There were loads of reviews on RU-vid, but you are the only one who had done comparisons.
👀👀👀 I'm all ABOARD the Purple , Pink, Blue train. This palette looks so pretty but too light for my complexion and undertone. Those Super Shocks though. I say this as i just got my Orchid You Not and the NEW SSS. Amanda you sold me on it all. Thank you for posting and the thorough review. As usual we love and appreciate you Amanda! 🖤💚🖤💚🖤💚
i've wanted a cool purples palette for AGES and i saw some other people mention the quality issue too..but i waited for yours before deciding not to buy it. Thanks for reviewing! ❤️
even tho i know people are over monochromatic palettes, if there's one that's missing and would really be loved, is a saturated cool-toned purple one. periwinkles, violets. I'm so over cool-toned palettes always having some warm pink shade :( i would suggest to make it a cool-toned mauve instead! that, to me, would make more sense anyways, thank you queen for being honest as always, this was sadly a disappointment 😔
Thank you so much for the review, I was interested but the quality issues made me change my mind. Thank you so much for how well you review these palettes for us. You rock! ❤️
These purples don’t scream “amethyst” to me… none of the colors even match the vibrant purple on the packaging. I mean, this is a JEWEL we’re talking about!
Thank you, Amanda. I was actually going to pick up the All Amethyst palette today at Ulta but seeing this review I decided against it. I think Colourpop is so focused on constantly putting out something new that the quality is being negatively impacted. Not surprising. I did a video on the Supers sss set the other day because I was livid they left out 3 of the new shadows. Not impressed with quality or customer service lately. But I enjoy all your CP videos! 💕
I've been waiting for this video. I've seen some others post with mixed reviews on the performance as well, so I've been dying to hear your thoughts. Such a bummer the quality isn't up there with It's My Pleasure (probably my favorite purple Colourpop palette) because I have been waiting for a cooler blue-ish purple palette for a while and was hoping my wait was over. This is the color story I want but sadly doesn't sound like the performance I'm used to from Colourpop. I had high hopes especially because it seems like the larger pan shadows usually seem to perform really well (like Limincello, Tinkerbell and Of Quartz)
I bought the all Amethyst palette and the shadow songbird arrived crushed, it just crumbled to the floor. I sent ColourPop jpg picture of damage as they requested to access the damage. They did not replace the palette, at least not as of yet. In reading your review the palette is inferior in formula. I went ahead and ordered the Lilac You A Lot palette upon your recommendation. Thank you for the discount code and your review. I learn a lot from your videos. Kindness and happiness, Teresa (I watched the whole video)
You voice gives me such beautiful asmr, I love your humor and work ethic. I watch every video multiple times even though I don't ever plan to buy anything from ColourPop. 💜
You're the second reviewer that I've seen that said this palette was difficult to work with. I want this color story so bad, but I'm worried this palette won't work well. Will just have to wait and see.
I'm new to ColourPop and your channel, and was interested in this as I loooove purple eyeshadow. Thanks to your swatches, I think I will get Lilac You A Lot instead. Thanks for a very informative, fun video.
You are sooo pretty. Major Jennifer Connelly vibes--- love your coloring and eyebrows! I was disappointed in this too, but a few of them are pretty bad ass. It pairs well with the Nightmare Before Christmas palette grays!
I adore the colour-story of this palette but it is disappointing to hear that the shimmers aren't great. Can you let us know if the shimmers perform better if dampened with a setting spray? Those super shock shadows are definitely going on my wishlist if the collection comes to the Colourpop site. Great review as always. You are my go to RU-vidr for all things Colourpop!
im shocked! after watching that tutorial my first thought was, “that looks like those little maybelline quads my mom got me in middle school.” im so sad this isn’t up to standard
I picked this up when it came out. I like it, but then, I am ghostly white and like less saturation on my eyes because I am a little out of the age range for these shades and am not great on application. Cool tones that aren’t all taupe and apply like washes of color suit me just fine, but I can see where they would be a problem for others. FYI, I loved the idea of Baroque, but the colors are so intense that I can’t wear it.
The super shocks that were paired with this palette and Of Quartz, I believe are re-releases. Along with Dream Much, they also had Tassel for Amethyst and for Of Quartz it was Deck and I Heart This.
I'm so hoping more pieces come out if this comes to the Colourpop site!! Amethyst is my birthstone and I LOVE purple!!! I own more purple palettes than I'd like to admit! But I'll keep on buying them, that's for sure!
(🖐️ I made it to the end. )Im trying to be selective with my makeup purchases and you solidified my choice to skip this one. I do have the Rose quartz so I'm good.
I bought this palette from ulta because mine doesn’t carry it. Last time I order palettes from them, it came shattered. I’ve had every palette come that way. Now I’m kinda glad I returned it.
I picked up the palette after seeing Heather Austin’s great review/looks & used it for the first time yesterday. I was disappointed also. Just couldn’t get colors to layer & blend. Thought it was me😞used setting spray to get shimmers to adhere but not used to this quality from colourpop. Much like yours, overall look was ok but it was quite the effort. I still ❤️ the colors of the palette so I guess I’ll keep it but probably won’t use it much ☹️
I always watch your videos to the end ❤ I kept putting off purchasing this, but now I think I may skip on it altogether. Thanks for the review and comparisons.
I'm sad it's not up to par with other cp shadows, but I'll get it anyway. I have been waiting to find a good cool toned purple palette, and I have no issue with working the shades
Now I know for sure that when I did my first impressions video, it wasn’t just me or my eye application. I was bummed because what a pretty color story and beautiful packaging. The Metallics faded literallly while I was filming, and I had patchy issues too. Probably one of the worst Colourpop palettes I’ve ever had, and I have a lot of them! So sad…I hope they listen to the feedback and will improve with further palettes in these pan sizes. Maybe we’ll get an outstanding cool tones purple from them one day!
Purple shades are usually the hardest to formulate. We know CP can make purple shadows but when it comes to an eye-safe formula, what's missing is the pigment, and most of the previous purple-themed palette contain not eye-safe shades because the pigment is not FDA approved and can stain or trigger an allergic reaction. I think using a mixing medium such as a gel base to mix with the palette shadows would help them work better, but would take longer to apply and wait to set to the eyes if you worry about creasing & longevity.
Amanda I seen it and Elsa I wasn't crazy about it I created my own purple eyeshadow palette that has beautiful purples it has all different shades it's gorgeous I love it must have about 60 different shades of purples I love it
They HAVE some great purples within the NBA Collab that many were “hot and bothered” to ignore - cause they’re not fans?! I bought two of these at 50% off just to get to those purples, and several other STUNNING, & unique color stories in blue & green! Those are in SUPERB formulas...
I was also disappointed! I literally had the same experience as you!! I expected the colors to really pop, and shine!!! But they just ended up looking muted!! I bought it at Ulta, because when I searched the tester , all the shades shined under the lights in Ulta! I did use Milani eye primer, which actually kepT the shadows on for the whole day, and even still on before I swowered in the morning! It’s just weird that the colors end up more dull than they look!!! I’m going to try spraying my brush with setting spray to see if I can really make these colors pop correctly! ( lol no pun intended) 😂
I wonder if it's a quality control issue where some batches are good and others are not. I'm disappointed to hear that people are having performance issues because I saw this color story and my jaw dropped... it's so pretty!! I guess I'll wait and see what others say.
Same for me, I have not had any trouble with my All Amethyst palette! I honestly did not know people were having trouble with this palette until I watched this video and saw the comments. The mattes all blend perfectly for me and the shimmers are beautiful.
@@samanthashetterly8499 that’s what I was thinking exactly, and it’s so sad that people are having problems with it! It’s such a unique and gorgeous palate
What primer (if any) are you using and what kind of brushes? I watched someone struggle with patchiness when she used a synthetic brush (colourpop brand), then she switched over to a natural hair brush (morphe brand) which solved that problem.
Maybe this is why they didn’t attempt these purples because they don’t have a good formula for them. But I wanted a palette like this. It’s weird because the teal palette was an Ulta exclusive at first and that formula is one of their best. I was waiting for a teal and a cool toned purple palette from them for a long time. But my solution is getting purple super shocks instead lol
I just picked up the Huda Rose Quartz, so I will be skipping this one. I appreciate this review so much, because I might have picked it up and been disappointed otherwise.
I work at Ulta. So I bought it 2 weeks ago. This palette is GORGEOUS! BEAUTIFUL! STUNNING!!!! Probably my very favorite. These 2 new SSS's go sooo nicely with the palettes. Gorgeous!!!!!
I had no idea about the 2 new super shocks, I LOVE the gunmetal one! I have to get both of these, sucks I just did an Ulta order last week & they don't have them at my local store or ship to store. I hate to pay shipping again for 2 little things. I think I will pass on the palette since the formula isn't as good and I'm only buying what I really love, I need nothing. I did get of quartz too, I love those types of shades 2ndary to purple. For me these are besties palettes. In addition to lilac you, IMpleasure, orchid you not, & handful of purple super shocks, I just got the blendbunny dollhouse palette and the few times I do makeup nowdays I want to use it because it is a freaking mazing shadows to work with. I don't have Huda Rose quartz, I'm probably not going to get it.
I love purples but I trust your opinion so I won't be picking this one up. I know the cool toned purples are harder to make so maybe that's the reason it's not as good! So sad, it's so pretty!
Try using a different eye primer. I usually use the Urban Decay eye primer but recently picked up the Colourpop party proof one to try. I only used it twice but both times my makeup turned out horrible. Patchy and lack luster. I love Colourpop but I threw that primer out.
Oh that’s such a shame. I actually reaally like the colour story. When i saw the pallet i was sure i was going to buy it, but now i will have to pass… lets hope they’re coming out with a similar colour story soon that actually performs well!
