Columbia Mens Arch Rock Double Wall Elite Jacket & Facet 75 Alpha Hiking Shoes Review
In this video, I share my thoughts on the Arch Rock Double Wall Elite jacket and Facet 75 Alpha hiking shoes by Columbia. I love outdoor gear and equipment and if the items are something I would use or wear myself (and I'm at liberty to say exactly what I think about them), I'm happy to test and review the items and let you know what I think.
The Arch Rock jacket is nice and light - it's minimal in terms of features and is designed to keep you nice and warm whilst still being lightweight and packable. It employs some clever technology called 'Omni-Heat Infinity' which is a printed series of metallic gold dots which line the inner of the jacket, along with being printed on the reverse of the outer fabric - these work to reflect heat back toward your body whilst the synthetic insulation does a good job at keeping that heat inside!
I've used this for around two weeks now - it works well, is put together very well and I will be using it on future camps!
PRO's = Very warm, packable, lightweight, good value for money, large hood can fit over a hat or helmet
CONS = Hood and cuffs are not adjustable, but have elastic hems / trim, breast pocket not large enough for a map

The Facet 75 Alpha hiking shoes are a lightweight (340g UK 8) hiking shoe..... they are NOT hiking boots - rather more suited for less technical trail and longer flat hikes. They offer superb comfort out of the box and felt like I was wearing slippers - the midsole is extremely well cushioned and irons out the impact of foot placement. The grip is good and the shoes are fully waterproof. They have a handy lacing system which locks easily with the toggle. They are well put together and not like anything I have ever used for hiking before.
PRO's = Extremely comfortable out of the box, fully waterproof, lightweight with good grip
CONS = These are not designed as or to replace hiking boots, so offer little ankle support - they are suited to less demanding terrain

I hope you've found my review of these items useful; if review videos aren't your thing - please just skip this one and I'll see you on the next wild camp soon :-)
