Yours looks to be missing the hold down guard. Mine has a spring loaded bar that goes across in front of the blade that holds the metal down. If it wasnt holding it good, the blade may need adjusted. Which is the big bolt in the center in the back.
Okay interesting. I found that the hold down it's not good enough for high school students. Steel would pop up, and Splinter the steel, making it dangerous. When you put a piece of wood that is clamped. It's guaranteed to stay down. But I will look at the blade. How do you know how much Gap to leave?
@@RonGrosinger I know exactly what your talking about on that. Mine does it too, on long stretches. I think it has something to do with the blade adjustment. Or its dull.. They act just like scissors. When they get full or out of adjustment, they'll fold a little. I've had this problem before, but mostly when I'm doing a long cut, that's thin, like 1/2".. But, I do think its great teaching young adults how easy metal can be. As far as adjusting it, I'm not sure how to do that yet. I gotta feeling itll have to be shimmed. I do know, the farther to the left, the blade will be slightly farther from the table, and I line my scribe Mark's up with the table, not the blade
That big bolt in back is what holds the blade against the table, as far as how close it should be, I think depends on the thickness of the metal. I use .22 ga. so its gotta stay real tight. As u use thicker metal, you gotta back the blade off a little. It's worth looking in to, that's a high dollar one u got there. If it's pretty ol, it may just be time for a new blade. If I figure out how to adjust it correctly, I'll let ya know. I was looking for instructions when I found your video
