on your other (shorter) vid of this same Price is Right episode, the description says it's from 1978. Would you be able to remember what month or part of the year this was from?
Bob allowed her like 35 seconds in the first round of Switcheroo. Didn’t matter since she requested a second round and that lasted only 16 seconds and was the round which counted.
Technically this was taped in late 1978, so at the end it would have had a 1978 copyright year at the end. Episodes between tape date and air date can be several months at most in advance.
But I don't think it aired on January 24, 1979 Ivoryman1986, based on the hint that one contestant cracked the safe (which doesn't match the pricing game lineup), and looking as to who's sitting next to the blue seat covers, it could be Gina Edwards who's still on the show today that's sitting there. So I'd put it later in 1979 (either late winter or in the spring of 1979 if it's still Season 7, with February 19, March 6, and May 29 as possibilities, or very early Season 8 on September 28, though the February 20 episode that GSN touched, Gina wasn't hired yet). It's possible that January 24, 1979 could be the tape date of this episode, in that case March 6 would make the most sense and it would be one of Gina's first appearances since joining the staff if true.
Now that the full episode is available (13 years after this clip was uploaded!) it's known to have taped in April 1979 and aired on May 28, 1979 If there's another episode from the rare season 7 I'd like to see surfaced, March 7 was the episode with the Alita/nosebleed blooper
Ok, i'm totally confused. Why was Bob so sure that since she switched the 6 and the 3 that there was a stronger possibility of her winning the car? I guess that's true, but it could have been the other way around, and it could have been the 6 to make the price $4,966. Does that make any sense? Did anybody else catch that? Was Bob confused, or am I missing something? Beau, your mom was cute and darling in this. I loved this era of the The Price Is Right, mid to late 70s, and into the 80's. Thanks for uploading.
Good catch. We've debated that point a lot over time. Has there ever been any evidence that Bob knew when some contestants were about to win big? (And my mom appreciates the compliment. As you can imagine, we've been mimicking her for YEARS now. :)
I think Bob did know the prices of some the prizes, especially the car prices ahead of time, so he could drag out the suspense of the contestant winning. Even though he had said over the years that he didn't know the prices, I was never sure that I believed him. Just curious Beau, how long did you all have that car, and the wood burning stove?
Interesting coincidence that someone named "Teague" was playing for an AMC. "Teague" was the name of AMC's chief stylist at the time. I wonder if it's any relation.
