Hi everyone!! Thanks for all the awesome feedback and positive comments on this video!! If you're interested in teaching in China and want to have a consultation with me to learn more click here: calendly.com/aleeselightyear/
Yes I hear accent. Maybe his English teacher was British. In Jamaica back in the 80s, we said crep(e)s for tennis shoes. In America young ppl say fam or famalam
libral definately not..Chinese people often think the same even my closest friends that grew up in the west...they have one mind...that's why they are so successful....the only difference is today's generation will pretend better like westerners. I love Chinese people but thinking this generation is drastically different is a misconception....they will be more tolerant but they tend to have the same ideology
I’m not always this fun! But this semester I’ve gotten lucky with a lot of students with big personalities and great senses of humor. They make me want have fun
@@AleeseLightyear Ya it looks like you play hard, but I also get a feeling you make them work even harder. Push them outside of their comfort zone. I feel a genuine care for the students and that is awesome!
Same. Even tho I have one teacher that has a similar attitude to here, but I’d love to have more. It would be cool, and I’d be comfortable with actual socializing.
It's great that Chinese public schools hire foreign native speakers to teach English. In most other developing countries, they use local teachers who never even speak to an English native speaker before.
Well, it's been over than 20 years some, yes it's few, school have teacher like that. Now in tier one and two cities, at least there is one high school we call foreign language high school, have languages courses cover Spanish, Russian, French, Japnese and Korean, the kids in each such class should dedicatedly to learn one second foreign language except English.
it's better to have native/ local teachers as they could explain u way better due to same background. No doubt , even after hiring foreign teachers , East asians ( Chinese , Koreans and japanese excluding hong kongers and Taiwanese ) still find problem or hesitation while speaking English
my bf went to hangzhou foreign language school and said they had three floors for the cafeteria featuring different cuisines on each floor. can’t even imagine 😂
that's the school i went to!!!!!! do you mind telling me your bf's name to see if i had him as my teacher? ps the school does have a three floor building as the cafeteria with different cuisines and there is an all you can eat as well
@@rachelzhou8740 I'm jealous that most of everyone live in rich cities in China. The one my family lives is Tai Yuan. It's ok, but nothing interesting.
I am black and I am often look differently when I say that I can speak chinese : like Im offset. Thanks you to show me and show to young black girls as me that everything is possible for us no matter our skin tone Big love💋
Congratulations on learning chinese!! It isn't an easy language to learn so that's really impressive. 抱歉有不好的人。他们应该都是笨蛋哈哈。我是华人但是我看见有人这样子对别人因为她是黑人然我很失望。我看见有人在学中文会很开心的。
@@Mike-he3wu ya but its totally not worth it 💀 ive been to school there without any chinese knowledge and they are really under-educated on mental health and racism but honestly pretty good experience for ur life

@@emberstone3 but how u can speak with teachers etc if u don’t know the language
My dream is to teach in China! I was adopted from China as a baby and have been struggling to re-connect with my native culture ever since. When I began to tutor English and learn about ESL teaching, it’s become my life goal to end up back in China at some point in my life. This video was EXACTLY what I needed to watch. Thank you 🙏 stay safe! 谢谢老师!
I don't know why this video was recommended to me but I'm so glad it was. I am a uni student born in China but grew up in Canada. It's nice to watch videos like these to see how Chinese education differs from the Western education. You bring so much joy to the class; thank you for your work teaching these children!
hahahah sometimes it definitely feels a bit weird. But in China, everyone is already staring at me because I'm a foreigner....People will stare at me all day, every day and once I got used to it, I lost all fear of vlogging public.
hahahah it didn't happen tho--- EVERYONE in all my classes got a wish. These students work really well to make sure everyone is included. It's really sweet!
That was so wholesome to watch. Chinese people seem really polite and kind hearted by nature. The girl who wished one of her classmates gets more money and the boy who wished you'd get a Rolls-Royce warmed my heart the most.
The speaker at 6:45 is talking about safety guidelines in regards to COVID. The lady speaker after that seems to be talking about a student’s result how it improved from Year 1 to Year 3 Btw, I was smiling throughout the video, this is too wholesome, thank you for sharing with us, Miss Aleese!
@@AleeseLightyear I'm a teacher at an Asian school in the states. I recently discovered your channel. It seems amazing to work and teach in China . I was wondering if you can possibly let me know how to go about applying to a place like yours.
you are seriously one of the brightest and nicest people ever! I just found your channel and binged every video! your smile is so contagious!! love you so much already!!
I was born and raised in a small town in central China and spent my whole school life there before college. It is interesting to see your perspective as a foreign teacher in Beijing, and I just feel a lot has changed, but a lot has also remained the same: students wear the same kind of sporty uniforms, but girls can let their hair down on shoulders now and boys can have long curly hair; kids act the energetic way we used to behave, but they are bolder in front of teachers now (at my time we don't talk to our teachers after class, and there is not a single foreign English teacher in our secondary or high school); kids are also more open to express themselves, as I see from their new year wishes (At my time, we only copied clichés from the textbook into our class assignment or homework because we're afraid to make mistakes!). I am watching a more liberal, diverse, and inclusive environment of Chinese education. And I'm really happy about it. It is of course still a long way to go, but it's great to see changes happening. LOVER & PEACE!!!
Among Asian countries that used school uniform, I like China's school uniform. Because you see they wear PE like attire for the whole day. While in Japan, Korea or other country with uniform, you have to wear shirts and slacks most of the time.
Girl, the way you describe the lunch options as standard/meh have every student in the US sobbing in despair hahaha...I still have PTSD from eating those cheese sandwiches that looked as if they would never decompose, and poking a straw into a pouch of chocolate milk 😂
It is hard for many people to define what a good teacher is, however when you're in the presence of one you know it! I call it the sparkle factor, you see it in the eyes of the students and teacher because the brain is actively being engaged and learning is taking place! You don't have to look hard to see it in this video!
I really really really wish i had a wonderful teacher like you! You are so sweet and the relationship you share with your students is too wholesome! You are so positive and bubbly i love it! I teared up when i saw some of the interactions cuz i never got to experience this kind of teacher or teaching my whole life. I always had shitty teachers who traumatized me so its good to know that people like you exist. I love you and i hope you keep smiling🥺💜
It’s the American culture and lifestyle, that’s why kids in America don’t respect authorities or their teachers. Kids in China are taught at a very age to respect elders and teachers, not the typical American parent, they teach them to question authorities. That is the root of the problem. Until the American culture changes, we will never learn anything from the Chinese kids. American education system will forever remain mediocre.
@@jjc6530 you know asian countries are all like that.you should respect elders and teachers. Teachers always have a good place in society. People in Asia count knowledge as a very worthy thing so they count the people with knowledge very worthy too.(like teachers or people with degree ) In my country(iran), we stand up for our teachers, buy them gifts for teacher’s day, talk to them respectfully. And we don’t even dare to sleep during teaching time😁
@@jjc6530 The western culture of questioning authority/everything is why they’ve gotten so much farther than every other society. There are downfalls to this culture of course, but the benefits outweigh the downfalls in *my* opinion .
@@jjc6530 Its a bigger issue than respecting teachers. Teacher here in America beat, harass, rape, and commit other horrible acts on students. Many do not care about us and see us as a grade.
You are one wonderful teacher.... The atmosphere is so fun and engaging... The students are having a great time and the teacher is very refreshed and not looking stressed...I wish I was like you
Hi! I love you channel so much! And you know what, I was a student in BFS. Now I an studying aboard in the US. I grow up in Beijing and I love my hometown. I am very happy that friends from other countries share their real life in Beijing. It is a very meaningful thing to have more and more foreign friends come to China to share knowledge and experience. Living together with people of different cultures and languages is the best way to eliminate prejudice and estrangement. I wish you can enjoy every moment in Beijing and share your moving smile with the world.
These students actually look happy. Such a stark difference from the schools I went to in America. No doubt you being their teacher has something to do with it 😉
hahhahah thanks so much!! I don't teach ESL as the subject but all of my classes involve some type of ESL lesson in them to help students understand the concepts.
Wow. Imagine being her partner and having your own little life in China. A unique life because of the difference in culture but a good life. Nice vid sis 👌🏾
I wish school in the US was lively like how it is over there . It brought a smile to my face to see all the kids getting along with each other and having fun .
wow, the Chinese school looks so free, you are allowed to making films of the students and post them in your personal social media account. I also work in an international, not in China, I am not allowed to post any school or students in my personal social media account.
I spent my best 5 months ever in Beijing. I wanted to stay for a whole year but covid shortened my gap year. sometimes I have those weird dreams about beijing because I had such a great time. The people, the food... everything was great
Greeting from Vietnam, This is the first time i watched your video but actually felt in love with this. I love the vibe you make during the class, love chinese culture and love the way students are enjoying their school days. And more over, Im a first year in an pedagogical university, i have learned and am inspired a lot from your work and video. Best wishes for you and your student.
when i dont get the meaning of passionate i come to Aleese channel and get recharged. Aleese's China life is so vivid and vigorous. Must say Beijing has the best education resources when it comes to forerign language studies and these young fellas are so lucky!!
The beautiful sound in their voices remind me of me and my friendgroup a few years ago, I wish that in our education we would get the possibility to interact with those our age from all sorts of places in the world, seeing that we do have beautiful diffrences but after all we are all so similiar!!
*Seeing how amazing your students are makes me believe that you are a great teacher* Thank you for sharing your videos with us, and I hope in the future to see more aspects of you and China in your videos. Be healthy always, with love from 🇴🇲 ^ ^
Imagine an hour and a half break for school. Imagine that! When I was in school, we only got 30 minutes lunch with small breaks inbetween. They are so lively, it's awesome to watch.
This kinda reminds me of my school. In my school we spend 2-3 hours of our 8 hour school day learning Chinese an for a couple of our classes our teachers only speak Chinese. It very difficult to learn but having teachers who are natives to that language teaching you is so much easier then having a teacher who learned the language teaching it. It's actually fun because my teachers teach us about Chinese culture. Every year during Chinese new year we have a class lunch where our Chinese teachers bring in food and teach us how to make it. I graduate in a couple years and I have to say I'm going to miss it. You are an amazing teacher. Your students are so so lucky
I'm cracking up at the notes you had them write each other 😂 I teach in Taiwan at a public elementary school and it reminded me of my students. Lol they're so funny and honest!
I should've definitely studied here before moving abroad. Instead I ruined my whole teen life trying to get along with racist kids in a white school while not knowing any english
