Totally agree that estate sales are anxiety producing! I’ll show up two hours early, have my name on the list, know what I want to get, and my hands will still shake from the nervous energy 😂 I think it’s just the vibe
I've been "picking" with my dad since I was in diapers. There is NO need for anxiety at sales. The reason people are hosting a sale is because they don't want their stuff. It's 1 step away from a trash bag. The family has gone through and took anything they wanted. Everything left over will COST them money to get rid of if it isn't sold at the estate/garage sale. (You look amazing in the red boat neck top btw) As for crowds. Hold your own. If someone is getting up in your personal space as them to give you some room. If that doesn't work. Throw elbos. Sometimes you have to get down and dirty to get the good stuff. I think with time you will become less anxious about sales. I was kinda nervous about auctions when I was little bc my dad would tell me don't even scratch your nose bc they can take that as a sign as a bid. (Not true. Especially from a kiddo) auctioneers can tell bidders from lookie lous. Now I go and get my card and it's is THRILLING to go and bid. Stuff sells so fast. Good luck with your adventures. I love the content. Off to subscribe so I don't miss anything. ❤
I live in a BIG retirement community so the opportunities abound for estate sales. However, just as you mentioned, I too got a feeling in the pit of my stomach the few times I tried going to one. Mine’s not anxiety so much as a feeling of sadness 😢, being there inside someone’s house (who has maybe died or can’t live at home anymore or whatever) and seeing all of their worldly possessions on display in their home with price tag stickers on every single thing. I’m too much of a softie to get beyond that feeling, I guess. I do of course understand that it generates money for the person or their heirs and rehomes or recycles things for a good price, similar to thrifting in a thrift store, and all those positive elements about it. My mom and her friend even ran an estate sale business for a few years, a long time ago…but after my parents passed away we donated everything or gave special things to their friends or kept some things and took maybe 5 things to a consignment shop. I’m not saying that’s what other people should do, it’s just what worked best for ME since I didn’t have the heart to do an estate sale. But I don’t judge people who do them or shop at them 😘
Definitely understand that, I think that’s why I hadn’t personally been to one until last year, but we had done an estate sale at my Oma and Opa’s house when they passed and it had helped so much since they had collected too many things for us to keep. However the past couple of estate sales I’ve been to have been moving sales so definitely just depends, but for me I just love seeing how someone has decorated their home and the memories they had with their pieces and now I’m lucky enough to continue its life ❤️
Honestly, your hair right now with the bangs and the below shoulder length waved hair is SO GOOD on you. Seriously make this your signature hairstyle… You look amazing in the 2nd half review of the items 😍
You should go to the Donnaland Estate sale. I know she does them a few times a year. She sourced costuming for movie sets and her sales look absolutely *epic*!!!!
I'm sorry you didn't get into the sale right away, but I think there was still a lot there after 60 shoppers! As a doll collector I would have snatched the Kewpie for $10 and the Princess Diana Bride Doll?!? Nuts! Also I would have grabbed the Annalee felt figures and the Cheetah print coat lol. Thanks for sharing this!
I kid you not I have that red, white, and green quilt that was shown on the bed!!! It’s a lone star quilt I got mine for $35-40 at a resale shop. I love quilts obsessed with making them, buying them and up-cycling them lol
The brown disney jacket looks very good! I can see it in the fall, paired with some brown or maroon boots and maybe corduroy pants? For a 70s vibe. I usually don't like beige jackets because they remind me of trenchcoats, but this model is so cute I'd wear it in a heartbeat if I had one!
I have a lot of yard sales in my area, but I always make sure to hit them. I’ve found so much clothes for cheap. My closet is filled with designer jeans just because I shop second hand. 😂 Edit: Your hair looks so great!
the way i thought u were probably overhyping your fave find and then gasping when u brought out that red boatneck top! i would've also happily gone home after getting that.
All excellent choices. ❤You look mind-blowing🤯 in the snazzy 90s tee. That red shade is absolute perfection on you👩🍳-💋! I love the boat neck too. 😉That might be my favorite. The doll figurine is so charming. She doesn't seem spooky👻 to me. And, the style of that Disney jacket looks like something an employee would wear in Adventureland's Jungle Cruise. Plus, I always find Mickey & Friends to be quite irresistible. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
One thing I've learned with estate/garage sales is that if that item is meant to be yours, it will be there for you no matter how early or not you go to the estate sale. God will make a way.
