Kind sir, it will be well worth your time to watch the other X-Men movies. ESPECIALLY The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, and Logan. At first; the so-called “timeline” won’t make any sense, but then it will. I think you will really enjoy the remaining movies, so please allow us the enjoyment of watching you experience these movies for the first time; even if it is after the Deadpool movie/s.
Watch 3 movies and you should be good. 1) X-Men origins: Wolverine 2) Logan (may leave you confused but when you go back to the other X-Men movies it will make sense) 3) Deadpool 2 (references Origins and mentions what happens in Logan)
Essential: X-Men Origins: Wolverine... not a great movie but high probability of references to it given both Wolverine and "Deadpool" are in it. Logan the last appearance of Wolverine on film also features Xavier and X-23 If you have time: Days of Future Past: Rouge Cut dosen't completely follow the comics but still fun
Me personally i would watch the rest, Xmen Origins: Wolverine is not a good movie but its a guilty pleasure of mine, The Wolverine is a good follow up to this trilogy in my opinion, also has one of my favorite actors Hiroyuki Sanada, First Class and Days of Future Past are excellent movies in their own right and tie nicely together with this trilogy but Apocalypse is Meh and Dark Phoenix is terrible, but Logan is a Masterpiece
It is so cool to watch these movies with an actual comic book fan! We know what is done right and true to the original creation... and what is not. But really it is hard not to geek out over our heroes from our youth coming to life!
Please don't skip ahead and keep going in release order. I really want to see your take on Wolverine Origins. I know a lot of comic fans hated it but never completely understood why. I get the Deadpool thing but to me that doesn't ruin the whole movie so I'm curious what else they got wrong according to the comics. Then First Class Is just great and after that Days of Future Past, I'm really excited to get your reaction on those. Also The Wolverine movie I've herd comic fans loved, personally it's my least liked X-Men movie (I've never even watched a reaction to it but would check out yours). And make sure to have some tissues ready for Logan! Then you'll get all the jokes in Deadpool 2.
As some others said, First class, Days of Future Past, Logan, then Deadpool 2 would be my recommendation for the "necessary" ones. Would still like to see you go back afterwards to finish up the missed ones such as Origins: Wolverine afterwards.
Yes Xavier transfered his consciousness, that brain dead man they showed at the beginning being taken care of is his twin brother who was born that way
This movie is fine on its own but it was partly based on the Dark Phoenix Saga which was over a decade in setting up and involved multiple galactic empires, the scale was unheard of. In this movie it was only a B plot. this would be like having Thanos first show up as a side plot of Endgame and get killed. It really pissed off comic fans to see something so phenomenal tossed in as a side plot.
This Juggernaut definitely feels like the X-Men: Evolution mutant version. And with a limited amount of things to use, Fox couldn't go with his magic origin sadly. They only had rights to the X-Men themselves, and Cyttorak is unfortunately outside that.
I would suggest Origins, First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past (Rogue cut is a must!), and Logan. Those 5 movies are referenced and fit the main timeline before DP&W. Apocalypse and dark Phoenix can be skipped or watched off camera. Enjoying the views you have because i too grew up with the comics and cartoon. Last stand took soooo many liberties with how characters were handled, but Kelsey Grammer as Beast was my favorite.
I recommend watching all of them, in release order., but if you're on a time crunch, at least watch First Class, Days of Future Past, (the Rogue cut), and Logan.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CHANNEL i think you should see the other X-men movies but whatever you do make sure to do Logan BEFORE Deadpool 2 you will see why
@@NewfieMovieReactions oh my gosh thank you so much for replying it literally made my day and awesome about the X-men movies. I’m going to see Deadpool and wolverine on Thursday I’m so pumped apparently Deadpool is the most comic book accurate x men adaptation
Some ideas( may have seen some): Movies: Eurotrip Road Trip American Pie(1,2,3, Band Camp, Reunion) Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back National Lampoons Van Wilder My Boss's Daughter National Lampoons Going The Distance Wedding Crashers Sex Drive(R version. From trailers, everything from everywhere is on the table for Deadpool 3. My list? X-men First Class (2011) X-men Days of Futures Past (2014) and Logan (2017) skipping X-men Apocalypse, X-men Origins and The Wolverine, for now.
Love your reactions to these! My opinion, stay in this "universe" and watch "The Wolverine" next. Avoid "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at all cost. After, the prequels "X-Men: First Class" followed by franchise best "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Then, either go straight into "X-Men: Apocalypse" or skip it and go straight to "Logan", which many agree to be the finale of this Fox X-Men universe. But if you want to save that for last, watch "Apocalypse" then "Dark Phoenix" (yes, they re-did that storyline to... less enthusiastic results), then "Logan". And then, if you want, check out "The New Mutants" but just on your own time because it's such a nothing movie it doesn't make for a good reaction. Finally, the "Deadpool" movies are just fun.
Since Deadpool and Wolverine is coming out in a week you should at least see Logan and Deadpool 2 first (you can watch those without necessarily having to see the other X-Men movies), but I would recommend seeing all three Wolverine movies (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, and Logan) and maybe X-Men: First Class if you can swing it.
This is all my opinion, so take it as such, but Origins: Wolverine is terrible. They make an attempt at Logan's backstory, and it has good moments, but the movie in general is a hot mess. First Class is a great movie, but it holds very little continuity with the previous trilogy. Days of Future Past is all flash and show, but there's actually no substance to it. It also continues to destroy continuity. The Wolverine is actually pretty good, and helps bring closure to Last Stand. It's not great, mind you, just pretty good. Logan is not only a good X-Men movie, it's a legitimately fantastic film. I haven't seen Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix, but reviews on those seem to be very mixed.
You can watch Deadpool and Logan and be fine now. But First Class and Days of Future Past were REALLY good so I would suggest going back whenever you had the time!
I said to a friend who was thinking of going on this journey, you can go straight to deadpool, but your gonna miss half the jokes. The more you watch, the more you'll get out of it. Logan is required watching, but the rest is upto you, it's what you make of it. One thing on this movie, I like the casting choice of juggernaut, vinnie jones is legendary over here in Britain. But I'm biased against cyclops, being a proud member of team wolverine, so I've got no problem with losing scott. I can understand why ppl would be upset tho
9:44 they made the movie version of Mystique wayyy more grounded, also if she slipped out of her shackles she's still in a double locked big metal box, not a huge amount of ways to shapeshift out of it, I'm sure they were thinking of people like her when they were designing the transport vehicles. I mean, they had a container for the Juggernaut even
Never liked that they killed Scott and he's been an idiot in every movie but i still loved X-MEN3 when it came out and still do. Good thing we have X-MEN97 now to see him shine. At least on animation we got a decent Cyclops.
I love watching you watch nerdy stuff like this because when something happens and you're thinking of lore you do this thing where you look up and to the side like you're scrolling through your own brain and then you get a chuckle out of the fastball special and I totally do the same thing with kung-fu and indie movies. It's just fun to get to enjoy something with a fellow nerd even if we're not temporally aligned.
since you're a comic book fan i think you'd enjoy the two solo wolverine movies. then i'd recommend x-men first class and days of future past. then deadpool 1, then logan, then deadpool 2. this leaves out a handful of x-men movies that many feel are subpar and certainly not relevant to deadpool and logan.
on a tight schedule to get to Deadpool and Wolverine, you could watch Deadpool, First Class, Days of Future Past, Logan and then Deadpool2. Treat Logan as its own thing
You should watch the rest of the x men movies they're actually really good. Logan is kind of a finale to all if the x men movies so it won't have as much meaning without watching them first. The Deadpool movies barely crossover with the x men movies so not watching them first really won't matter. There is only one scene that won't make sense. Days of Future Past is much better than Logan or Deadpool 2.
Kind sir, it will be well worth your time to watch the other X-Men movies. ESPECIALLY The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, and Logan. At first; the so-called “timeline” won’t make any sense, but then it will. Loved your reaction as always. You should check out society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing
Man I always get excited when I see another X-Men reaction from you. I hope you can do them all but deadpool and wolverine is coming fast and dang does it look good.
Bare minimum for Deadpool 3 is to now watch Origins:Wolverine, Logan, and Deadpool 1 & 2. But do watch the others too. As a comic fan (and as films in their own right) they are really a mixed bag but it is fun seeing another interpretation. There are a few gems still to come and a few duds but thats half the fun. Not sure if you caught Claremont in this one but as a long time reader it was nice to see him get a bit of recognition with Stan.
You know what's funny? People always say they prefer practical effects over hot CGI mess, but for some strange reason they always crap on this juggernaut in comparison to that hot CGI mess that is Deadpool's juggernaut, it's just strange
"Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you will ever know. My single greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live." Fun Fact: The seventh highest grossing movie of 2006. Method Actress Fact: For her dual role as Jean Gray and the Phoenix, Famke Janssen extensively researched dissociative identity disorders and split personalities, to make her performance convincing. Stan Lee Cameo Fact: The X-Men creator Stan "The Man" Lee and "Dark Phoenix Saga" writer Chris Claremont appear in the opening scene, as neighbors of Jean Grey. They are credited as Waterhose Man and Lawnmower Man, respectively. CGI Over Practical Fact: For the opening de-aging effect, Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen gave the visual effects experts pictures of themselves as younger men, so that the computer program "Lola" could make them look younger. This was the first film to ever use de-aging. Lost In Adaptation Fact: The Dark Phoenix is reimagined as a destructive, deadly psychic alter ego of Jean Grey in this film. In the comics, it is a cosmic entity that has possessed Jean and other characters. Its adaptation as a dissociate personality disorder is more similar to David Haller/Legion from the comics, which inspires Legion (2017). Casting Notes Fact: Kelsey Grammer was so keen to play Beast that he agreed to do an audition. This was the first time Grammer had auditioned in over twenty years. Halle Berry had initially decided not to reprise her role as Storm for this movie, citing lack of character development in the previous two installments and a tense relationship with Bryan Singer. However, after Singer's departure, and suffering a major box-office flop with Catwoman (2004), Berry agreed to return on the condition that her role be expanded. Rebecca Romijn's and James Marsden's roles were reduced substantially when this movie was rushed into production, and the two cast members had prior scheduling conflicts.
I would say, you're good with these three for Deadpool. The other ones are a different set but continues these movies, past and future. Because of time, you could watch the rest After you watched Deadpool. Although Wolverine Origins, Deadpool was there in a different version with the same actor Ryan Reynolds, a running joke in the Deadpool franchise, you could also sneak that one if you can.
You should watch all of the X-Men movies, especially the ones with the younger versions of them, in order to get all of the references and callbacks to them in the later movies, like Deadpool. You can skip Dark Phoenix though. Logan is a must, as it's the pinnacle of the whole franchise.
Was that purple haired woman supposed to be Psylocke? If so that was a awful Psylocke. Where's the psionic powers, her psi blade, ninja skills, etc. When she appeared from being invisible, was that supposed to be her Shadowmeld ability? If so it didn't look like it. haha. :)
They crammed two storylines (The Cure and Dark Phoenix) in this with almost no development. X-Men First Class and Dasy of Future Past are great movies, must watch.
@@Shadowpack95 strangely they get the same actor/ actress do a similar scene in two movies. I can remember Jennifer Connolly at the end of Dark City and another one standing at the end of the dock in a red dress. I've noticed a few others too.
No, you do not need to watch any other X-men movie before Deadpool. But if you want to get all the little references and Jokes then i recommend you watch the rest of them Starting with 1st Class
